"The total decadence. We have seen the decline of this hotel year after year. We have been coming for 10 years and, although it has never been a panacea, the deterioration is already unacceptable. Not because of the facilities, but because of the bad service and the terrible attention. Except for the dining room waitresses (not all of them) and the bar waiters (all fantastic), the attention at reception and maitres is deplorable. Entertainment, a key element in the choice of many families, is non-existent and aimed exclusively at the elderly, who already make up more than 90% of the guests. Special mention to “Inma”, a receptionist with a bad manners that borders on the embarrassing. In short, cheap is expensive and we must say goodbye forever to this hotel, which had the potential to position itself as a great resort but has remained a third-rate hostel."

"This has got to be hands down the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune of staying at. Its a loud party hotel designed for teens to get drunk and fight. On 3 occasions we seen staff break up fights in the bar area and one man was beating another with one of the snooker ques. The food is awful and a member of our family suffered badly with bed bug bites. The lifts were always broken meaning we had to carry everything up 7 flights of stairs. Please please don't book this hotel."

Hotel Mareny Benidorm

"The hotel’s facilities and food do not correspond to a 4* rating, at most 3*. The food is bad, poorly seasoned, and cheap, mostly from cans with minimal variety. The ham at breakfast was hardly even ham, more like some kind of lunch meat. The only fresh item was watermelon; the rest of the fruit was canned. Between meals, there are collection boxes asking for tips for the kitchen staff. The rooms are outdated, and what is absolutely terrible is the booming sound that constantly echoes through the room, probably due to the pool pump on the 6th floor. The pool is very small, and the terrace looks like it’s from the 1960s. We will never return to this hotel; the price does not match the quality at all."

Flamingo Beach Resort - Adults Recommended

"Food was pretty poor, a lot of stews and other unappealing dishes. I'm always someone who says "well there is always salad"... But after several nights of salad, with the selection of cold meats and cheese pretty much the same every night, it was too much. I really thought there may be more Spanish and fresh fish on offer... Nice selection of fresh fruits and some lovely pastries. Also, the "fun police" were out in force when someone took their own music speaker down to the quiet pool I overlooked from my balcony. There really isn't a great atmosphere and the young people tried to put some life into the place and enjoy themselves. I'm on the north side of 50 and it was refreshing to hear some decent music at a very acceptable level. The staff came and tried to confiscate their speaker. World cup football had just started and they didn't show any matches either. Would not return. Sorry"

"We were looking forward to a well earned break at a beautiful hotel, having stayed at previous Meliá properties the expectations were high but this fell seriously short. The positives! The Botanic buffet restaurant at the Level had some great food. Restaurant Lima was very good. A handful of staff have great service such as Ximo, Jeyson and Miguel, all from Papamambo. The not so good! We had booked an all inclusive premium room through Jet 2. On arrival after pulling your cases across cobbled paving you find reception closed and to go to the Level reception. We arrived there and were told, we don't have any premium rooms available, you have been upgraded to a junior suite. Great we thought, until we saw the room. Dark, dingy, grass bank infront of us, definitely not an upgrade. Back to reception wanting the room we had booked and paid for. We can show you two more junior suites, one with a sea view! Both were better, one with a large terrace - SO WHY WERE WE NOT SHOWN THESE WHEN WE FIRST CHECKED IN?? By the morning we needed to change rooms due to the smell, a drainage or sewer smell, not very pleasant. We enquired about upgrading to the Level and were told that only the Royal Suite was available. We don't have all inclusive in the Level but you can keep it on this occasion. Great we had paid for this anyway! We would receive a phone call shortly to view the room. Waited and waited, went to reception - did no one call you? NO. Room looks very large and spacious with two balconies, one with sun most of the day. We paid the difference and took the room. Initial thoughts were wow, large lounge area, large bedroom, walk in wardrobe, separate toilet and large bathroom. Dig deeper and there are loads of issues. For a Royal Suite, their second best room, you would expect it to be faultless. Very, very dated not touched in the 20 years the hotel has been open. Door architrave falling off or buckling, lights hanging down, plug sockets not fitting properly, the terrace doors not closing fully and loose cord tiles on the balcony floor - actually dangerous. When you then look further at the Level, the 5* part, it is also very run down. The pool surround flooring has a lot of missing stones, walls have food splatterings on them and when we turned up for breakfast the griddle at the omlete and egg station still had the residue from the previous night meat on it, it has not been cleaned properly. The tables in the square were the entertainment was held, had but had the tables wiped in days. We used a wet wipe from the restaurant to wipe the table and it was black after. Staff, other than those mentioned were not great in their service to down right rude not just to us but also other guests. Presently it is school holidays in Spain and the hotel was about 90% Spanish. The service is definitely better and quicker if you are Spanish. "It's not 4 star, I don't believe anything about this, staff are nice but as soon as you asked them anything their English becomes very bad, no kettle in the room, no tea or coffee service in the restaurant, this is not 4 star, 2 states at best. This is only our first day, hopefully it can get better."

"Rooms are a little dated but You get a free safe in the rooms, saves you messing about with leaving a deposit at reception which most hotels do. You have to keep your door pass with you at all times because you won’t be able to use the lift or access the pool area. we was on the second floor so we didn’t need to use the lift. The breakfast was really nice, the evening meals was themed nights but there was something for everyone Always sunbeds available. We was lucky enough to get a pool view that we didn’t ask for so that was a bonus. Close to the strip and beach. Would recommend."

"This little hotel is in the heart of the old town which is very beautiful. Small and friendly with none of your usual benidorm holiday makers .we stayed in April and found no street noise at night . The staff are so helpful and polite and can not do enough for you .This hotel is spotlessly clean they changed our towels and bedding every day, and the beds OMG they are so big and comfy id of loved to take mine home . We had room 407 with a terrace and could hear and see the sea it was so calming and peaceful. Excellent stay , Excellent staff, Excellent location, Excellent hotel would highly recommend.
