Protea Hotel Blantyre Ryalls
8.5 (29 reviews)

Protea Hotel Blantyre Ryalls ★★★★

📍 2 Hanover Ave, Blantyre

"I recently stayed at this hotel and had a generally pleasant experience. The facilities were well-maintained, and the services provided by the staff were excellent. The breakfast was good and satisfying. However, I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the room decor. The posters of stamps from the British protectorate era, Nyasaland, were a bit unsettling for me. It would be great if the hotel could consider updating the room decor to reflect a more modern and inclusive atmosphere. Overall, I had a good stay and would recommend this hotel for its excellent facilities, services, and food."

Crossroads Hotel Blantyre
8.4 (19 reviews)

Crossroads Hotel Blantyre ★★★

📍 Crossroads Mall, Blantyre

"I really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again. Staff are friendly and responsive by email. I got an airport pickup for $30. The room and bathroom were very spacious and even came with a tub! The breakfast is an extensive buffet—not to my taste but I think the locals like it. As for clean food, you can get fresh fruit, coffee with milk, nuts, cucumber and boiled egg. There’s a nice lobby where you can hang out and charge your phone. There is a restaurant inside the hotel but I didn’t eat there. There is an ATM right outside the hotel and inside the mall. I had a room that faced the back side with a lovely view of trees and some urban maize fields. Room had AC and lots of light too."

Serendib Suites and Conference Center

Chinyonga Guesthouse
7.9 (11 reviews)

Chinyonga Guesthouse ★★★

📍 52PR+762, Kalolo Rd, Blantyre

"Bad experience! When settling the bill, prices booked for accommodation were not the prices charged! Prices shown on restaurant menu did not correspond to prices charged either! Instead of making an apology and correcting this we were bluntly told that the prices charged were the "new prices". In other words, you cannot trust that what you book, is what you get. Otherwise, a low-key place that offers a reasonable standard if you are looking for a quiet place close to the hustle and bustle of Limbe and Blantyre."

Casa Mia Lodge & Restaurant
8.6 (19 reviews)

Casa Mia Lodge & Restaurant ★★★

📍 Kabula Hl Rd, Blantyre

"The location is very central. The grounds are spacious and well-maintained. Our room was large and nicely furnished. The garden and pool are a pleasant place to relax. The restaurant is elegant, with excellent food at reasonable prices (in my opinion). All the staff are very friendly and helpful."

📍 Limbi, Blantyre

"The staff were so very attentive to our needs. Each day the food was freshly cooked and delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our staff! Make sure to stop by the coffee shop! The fresh breads & pastries were wonderful. A fresh latte was a fantastic start to our day. Also, make sure to walk through the beautifully maintained garden. We had our final meal served in the garden and it was the perfect ending to our trip!"

"*"I had a wonderful stay at the hotel, and a big part of that was thanks to the amazing staff. Everyone was so kind, respectful, and always ready to help with a smile. You can really feel the love and care they put into their work. The service was smooth, the atmosphere welcoming, and the whole experience felt personal and warm. Thank you for making me feel at home!"*"

Protea Hotel Blantyre Ryalls ★★★★
"I always look forward to my stay at the Ryalls. Each time I arrive it is a feeling of coming home❤️. Greeted by warm friendly faces, the personal touch of a welcome gift (home baked biscuits 😋), and checking in on how you are continuously during your stay. The rooms are comfortable and offer everything you need. Two restaurants and bars within the vicinity and beautiful gardens where you can unwind after a long day of work. The conference rooms are spacious and work well for meetings or conference needs. I can't wait for my next visit!"

Chinyonga Guesthouse ★★★
"I stayed at Chinyonga Guest House with my husband as we attended a friend's wedding in Blantyre. We had a pleasant stay and the staff are very polite and responsive. Spent sometime at the pool and our dinner was served by the pool as well. Very well cooked food and nice basic breakfast. The room was clean as well. Only request would be that they should have mosquito repellent readily available in the rooms. Definitely recommend!"

Casa Mia Lodge & Restaurant ★★★
"Pros: Quiet location (no traffic noise) A short (daytime) walk to a busy part of Blantyre. Good size room. Cons: The safety deposit box was not working - I was told 'it's an old one and so can't be fixed, you can keep things in the reception safe'. Leaking water in bathroom. Very expensive drinks at the bar - 14,000 kwacha / $10 + tourism tax for a bottle of Castle beer (imported from SA). The other, local, beers are 6000 kwacha plus tourism tax so also expensive - Malawi has seen some huge inflation but I paid less than 3000 for the same beers at a lodge in Mulanje. The bill on check out added a 'tourism levy' (tax) to everything I ordered in the restaurant - I was not told about this when ordering and was not charged a tourism levy in any of the other 3 hotels/lodges I stayed in during my time in Malawi. This could have been in the T&Cs however and I just missed it. Breakfast is not particularly great (a la carte) - i had to return undercooked sausages. Overall, the lodge itself is in a good location and i would return again. I would skip the restaurant and go to the Crossroads hotel restaurant which has reasonable prices and good quality food (but no alcohol). Casa Mia definitely had the most expensive beers I found in Malawi, although the very friendly and interesting owner was kind enough to buy me a few so I guess it balanced out."
