Cheap Hotels in Asahikawa

"Facilities: Okay Cleanliness: So-so Environment: Okay Service: So-so I spotted the hotel I booked right after crossing one traffic light from Asahikawa Station – it's really close. Across from the hotel is a large Aeon mall, which is super convenient for shopping. On the first floor, there's a big fresh food supermarket, and around 8:30 PM, sushi and other items often go on half-price sale. Right next to the hotel is the liveliest local shopping street with all sorts of restaurants. Because it was a weekend, a double room cost 800 RMB per night. For a more remote area in Hokkaido, that's quite expensive. On weekdays, it would be around 500 RMB, which is more reasonable. This hotel used to be called Eian International Hotel, but two months after booking, I suddenly received a text and email notification saying it had changed to KOKO Hotel. One thing about this hotel that's a bit unreasonable is that they only clean the rooms once every three consecutive nights. You have to leave towels and trash bags outside your door yourself. Plus, starting this April, they've been charging guests a 300 yen accommodation tax. For two people staying three days, that's 1800 yen in accommodation tax. But they charge this fee while also simplifying the cleaning service – it's just speechless. On the plus side, the cleaning staff here are Japanese, unlike in bigger cities where you often find Nepalese, Indian, or Burmese staff."

"I've stayed at countless hotels during my trips to Japan, and even the old and small ones have always felt worth it. This is truly the first one that I genuinely regret. First, the location. On the map, it doesn't seem far from the JR station, but walking there is a real trek. Whether it's summer or winter, with or without luggage, the path itself is fine, but it's just so far and tiring! Second, the service is very inattentive. I booked a triple room, and I've never encountered a hotel that forgot to make up the third bed! Then, this is an old hotel that was acquired, renovated, and reopened. The overall impression is a bit like a botched renovation project – very makeshift, cobbled together, and carelessly done. They only renovated the parts they want you to see, and for the rest, they just put up a wooden board to cover it up. I booked this place specifically because of the Hoshino Resorts name, and I feel a bit deceived! Finally, the breakfast indeed tastes good, but the variety isn't extensive, though you can get full. If you don't book in advance, you can't add it on the day. If you're just going for the breakfast, I mean, where can't you find breakfast?! (The photos are what they want you to see; imagine the unseen parts yourself!)"

"Hotel's about 10 minutes walk by the track on pedestrian walkway from the station. There's a 7-11 across. Quiet area. Great Onsen with jacuzzi and ishiburo (stone tub) as well as the usual hot and cold pools with sauna. There's no water in the room but they give each guest a coin for their own drinks at the Onsen. Every evening til 9pm, there's free sampling of sakes. Last night, there were five bottles and cos there are no staff, you can sample them unlimited! I think I had about 300ml total. There's free soup but I'd skip them."

"This is my repeated stay at jr inn! The location is super convenient to move around with eateries! There is a big Aeon mall supermarket with all kinds of things!  Room is of decent size and noise insulation is superb!"

"This hotel was unpleasant for non-smokers or those who have quit. The elevator reeked of cigarette smoke, like being in a smoking room, though the lobby staff seemed nice. I didn't notice any smoke smell in my room. The slippers weren't disposable but reusable and supposedly disinfected. I was reluctant to wear them barefoot, so I bought and used disposable slippers. The room wear was worn out and off-putting, but when I tried to put it on over my T-shirt, it smelled like cigarettes. I wondered if it had been laundered and decided not to use it. I imagine smokers wouldn't mind."

"Although it's a small hotel, perhaps because it opened recently, the facilities and service were well-organized, so I had no complaints during my stay. The rooftop bath was a unique advantage that's hard to find in other hotels. The breakfast was also good. However, the room rate in the summer was quite high for the size of the space."

"Hotel Route Inn Grand is a decent hotel that meets basic expectations. The 'Grand' version, being a step up from the regular Route Inn, fulfilled my minimum requirements for accommodation. I've stayed in at least four of them across Hokkaido, and they're consistently neither surprising nor disappointing. That day, I visited Shikisai no Oka in Biei, which was absolutely beautiful."

"Stayed during the off-season, so the room rate was very affordable. The rooms were all very clean. Although it's a bit far from JR station, about a 15-minute walk, it's still acceptable. There's a spa on the first basement floor that's open until midnight. Breakfast is on the 15th floor with a beautiful view. I booked breakfast for two days, and the menu didn't change at all. There was a decent variety of dishes, but no seafood bowls or anything like that, which was a bit disappointing. What was great, though, is that they replenished the food very frequently when it ran out."

"The facilities are a bit old, but that's why the price is so cheap. The double room was surprisingly spacious, easily fitting two suitcases, which I was very happy about. So, I have no complaints, especially considering how affordable it was."
