Cheap Hotels in Moalboal

"They put me in a room that didn't match the one I booked on Trip. When I asked why, the answer was 'overbooking.' The photos don't match the description, and so on. It's best to get here from Moalboal by tricycle, around 150-200 pesos is ideal. The room itself was clean and recently renovated. They make you sign a paper about being responsible for stains on the bedding and towels, which is the first time I've ever seen that. They also took a 1000 peso deposit. Additionally, you're not allowed to make noise, cook, etc. There are water dispensers on each floor. A big TV was a plus, as was the new A/C and fan. The bedding was clean, but there were ants. But the main highlight is the direct access to the sea. There are also two pools and sun loungers. To the right, you can see sardines and turtles. Don't fall for people asking for money for snorkeling! The buffet breakfast was quite good."

"The front desk staff were incredibly warm and helpful! I felt so welcome. It was my first time in the Philippines, and they patiently answered all my travel questions and provided great assistance. The common areas have super gentle resident dogs and cats, who are very well-behaved. The facilities are a little bit dated; mainly, the refrigerator made a slight noise when cooling (though you can just unplug it). Breakfast is à la carte and delicious, especially the corned beef, I think it was called. I slept very soundly. We booked the Sardine Run (our first snorkeling experience) and canyoning through the hotel. Here's how it went: the Sardine Run was 1900 pesos per person? I forgot the price for canyoning, but it wasn't expensive at all, and totally worth it!"

"The hotel is in good condition and quite authentic. We were warmly welcomed and everything was explained clearly. We left a deposit which was returned to us without any issues. The room itself is very good, with air conditioning, a pleasant view, and an excellent shower. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the beach, where you can see sardines and turtles. Thank you!"

"The location is fantastic, a 3-minute walk to the beach, with plenty of dive centers nearby that can organize snorkeling and diving trips. The beach is also close to a sardine storm and turtles. The room is basic, but I didn't like the fact that when I turned on the hot shower, the water pressure was very weak. The colder the water, the stronger the pressure. Regarding the room cleaning, they were perfunctory: they took out the trash, changed the towels, made the bed, and that was it. That's why I'm downgrading my rating a bit. I asked for a plate and knife for fruit, and they brought it right away. There's no breakfast, but there's a cafe on site. The food is delicious, but the wait is long, and not everything on the breakfast menu was available. For example, I couldn't order the Filipino breakfast because there was no rice!"

"Excellent hotel! The rooms are cozy, and the staff are polite and helpful. The rooms are fresh and clean, and the grounds are well-maintained too. The location isn't the most convenient if you're on foot, but the hotel itself is in a beautiful spot. They also offer scooters at a very good price – cheaper than renting them 'on the street'. When we arrived, all the scooters were taken, but the girls at the reception suggested a company they work with, and everything was delivered right to the hotel for us. When a hotel scooter became available, we took that. They also helped us with tours. We initially booked the hotel for 2 nights, but we loved it so much that we extended our stay for another 3. By the way, the transfer from the hotel is also more cost-effective than arranging it yourself. The hotel owners, Nick and Raquel, are very kind and open-hearted; it was a real pleasure and very interesting to chat with them. Abigail and the other girls are also positive and always ready to help. At this hotel, you feel like you're visiting close relatives. Thank you! We would be very happy to stay with you again!)"

"Not satisfied with the service, Disappointed with our experience at Moalboal Tropics. We arrived at 9am hoping for an early check-in, but were made to wait until 2pm. Even basic amenities like pool towels were a struggle - told they weren't dry yet. Poor service for a premium experience. 😕 basically the filipino hospitality is not that welcoming. We are local but i don't think the practice is being serve."

"The room didn't feel clean or safe. There were a lot of ants and mosquitoes. The water pressure was very weak. The window overlooked the wall of the neighboring building. There's no refrigerator in the room. The mirrors and windows were dirty, and there was dust everywhere. The power outlets were only local type, but they provided two adapters; however, we had many more devices, so we had to charge them one by one. We booked a family room with three separate beds, but all had different bedding. Instead of blankets, there were just throws. The towels were old. The room had four shampoo packets and three small soaps that didn't lather at all. The location is a plus, but there was no asphalt at the hotel entrance, leading to many puddles. The hotel pool was dirty and old, with a lot of small debris floating around, and too much chlorine."

"They consider themselves a resource and it is not clear why more like a hostel. Nice room, has hot water. The area is good. The food is nothing and the price is expensive for what you get"

"I had a pleasant stay at West Coast Beach House in Moalboal, Cebu. The room was simple and comfortable enough during the stay. The team member were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. One thing to note is that it’s best to bring your own toilet amenities. Overall, it’s a nice, straightforward place to stay if you’re looking for something basic with warm and helpful service."

"A very pleasant hotel with nice, clean rooms that stay cool. The air conditioning was turned off at night. The room was cleaned daily, and it smelled wonderfully of clean linens. Beautiful grounds, smoking allowed on the veranda, free short-distance shuttle service, and the option to book excursions. A parrot was also provided. Cons: sick dogs wandering around the grounds and pooping on the beautiful lawn. I was very dissatisfied with the organization of the excursion transfer. When we booked a canyoning trip with a private transfer, there was no driver waiting for us on the return trip. We had to call one and wait a very long time in the heat (people on a shared transfer had left much earlier). We were told the driver was taking other guests somewhere and we had to wait for him to take them and then come pick us up. We paid 5,000 pesos for the tour and private transfer for two (we could easily have found cheaper). The staff also asked if it was possible to add a neighbor from another room to ours (which was fine, we didn't mind). For that extra cost, they could have taken a more careful approach to transporting guests who were tired after canyoning. The tour itself and the guides were excellent."
