Oak Ray Wild Yala ★★★★★
"The environment is great and quiet, and both the courtyard and rooms are clean. There are also heaters in case it gets cold at night. However, the in-room facilities are a bit old, the shower water pressure is low, and dinner was just okay. But for a hotel in the mountains, it's understandable, and compared to other hotels nearby, it's still worth recommending."
Cinnamon Wild Yala ★★★★★
"Highly recommend! I absolutely loved this hotel. The cabins are beautiful, and the dinner was fantastic. Watching crocodiles from the hotel and going on a safari was an amazing experience. They even offered breakfast upon our return and provided simple coffee and pastries when we checked out, which was a very thoughtful touch."
Saffron Lake Yala ★★★★
"Saffron Lake Yala was exactly the escape I needed. After living in Australia, I came here to relax—and I truly got what I was looking for. The food was excellent, the staff were incredibly helpful, and the scenery was simply beautiful. The peaceful surroundings made it easy to slow down, unwind, and reconnect with nature. I left feeling refreshed and deeply relaxed. 🌿✨"
Hotel Tamarind Tree ★★★★★
"Lovely hotel. Stayed here for just one night so we could do the yala safari the following morning. Staff very welcoming and even layed out a special table arrangement for our dinner as it was our honeymoon. Breakfast was boxed and arranged ready for our trip to the safari. Would highly recommend staying here"
DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort ★★★★★
"Out of all the places we stayed during our Sri Lanka trip, this hotel’s environment truly blew me away. ✨ **[Impeccable Eco-Environment: Living in a Natural Grand Park]** The hotel's core highlight is its unparalleled natural setting. The entire property feels like a meticulously maintained natural park, where the landscaping seamlessly blends with the surrounding lake. The scenery, with the water and sky mirroring each other, is incredibly therapeutic. Walking around the grounds, you’ll see egrets gracefully strolling on the lawns or flying low overhead, and various small animals everywhere. Even lizards, which are “standard Southeast Asian fare,” add to the ecological feel – it truly feels like living in a wildlife park. The hotel's outdoor pool is large and expansive, offering direct lake views, perfect for photos and relaxation. There’s also a dedicated boardwalk by the lake, ideal for cycling or a stroll in the evening, enjoying the lake breeze and watching the sunset – it's so comfortable you won’t want to leave. 🏊♂️ **[Facilities and Rooms: Basic but Solid, Bathroom a Huge Plus]** The room generally boasts Hilton's standard configuration – clean and spacious. The bathroom, in particular, is very large, making it comfortable to use. Given that it's an eco-park in Sri Lanka, occasionally you might find small mosquitoes near the toilet, which is normal for Southeast Asian hotels and perfectly acceptable. The hotel has two restaurants, offering both à la carte and buffet options. The food quality is decent, and they support Alipay and WeChat Pay, which is much more cost-effective than using local currency directly. 🍽️ **[Dining Experience: Lacking Highlights, Buffet Rather Ordinary]** Due to an upset stomach, we didn’t try the buffet and ordered à la carte, which tasted pretty good. The breakfast buffet looked like it had many options and was quite crowded, but in reality, there weren't many choices that suited our taste. Also, because there are many Indian guests staying, both breakfast and dinner had dedicated Indian food sections. For tourists not used to strong flavors, this further limited the options. Compared to a five-star hotel's positioning, the breakfast as a whole was only average, which is a common issue with most hotels in Sri Lanka. 📍 **[Location and Travel: An Excellent Base for Safari]** The hotel is not far from Yala National Park's Safari area, making it very convenient whether you’re driving yourself or using a private car. We personally found that there’s no need to rush for an early morning safari; an afternoon departure offered a much better experience. We saw a leopard as soon as we entered the park and also spotted most of the iconic animals mentioned in guidebooks. There's no need to get up early and rush, and you can return to the hotel to relax right after – the pace was incredibly comfortable. Always prioritize using Alipay/WeChat for payments, as the exchange rate is much better than using local currency directly. Overall, this hotel is absolutely worth staying at, thanks to its stunning ecological environment and excellent location! If you're coming for the safari and natural scenery, this place will definitely be a highlight of your trip. The only minor regret is that the dining didn't quite match the overall quality."
Shangri-La Hambantota ★★★★★
"Best accommodation for familles. Staff were very accomodating. A lot of activities to do for kids"
Jetwing Yala ★★★★★
"Nice place for relaxing for couple days. It has big and nice pool. The pool guard (Dilash) is just amazing. He is always there to help you with everything. I hope the hotell will upgrade him. The woman in reception is aweful, she seems to be always tierd, and she never smiled, The hotel should change receptionist. We drove with our tuktuk to The hotel wich was very difficult, so dont do that!! Breakfast was ok but nothing more. There is a nice bar with a god service. Hotel rooms are little bit old."
Tree Tops Yala ★★★
"A gem of a place near Nimalaya Aranya, just 15 minutes to the Yala Main Entrance. Appu's cooking and hosting is out of this world. They organised a great safari to Yala where I saw the elusive lepoard and many Elephants. A must visit place in Yala with nature and birds surrounding you. "
Lankavatara Ocean Retreat & Spa ★★★★
"Fantastic place to end a tour of Sri Lanka. Well-maintained, very clean, and fantastic food. A massage is highly recommended!"

Palm Paradise Cabanas & Villas Beach Resort
"Lovely location. But bedding could be a bit fresher smelling. The place is lovely though.Very tropical!Recommend Silent Beach. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. We do recommend Palm Paradise Cabanas and Villas and beach Resort."
Lagoon Gate Tangalle Resort
"Wonderful lunch , great SL hospitality. Our tour group stopped at this boutique resort for lunch. It was a friendly resort. The rooms ware well appointed. We watched birds, monitors, and even a snake , while resting in the shade listening to a local band playing music. Lunch was crayfish, prawns bbq fish - all delicious. While this resort is off the beaten track , it is a restful place to escape to for a few days."
Jetwing Jungle Lodge, A Luxury Reserve
"A precious memory of being able to see elephants in person... We truly had an authentic jungle experience. My family was satisfied, and the food and hotel facilities were also great."
Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort
"The room can go directly to the beach. The hotel is very large and has a nice fragrance. There is a gym and a spa. You can play billiards and table tennis. It is a resort-style hotel, suitable for lying down for a few days. The fruits and drinks for breakfast are rich and fresh. Good reviews"
Ziba Luxury Villa
"Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property."
Uga Chena Huts - Yala - All Inclusive
"Uga chena Huts What a fantastic place my wife and I stayed 3 nights and had the closest encounters with elephants and all the other animals in the national park. The staff were all so welcoming and made us feel at home with their big warm smiles. Thank you The food was some of the best food I have ever had and we come. From Melbourne where there’s a great food seen. Don’t miss staying at the wonderful place highly recommended and would definitely go back again."
O2 Villas Yala
"We spent three nights here, and it was an absolute dream. Every single member of the staff was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and helpful. They contributed enormously to our positive experience. We were looked after with great care, and every wish was fulfilled with genuine attentiveness and kindness. The food was spectacular—truly at an outstanding level. We have not eaten better anywhere else. Chef Danushka is a true master of his craft, and every dish reflected his talent and passion. The hotel also provided us with an excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the area and showed us so many beautiful places. The evening beach tour is highly recommended—it was by far the most beautiful beach I have seen in Sri Lanka. Nestled in the middle of the jungle, the hotel offers the unique opportunity to observe wildlife directly from your room. One morning, the hotel organized a safari for us in Yala National Park, which was absolutely breathtaking. We saw an incredible number of animals, and the driver did a fantastic job, ensuring we had the best possible experience and could see as much as possible. Since we did not want to take our eight-month-old daughter on the safari, Dinithi from the Operations Team lovingly took care of her. We were so grateful. She did a wonderful job—our daughter adored her and always lit up with a big smile whenever she saw her. This stay was truly unforgettable, and we cannot recommend this place highly enough."
Kithala Resort - Thema Collection
"We had a wonderful stay at Kithala Resort. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived, they gave us such a warm welcome and always made sure we were comfortable and well looked after every time we needed anything. The resort was cleanppp and well maintained, and we especially loved the beautiful balcony view. It was such a peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy our time. Overall, we had a lovely experience and truly appreciated the hospitality and care from the staff. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay."
Ravan Resort Tangalle
"This resort is definetely worth recommending. There are a variety of rooms and the room we had was spacious and nicely decorated. There was a lamp and a small fridge and electici jug. The AC worked well and the pool was soooo amazing! We loved it here. The owner is on call if there are any communication issues and was happy to help with all our requests and questions."
Ananya Beach Resort
"Off the beaten track but worth the effort right on the beach. You can walk along the beach for miles and not meet anybody but a lot of surf and not suitable for bathing at this time of year. On the top floor great view very relaxing great pool. Ideally you need your own transport . Have no hesitation in recommending this venue and would return anytime."
Shalom Resorts Yala
"Excellent hotel: quiet, cozy, with a beautiful panoramic view from the room. The pool is wonderful. It has its own convenient parking and friendly staff."
Shine Park
"From the moment I arrived at Shine Park Guest House, everything exceeded my expectations. The guest house exudes charm and comfort with its cozy, well-appointed rooms and friendly, attentive staff. The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast—a delightful spread of fresh fruits, local delicacies, pastries, and a perfect cup of coffee that truly set the tone for a fantastic day."
Villa Blu
"We had a very nice stay at Villa Blu, we got an upgrade. Our room was excellent, the food was excellent and the poeple are very friendly. The Coffee is very good. Specially made, every cup. The fruit, breakfast. Everything. The swimming pool is nice when the ocean is to rough to swim. We were there at the and of the season,so then a pool is very nice after a rough walk along the sea. Our last dinner was very special,in the garden,by candellight and music as well. We feel gratefull!"
EKHO Safari Tissa
"Completely not worth it. For this standard, it would only be about 400 RMB in China. I stayed at the Hilton in Colombo for less than 1000, and that was a true 5-star experience. It's really true that the poorer the place, the more expensive it gets. Plus, there were mosquitoes everywhere, and even geckos in the room. The cleaning staff knocked on my door three times in one morning; I was truly annoyed."
Lagoon Paradise Beach Resort
"We have been travelling around Sri Lanka (from Ireland) for two weeks and this was the BEST place we have been. The staff are wonderful, warm and kind. They go out of their way to be helpful. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The AC worked perfect. The sunloungers and the ocean are so relaxing. The restaurant is the best food we’ve had here. Had a wonderful stay :) :)"
