You have your own private entrance as well as a sweet sitting area in front of your entrance. The home features an upstairs loft with a comfortable Queen size bed, and downstairs has a mini couch, that turns into a twin size bed for your convenience .This property is ideal for adults 21 years of age or older. Unfortunately it is not kid friendly, nor pet friendly due to the size and also because of the ladder in the home. The ladder is sturdy and secure, yet very steep. The only access point up to the loft is to climb this ladder, so a lien waiver is required to be signed when this property is booked. If you rent between November and March and arrive in a Toyota Prius - you will still be responsible for finding a way to vacate the property at the end of your stay if it snows!!* The cabin is a hand-built, 30-year-old log retreat nestled deep in the woods. While it has been completely modernized and is regularly treated for pests, the surrounding nature sometimes finds its way indoors.* Water at the cabin is supplied by a private cistern fed by a state of the art potable rain-water catchment system that converts all the water at the cabin to purified, drinkable water. The capacity of the tank is ample, but can and will run out of water with long-term excessive water use. Short showers are especially appreciated - as we have a super high-efficiency tankless water heater that delivers hot water within 30 seconds of demand.* There are two security cameras outside. At the front door and on the side of the house pointing at the driveway. These cameras are used solely to protect our guests and our home.* Our property backs up to State Land and the Flagstaff Urban Trail System. A short hike down our property and you can access the trail system and explore it all the way to downtown.* Elk Horn Cabin is an heirloom family home that is deeply loved and cared for. Welcome to our historic log cabin in the Flagstaff pines where we've created the perfect family getaway. Bordering national forest, this spacious and luxurious rustic retreat features modern updates and amenities to make your stay comfortable and entertaining. Outside you are steps away from trails that lead to the famous Walnut Canyon or Arizona Trail. Minutes from Lake Mary, downtown Flagstaff and Snowbowl. Adjacent to the cabin is Hitchin' Post stables where you can enjoy guided horseback riding.The spaceOur cabin is situated on a 1-acre property bordering National Forest. The driveway leads around the backside of the home to the main entry door. Upon entering, you'll encounter a long hallway with a half bathroom. Just past that bathroom the hallway opens up to the large dining room that features a massive wooden table as old as the home that serves as an excellent gathering place for your groups dining needs. This leads to the spacious open kitchen. Just off of the kitchen is a bunk room with four twin bunks a flat screen TV and a half bathroom. The laundry room is open to this bedroom and features a washer and dryer for your convenience. Just beyond the bunk room is another bedroom with a queen bedroom and a desk for your work needs. Just past the kitchen is the downstairs living room that features comfortable seating, a large TV and an exit to another porch off of the front side of the room that leads to the hot tub. Just off of the living room are three bedrooms and a full bathroom. The bedrooms are Queen, Queen, and twin bunk. Upstairs you have the game room to the right, with a billiards/ping-pong table, a sleeper sofa, a full bathroom, and a Queen loft. The primary suite has a King bed, trundle twins, and a full bathroom on the other side. Please do not go past the fence into the Hitchin Post Stables.Other things to noteWhile the exterior porches and furniture are cleaned after each stay, during certain times of the year you may experience more debris from weather, native plants, and pollen. In the event the outdoor space is not sufficiently clean to your liking we provide a broom and basic cleaning supplies that can be used at your convenience! Although issues are rare, due to the nature of the spa, we cannot guarantee its use during your stay. The spa is cleaned & maintained twice per week during peak seasons by a local spa company. Since we cannot control or guarantee their immediate assistance on spa issues we recommend you do not book the home based solely on the use of the spa.***Please note, the Spa service tech will let himself into the yard during work days / hours to access the spa for service. Please do not exceed the agreed upon number of guests at any given time. Please, no pets (not even just to visit), parties, or smoking in or around the property. Additional fines for each violation will be charged to the guest who booked and you will forfeit the remainder of your stay with no refund.***Please note that there are stairs, large steps and a ladder in the home to access certain rooms, or parts of the home. The roads are maintained and plowed by the county, we cannot guarantee timing of the plowing. If you desire an early check in, please reach out to us the morning of your scheduled arrival. We often have same day check outs and check ins so we just need to ensure that our cleaner has enough time to properly clean and restock the home and that our maintenance crew has sufficient time to take care of any needed items prior to your arrival. The Marshall Cottage was built in 1946 and is located in the highly desired “NoHo” district (North of the Hospital). We are within walking distance or an inexpensive Uber or Lyft ride of Historic Downtown Flagstaff and just a few minutes from AZ Snowbowl.We are also just down the street from Buffalo Park with great hiking and biking trails and one block from the hospital. We are .9 miles to Dark Sky Brewing and are less than ½ mile (8 min walk) to McPherson Park with access to 3 carpeted tennis courts, a children’s playground, hiking trails to access Buffalo Park, Jay Lively hockey rink, and frisbee golf. Our cozy cottage sleeps 4 guests plus 2 couch surfers (full size futon). We have two bedrooms (1 queen bed, 1 full bed) with one full bathroom, onsite parking for 2 cars (driveway only), fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and fenced backyard. WIFI and satellite television is available.We invite you to “unplug” and enjoy our living room for conversation, reading, and listening to music—including vinyl!Flagstaff offers unlimited activities in every season! The booking platform no longer considers Covid exposure a valid reason for a refund, as it was a known issue at the time of booking, 2 years into a pandemic. There are multiple travel insurance companies that do still cover it.
