The sea-view room is absolutely beautiful, offering stunning views of the ocean and even trains slowly pulling into and out of the station along the coast. There's a large supermarket within walking distance, and a 'knock-off' Mixue Ice Cream store not too far away. Even if you don't go out, you can enjoy endless sea views and watch the sunset – it's incredibly good value!
Visited Colombo during off-peak season so we managed to visit the city with less crowd. Views from any sea-facing room is incredible for its price - slight blocking with 2 towers in front but you can get a better unblocked view if you go for Premium tier rooms. I have to commend reception staff Anjala, who managed upsell me a Premium Seaview Room from a Superior Seaview Room. He took the time to explain the differences between each tier, accommodated to my budget constraints, and brought me to each room (empty ones of course) for a viewing before committing to an upgrade. After hearing that I was there on honeymoon (my husband would only arrive later), he relayed that to the rest of the team who took care of us wonderfully throughout our 4-day stay. Overall, room is clean and roomy, perfect for business calls with fast and reliable in-room wifi. Only downside is their TV doesn't have Netflix or Airplay, only Miracast for Android/Windows users. Tip for travellers: tell your driver this used to be Movenpick hotel - they will know where to drop you off.
I chose this hotel because I had a night flight.
I was worried that it was a new hotel and not listed on Google Maps, but I managed to get there.
I didn't know what to do when I arrived at the hotel at night, so my taxi driver contacted them.
The owner was very kind! ︎The room was clean, and the garden was cleaned in the morning! ︎
I recently stayed at Amari Colombo in Colombo, and overall I had a wonderful experience.
I was especially impressed with Nishel. Despite his young age, he was extremely professional, respectful, and attentive to our needs. He immediately helped us find the most suitable room for our stay and handled everything efficiently. Upekha was also very helpful and kind throughout our visit, always ready to assist with a smile.
The only negative point was the early check-in policy. We arrived around 5:00 a.m. and were asked to pay an additional $150, which felt quite expensive and significantly higher than the average nightly rate listed on various booking platforms.
Other than that, everything was excellent. The view was stunning, the rooms were spotless, and the breakfast was rich and delicious, offering many options from both local and international cuisine.
I would definitely choose to stay here again. Thank you for the warm hospitality!
Very good hotel, close to everything.
Good breakfast - variety of dishes, local and international, but slightly overpriced. Nice pool, didn't check the gym. Bed is comfortable. Room temperature can be regulated.
Somewhat slow check in process, but they offer tamarind juice on arrival.
Didn't try coconut at the bar, you can buy them outside for 150 LKR !
Uber Eats can be ordered to the hotel in case you want to try other restaurants.
An excellent stay that truly reflects the warmth and professionalism of true Sri Lankan hospitality.
The hotel was comfortable, efficient service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The staff were exceptionally courteous, attentive, and professional throughout my stay, making the experience seamless and enjoyable.
Overall, a fantastic stay with outstanding service. Highly recommended for both business and leisure travelers.
This was my second stay at Cinnamon Grand. My first experience was excellent. This time, I checked in late, and since the rooms in the usual section were full, I was assigned a room on the other side. The facilities there felt noticeably older, the hairdryer was broken, and the bathroom was smaller than in the other section. Furthermore, the cleanliness was poor – there were clumps of hair and a dead cockroach, and no slippers were provided. It felt like the two sections of the hotel had different standards for room upkeep. Since it was late when I checked in and I was only staying for two nights, I decided not to ask the hotel to change my room. If you're staying here, I recommend choosing a room accessed via the front desk entrance, rather than the one next to the pastry shop. I hope the hotel can improve the standards of these rooms.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. During check-in, there was a system issue, and I was initially assigned two double rooms. The staff member then had to check four different rooms to find a correct single room for me. I really appreciate their effort.
The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the beach. However, it's quite a distance from the artificial harbor and the shopping mall, so it's best to take a tuk-tuk.
We came to Sri Lanka for Chinese New Year, and the country gave us a wonderful experience. The hotel's service was excellent; they even added an extra bed for us since we were traveling with a child. That evening, we had Chinese food on the 10th floor and saw the stunning infinity pool. The Chinese food was quite good. Breakfast was also fantastic, and we got to see the small seaside train from the second floor where we ate! And, of course, the ocean! The tea here is excellent, definitely worth trying.
Facilities: The facilities are very new, and the bedding is very comfortable.
Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent.
Service: The service is good, and the breakfast selection is rich.
Environment: The environment is nice. The room offers direct views of the sea and the famous 'internet-famous' mini-train. Compared to some other five-star hotels, it's a bit further from popular restaurants and shopping malls.

Very Good
MManuri LinaraI recently stayed at this hotel, and overall, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. Although the location is a little far from Colombo, I actually found it to be a positive aspect, as it gave us a chance to relax away from the busy city. After staying here, we continued our journey to Negombo, and the distance worked out just fine for us.
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome. A special mention must go to Divni, who was incredibly sweet and attentive. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, constantly checking if everything was going well and offering help whenever needed. Her warmth and hospitality truly stood out and made a big difference to our experience.
Check-in did take a little longer than expected, and there were some initial issues with the room reservation and meal plan arrangements. However, the staff handled the situation politely and worked to resolve it, which I appreciated.
The food was one of the highlights of our stay. The buffet by the pool was excellent, offering a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The action stations were a nice touch, adding freshness and variety to the meals. Everything I tried was delicious, and I found myself looking forward to each meal.
One of the most unique experiences was the afternoon tea at Kurulu Kele, which felt like stepping into a peaceful rural village. The setting was calm and relaxing, and the ginger tea along with the fish cutlets were simply delightful. Swinging on the onchillawa after so many years brought back childhood memories and added a special charm to the whole experience.
The beach view from the hotel is another highlight. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean was breathtaking. I especially enjoyed spending time outside in the afternoons, just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the natural beauty.
Overall, I truly believe this hotel is worth every penny spent. I loved my time here and will definitely return. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great hospitality, delicious food, and a peaceful getaway.
TtoranekoThis hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing in Colombo. You can see the sea from the room and walk to watch the trains run along the coast.
There was no hairdryer, so I called the front desk to have one brought up, but they gave me one that seemed to be for wall mounting, which was a bit inconvenient. Also, there was no refrigerator.
GGlobetrotter20Cinnamon Lakeside is an upscale hotel resort in the heart of downtown Colombo
From front desk service to spacious & well-maintained rooms to amazing amenities including a fully equipped gym (sauna & hammam) with an outdoor pool with view on the Beira lake, this property is a top choice for a comfortable stay in Sri Lankan capital.
Highly recommended :
Amazing service 👍
Beautiful and tasty room decoration👍
Amazing facilities for a « city resort » property 👍
Delicious breakfast 👍
GGuest UserHotel is in the heart of Colombo and very prominent location in Sri Lanka. I love the garden view. Food is excellent choices. Staff everyone is very courteous and well organise and presentable. All staff are consistently helpful. Special thanks to the restaurant staff Kamani ,Randil and Imesh. I will definitely comeback to this hotel when my next visit. My appreciation to all staff members during my stay.

CCJ12A beautiful building in a very pleasant area of Colombo; the architecture and interior design of the hotel are a joy to behold and the vast majority of staff are polite and courteous. Plenty of amenities nearby to suit all tastes and interests. The breakfasts were great both mornings (both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the Western style), and they really lived up to the high expectations we’d had from the Instagram marketing we’d seen.
We were upgraded to the North West Suite, which was a larger room, for which we were greatly appreciative; a couple of issues with working plugs and appliances (coffee machine and hair dryer) were reported and rectified, although the wiring/plugs more broadly were temperamental and poorly placed (as expected, possibly, with the charm of an older hotel). However, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and the bathroom was well appointed.
Our only qualm was with the overzealous Head of Housekeeping, who seemed to not grasp the subtlety required for such a role, or the privacy with which guests might like to enjoy the beautiful hotel. It appeared that he lingered all too often in search of a tip, and didn’t quite appreciate the boundaries one might desire when paying a reasonable fee for each night. My wife and I took to speedily locking the door and placing the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the handle to keep his incessant interrupting to a minimum. His deputy was, however, an asset to the hotel, who seemed to comprehend the subtle art of providing high quality service for a luxury stay in a lovely hotel.
All-in-all, a great choice for a hotel in the heart of Colombo, and hopefully, during a busier season, the aforementioned Head of Housekeeping might spread his overbearing attention across the many rooms of the hotel.
OOlga’TA magnificent hotel, with delicious and varied breakfasts and beautiful, spacious rooms.
Daily cleaning, shampoo, lotions, and a full toiletries kit.
You can also exchange dollars; I highly recommend it.
However, during my stay, I wasn't offered a spa treatment even once, and there was no information at reception.
GGuest UserEverything about mandarina Colombo was good. We stayed there for two nights and I can write very highly about it. They have an excellent location their infinity pool is very good and you can have a good view of the ocean from the infinity pool. It's located right opposite Marina Mall and it's walking distance from Marine drive and it's very near to the galle face beach which is the most happening area in Colombo. The breakfast spread was very good. Staff was very courteous. Very clean and premium stay! Highly recommended!
BBeeshman BahiradanGreat location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean and stylish. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.
MMatthew JamesThis was my third stay at the Goldi Sands, honestly, the last time was nearly 20 years ago but I had such a great time back then I had high expectations. In the intervening 20 years, the hotel has had a revamp, double the size, double the number of swimming pools, added an elevator and they've removed the beach-fronted bungalows. All of which I think was a smart move and well worth doing. What has changed is the service and the catering. The staff are of course all very polite just that they didn't go the extra mile like they used to. We arrived late as our flight had been delayed, all I wanted was a couple of bottles of beer, they did arrive but I almost had to beg. I booked a taxi to the airport with the front desk, but they forgot, the waitresses at dinner were all about the hard upsell rather than serving. The breakfast as far as my memory serves me used to be awesome, today's breakfast is the same every day and lacks imagination, is poorly presented, and includes the worst coffee ever. The hotel has a confusing number of tariffs from all-inclusive to room only which means if you want to buy a drink it takes forever as they have to check your ”status” and then if you pay cash they have to go to the cashier as they carry no float. The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable but basic. All in all it is still a good hotel to choose but sadly it is no longer in the memorable category.
