The room was spacious, perfect for a small family. The highlight, of course, was the view, sea and pool views that were absolutely lovely. One night was definitely not enough. Just open the window and you’ll feel the sea breeze; so calm and so beautiful.
Breakfast was fairly normal, nothing fancy. If you’re not local, I’d recommend going out for breakfast around Kuantan town, there are so many great options to choose from.
For dinner, Ana Ikan Bakar Petai is just right in front of the hotel. It’s the most famous restaurant in Tanjung Lumpur and within walking distance.
Definitely will come again for a short vacay.
The island's scenery is breathtaking, especially in the evenings as the sun sets. The combination of the boardwalk, the water, the clouds, and the seagulls is truly captivating. You can also snorkel and kayak on the island, or simply relax on a cushion by the beach, gazing at the clear blue water, listening to the crashing waves, and minding your own business. It's a relaxing and comfortable experience.
The rooms are decorated in a wood-style style. Ours even had a small pool, a patio, and a small loft. Everything was well-equipped. Knowing we were Chinese tourists, they even switched the Netflix program on the TV to Chinese—a thoughtful touch. The hotel also offers a turndown service with scented candles and a small note on a leaf, making you feel instantly at home. Regarding food, there's a Malaysian restaurant and an Italian restaurant on the island (the hotel owner is Italian, married to a Malaysian woman, and built a hotel here). Breakfast is served at the hotel's buffet, offering both a buffet and à la carte options. The bread, various toasts, muffins, and yogurt are all delicious. I recommend ordering the ones with peanut butter. We only ate at the Italian restaurant once, which was average. The rest of our stay was at the Malaysian restaurant. The chef is a master at making rich, spicy, sour, and fried dishes, and he's very humorous. The smoothies are also very authentic, and I especially recommend the green apple juice, which is a refreshing summer treat. There's also a small bar during happy hour that sells grilled food and fresh seafood. We didn't know about it and missed it, but we ended up ordering a burger, which was amazing! The gravy was juicy, and while the bread was a little dry, it outweighed the problem. Even the roasted potatoes on the side were delicious! Finally, the hotel service here is impeccable. The staff greets you with a smile and immediately seeks to assist you with any needs. In short, it feels like home, and thinking of them brings a sense of security.
Transportation was a bit of a hassle. We landed at Kuala Lumpur Airport, chartered a car to Mersing for a ferry, and spent a few hours exploring Malacca along the way. We departed from the airport's Outlet at around 2:00 PM, arrived in Malacca around 4:00 or 5:00 PM, and departed for Mersing at 7:00 PM, arriving around 11:00 PM. We slept in a homestay in Mersing. The next day, we took the 11:30 PM ferry to Tioman Island, and then another ten-minute ride on the hotel's boat to the hotel. It was a hassle, but on our last day, the hotel dropped us off at the Tioman Island jetty for the ferry. Seeing them say goodbye to us, I couldn't help but think I'd return one day. Besides the scenery, it was their simplicity, sincerity, and thoughtfulness that made this hotel feel like home. It truly was ”home, sweet home.”
The Chateau is a family friendly resort, it is also a great place for events like weddings or celebration.
When you arrive to the chateau, it feels as if you were in a fairy tale, castle in the woods. The condition and maintenance of the chateau is awesome, very cozy yet grand at the same time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to their guests, providing top notch service. There are many different locations to explore and activities to do around the facilities, which make the stay a very eye opening and entertaining one. The room was beautiful, interior design to perfection, very comfy and clean, definitely had a good rest. The food provided at the chateau, one mouth watering meal, it definitely satisfied our taste buds.
Overall the experience at this hotel was fantastic, one that I would recommend to many. I would definitely come back again in the future.
A 3-day, 2-night stay. It was school holidays, so there were a lot of people. This is my second time coming here with Trip. The cheap room price was worth it. Thank you very much, Trip.
I understand that this is the largest hotel in Kuantan and it is imposing. They decorated enthusiastically for Christmas. The rooms are large enough with clean linens and a firm mattress. The location is great since it's across the road from the largest mall. The coffee lounge was satisfactory. The main problem area was that almost no one spoke basic English well enough to understand simple requests. They try and mean well but only a few could understand what I wanted. This was very frustrating. We stayed in this hotel three years ago as well, and there was not this problem at that time. Also, the safe in our room did not work.
The location is convenient, making it easy to get around and find nearby dining options. The room was clean and well-maintained, which made the stay comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and both the check-in and check-out processes were smooth and efficient.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Kuantan, especially the ambience and hospitality. However, there are a few areas that require attention.
Cons / Areas for Improvement:
1. Water pressure was quite slow, especially for the shower. When turned to hot water, the pressure increased, but once switched to cold, it became extremely weak.
2. There was water maintenance work happening during our stay. Although the hotel assured that everything was under control, it did affect our comfort while on holiday.
3. We noticed a small clump of dust on the floor. While it was minor, as we were staying with a 2-year-old toddler, it raised concerns as children tend to put things into their mouth. Housekeeping may need to be more thorough.
4. There should be better control of wild monkeys, especially around the parking area. I was chased and nearly bitten, which was quite frightening and unsafe for guests.
Pros / What We Appreciate:
1. Excellent service recovery — I forgot to disable the “Do Not Disturb” sign but informed the front desk to clean the room. The housekeeping staff called first to ask for permission before entering, which shows professionalism and true 5-star service standards.
2. The hotel’s surroundings are beautiful, clean, and very calming — truly breathtaking.
3. The beach is very clean and conveniently located right next to the hotel.
4. Large swimming pools (two pools available), so it never felt crowded.
5. Staff were extremely friendly, polite, and always willing to help.
Conclusion:
Hyatt Regency Kuantan has great potential with its beautiful location, facilities, and outstanding staff. With improvements in water system management, housekeeping checks, and wildlife control, the overall guest experience would be even better.
I stayed one night (Sunday to Monday) at the Wyndham Ion Majestic in Genting Highlands. The hotel was well organized, even though many local guests were staying over the weekend. My room was typical Wyndham style – a bit traditional and slightly old‑fashioned, but in good overall condition and well maintained. Overall, a solid stay with nice views and a comfortable atmosphere for a short break in Genting.
We had a great stay at Swiss-Garden Hotel Genting Highlands with our 6 year old. The room was very spacious and super clean, which made travelling as a family much more comfortable. Everything felt well maintained and tidy.
The rooftop swimming pool was a lovely bonus — clean, relaxing, and a great spot for our child to enjoy while we took in the views. The hotel had a calm, family-friendly vibe, perfect for a short getaway.
Overall, a comfortable and clean hotel that works really well for families with young children. We’d happily stay here again!
The room was clean and tidy when we check in.
Found some stains to the comforter and pillows upon the check in.
Request of cleaning of room was not very well done as we notice floor was still dirty when we back and no new small towel was not given.
Lobby Staffs are friendly and helpful.

LlikoniaThe best stay ever! Lepas ni memang duduk sini je 😍 tempat selesa & bersih! Customer service terbaik! Disebabkan kami stay dekat sini tanpa dirancang, jadi nak taknak kena basuh baju kotor. Yup ada washer & dryer 2in1. So basuh semalaman, ingatkan esok tu dah kering. Rupanya dryer unit kita orang ada problem, tapi customer service sangat pantas bagi solusi! Staff tolong keringkan dekat unit lain & kita orang dapat check out lambat sampai baju kering tanpa bayar extra! Thank you so much! My family dari Sarawak nak repeat duduk sini lagi! Harga pun berbaloi walaupun time cuti sekolah ya! Yang penting cantik!
GGuest UserAmma make this one short,
The place is nice, staff were amazing, food could be alot better i mean depedns its almost all Asian.
For all coming to visit, this place is more like a romantic trip than a family vacay.
The beach is very bad TBH its all rocky, no beach front that you can actually lay on and enjoy the dash o'water
The closest lets say snorkelling requires a package purchase or if you know a sea taxi, as relying on this beach's marine life its sad, dead coral everywhere.

GGuest UserAlthough the hotel is a bit old, it offers great value for money. The beach is beautiful, the environment is relaxing, and everything is clean and well maintained. I truly enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come back again!”
EElvis SeowExceptional Stay – Truly One of the Best Holidays We’ve Had
We stayed at Antara Residences – Sleeping Lion for 3 days and 2 nights in a 3-bedroom apartment, and it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish.
Cleanliness & Apartment Condition:
The apartment was spotlessly clean and in tip-top condition. Everything was well maintained, and it was clear that a lot of care goes into housekeeping. Toiletries were fully provided, which made the stay even more comfortable and hassle-free.
Outstanding Staff & Service:
What truly stood out was the exceptional service from every department:
Reception staff were very friendly, welcoming, and informative.
Housekeeping responded incredibly fast — extra towels were delivered in under 10 minutes after our request.
We experienced a slight choke in one of the common toilets, and the technician arrived in less than 10 minutes and resolved it within 5 minutes. Super efficient.
Security deserves special mention — always alert, professional, and even greeting or saluting guests, which made us feel very safe and respected throughout our stay.
Facilities – Thoughtfully Designed & Family-Friendly
The facilities were excellent:
A heated indoor pool, kids’ pool, three jacuzzi pools, plus separate saunas for men and women.
Our unit included a private indoor heated whirlpool/jacuzzi at the balcony, which was a real highlight.
Wi-Fi was stable and fast — no lag while watching Netflix, which is already available on the TV.
Lift access via keycard scanning added to the sense of security.
Parking was very reasonable at RM10 per day. We parked for all 3 days and conveniently used Grab when heading out instead of driving.
Excellent Problem Handling:
On the first day, we had trouble operating the private whirlpool and the water remained icy cold despite waiting for hours, which was disappointing as we missed using it that night. However, the way the Sleeping Lion team handled it completely turned things around.
The next day, while we were out, I contacted their support line to help set it up properly. True to their word, they updated me that the whirlpool was fully heated before we even returned to the apartment. That level of follow-through really impressed us.
On another occasion, we were waiting at the wrong Grab pickup point. The reception staff noticed us, proactively informed us of the correct location, and personally escorted us there — a small gesture, but one that shows genuine care for guests.
Location & Convenience:
The location is fantastic. There’s a shopping mall right downstairs with a 24-hour convenience store at ground level, making everything extremely convenient. The view from the apartment was also beautiful, adding to the overall holiday feel.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the vibe of our stay can be summed up in one phrase: Amazing — best holiday ever.
This place is highly recommended for families and staycations, and we would definitely return and recommend Antara Residences – Sleeping Lion without hesitation.
Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so comfortable, memorable, and enjoyable.
GGuest UserThis is our 3rd time booking for this hotel. Unfortunately, we are not so pleased this time. Lift at Tower was not working well during check out time which was very stressful as many people need to use during that time. Only one lift is working out of the 4 lifts. We ended up using the cargo lift.. Housekeeping did not clean our room on day 2.
RRas YenJust for a night stay up on the hill, it's highly recommended. Just that the key collection can be challenging no matter how many times we've stayed here (different block, different management)
ZZamri BaharudinThe best hotel in Cherating. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was decent. The beach was clean, and the hotel's surroundings were also pleasant.
