This is a perfect spot in Nagano if you want to take a break before heading to other parts such as Hakuba for skiing . It is literally right at the station and connected via MIDORI where you can buy groceries and with lots of restaurants. Due to fight delay, we arrived late at night at around 10pm. MIDORI shops were all closed but ht path to hotel still open and we can still find plenty of cafes nearby. It has reserved Alpico bus to Hakuba right at hotel or you may go to the regular bus stop at bus station 26 for higher frequency of bus service. Will definitely stay here again if we need to stop over at Nagano. Though the hotel is not new, it’s spacious and clean enough for a comfortable stay .

The hotel is nice, from the station about 10 minutes walk almost in a straight line, wake up. The room was originally wrong, it was reserved for smokers, even though we don't smoke, the room was given the appropriate one, the smell in it was just not very good, like for those who don't smoke at all, it started already on the floor. But the staff, fortunately, were able to find us a replacement for a non-smoking room, yes, less, yes one big bed instead of two, but with stunning mountain views and a coffee machine. The breakfast at the hotel is just as great, the cuisine is Japanese, diverse, there are many drinks, including fresh juices, many desserts. non-smoking measures, yes, less, but one large bed instead of two, but with stunning mountain views and a coffee machine

This hotel was the most satisfying one of my trip. It's about a 10-minute taxi ride from Karuizawa Station, costing around 1300 JPY. The hotel has an English style, and the rooms are spacious. The service was excellent; they delivered our luggage to our room. They also provided a 1000 JPY voucher per person, which could be used for dinner. Right behind the hotel is the quaint Ofuna Shrine, with beautiful scenery, especially with autumn in full swing.

It is a pleasure to stay at this hotel because of its cleanliness and the services it provides. Despite the fact that the property is old and needs some renovation, I am still happy to leave a very good review. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to Matsumoto station. Additionally, it offers complimentary onsen access at another hotel, with shuttle bus service included. Hotel guests should make full use of these. Reminder: To ensure your seat at the onsen, please make the reservation by 9am every day. I will stay at this hotel again when I visit Matsumoto next time.

The hotel is brand new. The room is lovely and so spacious! The bed was huge and it was comfortable, we all slept well every night. Staff were courteous and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel location is also perfect, right on old karuizawa ginza street with many food and shopping options nearby during the day. The breakfast options were very limited and the food was the same every day, so I found it a challenge to feed my toddler. Basic food items like cereal and slice bread were not available. The fruit options were also limited and not the most child friendly e.g. pineapple, grapefruit and grapes. Also, the rooms are not made every day but you can request for the staff to clean and make the room. Overall we still had a great stay and hope to visit again soon.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. We visited in early November 2025 during the autumn season, and the beautiful foliage added such a romantic touch to the surroundings. I loved the modern interior, the comfortable bed, and the overall room layout. The hotel looks incredibly romantic at night too, especially with the reflections on the pond. The outdoor onsen was a highlight. It felt serene at night, and the maple trees lit up in the evening made it absolutely scenic. The onsen is located in a separate building, so you do have to walk through the cold, but it wasn’t an issue as the hotel provides thicker robes. If I had to nitpick, the indoor slippers weren’t the most comfortable. We drove during our stay, so getting to nearby attractions was easy. There’s a large supermarket and a pharmacy about 5–10 minutes away, which was very convenient — we didn’t even need to visit any convenience stores. This hotel impressed me so much that it made me look up where else Hotel Indigo has branches in Japan!

The room was clean and the housekeeping staff would send water to the room during the evening meal. Two days of kaiseki dinner is not awkward, very looking forward to the freshness. The staff in the hall are very kind, and the students are very good at English and proactive. I appreciate the staff service in the hall very much and deserve praise! The hotel lobby is designed in a traditional style with flowers and flowers everywhere, which is like a work of art. The room design is quite old, but the maintenance is not bad.

Here’s a polished and natural-sounding review you can use: Review: Twin Line Hotel Karuizawa is a very cozy and comfortable place to stay. The architecture is beautiful, modern, and thoughtfully designed, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is extremely clean, and everything feels well maintained. The breakfast was very good, with a nice variety and great quality. I especially loved that the hotel offers free coffee, tea, and many other drinks and snacks ..such a thoughtful touch that makes the stay even more enjoyable. The hotel crew were very friendly, polite, and helpful, making us feel truly welcome. Overall, a lovely hotel with great service, comfort, and attention to detail. Highly recommended.

The room was incredibly spacious, offering exceptional value for the price. The hotel maintains a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which I truly appreciated. While the furniture and carpets show some slight signs of age, the overall comfort remains high. I was impressed by their Zero Waste policy; instead of plastic bottles in the room, they provide glassware and a convenient water dispenser located right by the elevator. Please note that for a two-night stay, there is no housekeeping service, which aligns with their eco-friendly initiative. The amenities were comprehensive, and the service was outstanding—truly upholding the high standards of the Mercure brand. Parking is plentiful and hassle-free. Lastly, the view is a hidden gem; on a clear day, you get an unobstructed, breathtaking panorama of the mountain range without any buildings blocking the sight. I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway!

I booked two rooms for two nights, but due to a system glitch, one of the rooms wasn't successfully booked. Trip.com customer service then recommended another hotel. However, the next day when we arrived at the new hotel, we still couldn't check in. All payments for both rooms had been made by 10:30 AM, so they should have been reserved for us. Yet, the hotel again cited a system error and said our rooms hadn't been held. They then told us to return to the first hotel, and it was already around 11 PM at that point. I was utterly frustrated by the whole situation. Despite all this, Trip.com's customer service was very responsive and helpful, thumbs up to them.

QQuingg📍 Hotel Keigetsu 信州昼神温泉郷 日長庵 桂月 @ Hirugami Onsen, Nagano 🇯🇵 We stayed 3D2N from 13 November 2025 at Hotel Keigetsu (日長庵 桂月), and it turned out to be one of the best choices for our Nakasendo trip. The ryokan sits in a peaceful corner of Hirugami Onsen, surrounded by nature and traditional Japanese charm. There is a designated parking area exclusively for guests, accommodating around 15-20 cars of all sizes, making it very convenient for self-drive travellers. We chose a Japanese-style room with a private bathroom, and the highlight was the beautiful wooden bathtub — perfect for a relaxing soak in complete privacy. In the mornings, the view from our room was calm and peaceful, with gentle bird chirping adding to the serene atmosphere. Our stay included breakfast and dinner, and both meals were exceptional. Each dish was beautifully prepared using seasonal ingredients, and the servers were patient and friendly, taking time to explain each course and share stories about local flavours. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced the dining experience. The ryokan is within walking distance to the Morning Market, just about 10 minutes away, making it an enjoyable little morning stroll. There is also a FamilyMart right beside the ryokan, just a short walk away — extremely convenient for drinks, snacks, or last-minute essentials during your stay. The staff also introduced several nearby activities and hiking trails, and the routes are super visitor-friendly, making this ryokan an ideal base for exploring the Nakasendo area. The onsen baths were another highlight — soothing, clean, and filled with Hirugami’s famously smooth, skin-friendly hot spring water. Perfect for unwinding every evening. Overall, Hotel Keigetsu offers excellent food, warm service, relaxing onsen, comfortable rooms, and unbeatable convenience, whether you’re here for onsen relaxation or the Nakasendo trail. Highly recommended for a peaceful, authentic, and memorable ryokan stay in Nagano. ♨️🍁🌿✨

GGuest UserI stayed at this hotel with my wife and two children during a two-night trip to Karuizawa in early February. The hotel is around 100 years old and its claim to fame is that John Lennon has stayed there. The piano that he played on is still in the bar. Location: The hotel is near Old Ginza Street and around a 15-minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It was not difficult to find, but you must navigate a narrow approach to the hotel which is icy at this time of the year, so you must drive carefully. Cleaniness: The staff told me that the hotel was only recently and everything was very clean and in good condition. Service: The receptionist that conducted the check-in was probably the Japanese that spoke the best English that I had encountered on this trip. He spent a lot of time explaining the hotel to our family. The porter was also very helpful and polite. When we asked for extra toothbrushes and slippers for the children, housekeeping was very prompt in delivering them and even brought some children's robes for my sons. Facilities: The hotel did not have many facilities. There is a small shop, a bar and a french restaurant but not much else. Some rooms had private hot springs in them and they gave us the opportunity to upgrade. Our room, had a small balcony even though we were on the ground floor. It looked onto a wooded area so there was not much to see, especially at night. However, when it snowed the next morning, my kids loved going out and playing in the snow. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. It was a simple American breakfast very well presented. It was very pleasurable to look out into the inner courtyard with it was snowing. Overall: I like this hotel as it has a lot of character. It is architecturally attractive and has kept a lot of its charm despite renovation. The staff are very professional and polite. I would stay in this hotel again.

GGuest UserWe brought our kids skiing this time and got hit with a blizzard. Luckily, the West Wing was budget-friendly, and there's a chairlift right next to it that connects to the gondola at the South Wing. The East Wing gondola only opened after the heavy snow on the weekend, but it was fine. The enclosed chairlift was warmer, and so were the slopes. We skied for five days, but only two days did Goose Mountain open A4, probably due to insufficient snow. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful! Big thanks to them! We'll definitely choose this place again next time.

GGuest UserThe room was immaculately clean, and the welcoming staff was very friendly. We had a French set menu for dinner, which was delicious! The breakfast buffet offered both Japanese and Western dishes, and the food was delicious and varied! Another fun thing was the short tram ride to the hot spring baths. The water is natural, and it was a delightful experience to soak in the baths while gazing at the distant mountain views! It's a perfect place to relax and unwind on vacation!

AAmanda-Ng-Lovely hotel in the middle of Hakuba. Location is a little secluded and without a car, it takes some effort to get to the city or around. We were happy to stay and chill at the hotel though. Opted for half board (Dinner provided) Super convenient with the ski rental on site, and shuttle buses to ski resorts provided. Onsen: newly refurbished and amazing! Breakfast and Dinner : was pleasantly surprised by the dinner provided it was a 6 course dinner Jap-French inspired. Had lovely meals every evening. In house ski rental : it’s good that there is one onsite. However the service was less than desirable. Rented a snowboard and requested for regular stance, the young guy provided a goofy stance set up. I only noticed the next day, after bringing it back - and the same young guy was not at the shop. Approached the concierge where the staff then very impatient and frustratingly fixed it for me.. Transport to the ski resort: asked the staff to help book us a taxi to get to Nagano station when we were leaving the next day. Their taxi company was full so they said they couldn’t do anything. We then asked for alternatives, the concierge suggested a shuttle bus to Nagano station, but shortly after said it was not possible as the hotel shuttle didn’t start that early. The staff just seemed abit unwilling to help, and also unclear about how guests leave the hotel. To future travellers; Prepare beforehand - book a taxi / bus in advance and don’t expect the hotel to help

GGanmeirenRecommend one night and two meals. You can choose Japanese and Western breakfast. I choose one a day. French dinner🤩, hahahaha, the service can feed me. Hygiene: clean and comfortable, the room is large. Service: Whether it is the front desk, the station or the ski resort shuttle bus🚌, it is available at any time✅ Environment: ٩(๑^o^๑)۶ It is so beautiful. It is very close to the station. It would be perfect if there is a hot spring. Walk to take the bus and go to the Stone Church and Yuntang Pool. Facilities: You can rent ski equipment at the hotel. It is also okay to return it later. You can put it in the drying room by yourself.

Kkfmy1225Even though we arrived after 11pm, the hot spring was still open. The hot spring was very comfortable and satisfying. However, even though I had contacted them in advance to say I would be arriving late, they contacted me in the evening of my stay to say that dinner was ready. I wish they had confirmed whether dinner would be available in the evening when I contacted them in advance. Also, the futon was too thin, so my body ached and I couldn't get rid of my fatigue.
