The hotel is on the famous Little Middle East Steindham Street. There are indeed many idle Middle Eastern men standing on the street. From morning to night, but it is not threatening to walk through without squinting. If you come back at night, there is no problem. The room is average and the breakfast is average.

The location is extremely convenient directly across the street from the Hauptbahnhof and with a subway station entrance and bus stop right outside. I felt very safe walking around even at night and the few homeless or other kinds of people hanging around were not that many and were not bothering others. There are many shops and restaurants and a supermarket at the train station but also right around the corner from the hotel is a busy street so easily walking distance to almost anything you need and a fifteen minute bus ride to the city center or the port and Reeperbahn area. It was extremely hot during my stay so no air conditioning was tough but most of the more normal weather times it would be fine. There is some city noise but it did not bother me even at night for sleeping with the windows open. A light sleeper might need earplugs though. There is only one small elevator for two people available for the hotel - the second one is still broken as other reviews mentioned so I wouldn’t expect it to be fixed. Taking the stairs down from the fifth floor was fine but not with heavy bags or going up maybe. Most of the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was standard for Germany but not a lot of extras or variety. It was good but not exciting. The best feature of the hotel was the spacious room and comfortable beds. I think it’s a good value for the space and location and would stay again.

Booked for just one night. I paid far too much, even though breakfast was included. The room was small, which was fine for me. However, when I got to the hotel room, there were spiders everywhere. The sheets weren't clean, and the heater was broken.

The sheets were supposed to be clean, and the spiders were supposed to be completely gone. The hotel was lucky that I'm not afraid of spiders.

I chose this hotel as I have stayed on other visits to Cologne. Very disappointed to find my room had no suitable curtains to cover the window. No electricity in half of the room so I used an extension cable I borrowed from reception. The bathroom was partially renovated but had bare cables coming from the wall. 

I approached reception concerning the problems and was promised my room would be changed the following morning. I approached reception in the morning to be told they would not change my room. This was due to other complaints and guests having to move to a sister hotel. 

Clearly, this hotel is undergoing refurbishment. However, unfinished rooms should not be let.

I have asked for a refund and fully expect a suitable response from the manager.  This hotel used to be very good. What has gone wrong???

the room is clean, the owner is gentle and responsive. The only problem is there is no sound proof at all - considering this is a general flat problem, we can still bear with many random noises coming from outside or inside the building. But there are two permanent residents who share the flat with us cooking and talking to each other from 23pm to 1am, just outside our room. we felt weird to tell them to keep quiet as we are the 'temporary guest'. there must be some rules to be set up if the owner wants to mix long-term and short-term stays.

The room is clean, tidy, quiet and comfortable. There are buses to the main railway station nearby. The breakfast is also good. It is very suitable for travel and business. I will stay here next time I come to Monchengladbach. Good review

We stayed in room 232. It was a triple room. It was a bit old. There were dirty diapers in the trash can, and other trash as well. The bed, sheets, and towels were clean. Apart from that, the floors and other areas were very dirty. The door wasn't locked. It wasn't clear who had come and gone before us. Since we checked in late at night, we wanted to go to sleep immediately and didn't request a room change. The breakfast was very good, so we didn't complain to the hotel about that either.
