We specifically chose this Canal Retreat Hotel for our child's lessons at the Lang Lang Art Center. The location is absolutely perfect—just a short walk from the classroom, making drop-off and pick-up incredibly convenient. Nestled in the Dadou Road historic district, the hotel boasts a tranquil and elegant Chinese courtyard, a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling city, ideal for children to relax after lessons. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the service is attentive and thoughtful. Falling asleep to the sound of the canal adds a poetic and peaceful touch to the piano learning journey. A top choice for families with children learning piano—highly recommended!

I booked a popular garden king room that came with a bathtub, though unfortunately, I didn't get to use it this trip. Overall, it was a good stay. The room's layout and facilities were perfectly fine. However, there were obvious areas where cleaning was missed, such as dust on the light switch panels and the top edge of the mirror. A major highlight was how incredibly comfortable the bed was. As for the location, it's quite a distance from the subway station, but free parking is available, making it inconvenient if you're not driving.

I recently stayed at China Courtyard · Mengxiyuan Hidden Hotel during the cherry blossom season, and my overall experience was a mix of good and bad. There were many pleasant surprises, but also areas that could use improvement, so I'll provide an objective review.

**Service and Facilities: High-end Standard, Thoughtful and Attentive**
The hotel's service was truly first-class, with butler-style care that was meticulous and thorough. Upon arrival, staff proactively helped with our luggage, carrying it all the way to the front desk and then to our room, without us having to lift a finger. The lobby's audio system was exceptional, with sound quality and staging that I'd rate as top-tier among all the high-end hotels I've stayed in.
The guest rooms were spacious and grand, with high-quality decor and furnishings. The blend of Song-dynasty garden style with modern smart amenities created a highly comfortable living environment.
Although the breakfast selection was simple, the quality far exceeded expectations. The freshly ground coffee was rich and aromatic, and the freshly made noodles were delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was prepared with care. On the day we checked out, we had trouble getting a taxi, and a staff member kindly used their personal phone to call one for us. We only needed to reimburse the fare later. This level of thoughtful service truly went above and beyond, solving our immediate travel needs.

**Dining Shortcoming: Extremely Low Value for Dinner, Disappointing Experience**
The hotel's dinner experience was quite poor. Whether it's self-operated or outsourced, the value for money was severely lacking. Priced at 200 yuan per person, or 400 yuan for a couple's set meal, the quality of the dishes simply didn't match. The cooking was crude, the flavors bland like plain boiled water, and neither the presentation nor the taste met high-end hotel standards. This was completely inconsistent with the 3000 yuan per night room rate and was truly the biggest disappointment of our stay.

**Scenery and Photography: Stunning Cherry Blossoms, but Commercial Shoots Seriously Affect the Experience**
The hotel's garden scenery during cherry blossom season was absolutely breathtaking. The ancient architecture combined with the pink blossoms was a major highlight of our stay. However, as a high-paying guest, the photography experience was unsatisfactory. Popular photo spots in the garden were almost constantly occupied by commercial photography teams. A single shoot often took up more than ten minutes, forcing regular guests to wait for extended periods, and then only getting a second or two before having to move aside.
Paying 3000 yuan per night, our main purpose was to enjoy the cherry blossoms and take photos, but we were constantly obstructed by these commercial shoots. This inevitably caused displeasure. While commercial shoots are understandable, the hotel should better manage their time and designated areas to balance the experience for both commercial photographers and regular guests/tourists, preventing a small group from monopolizing public scenic resources for extended periods.

**Conclusion**
The hotel's facilities, service, and scenery are all of a high-end standard, making it an excellent choice for enjoying cherry blossoms and a secluded getaway in Hangzhou. If the hotel can improve the quality of its dinner offerings and better regulate commercial photography, the experience would be even more perfect. I look forward to revisiting after these improvements to enjoy an even more refined Song-dynasty hidden experience.

The location was good if you are planning an early boat trip, as it is only a 2 minute walk away from the pier. But if you want to sleep in, you hear the boat horns as each one departs in the morning. Is is not walkable distance to the center, but a quick didi ride away only. My initial room that I booked (single room), despite being promoted as a non smoking room, smelled horrific when I entered. They immediately changed my room when I told them about it. The shower had mould stains, but I am assuming they might have been older stains as even my highly allergic nose did not have any trouble. I did not try the breakfast as I was looking for something with protein, but breakfast was included. I believe I saw boiled corn, steamed sweet potatoes and a type of bao bun. Not fully sure. When I had trouble renting ebikes without local ID, the staff were very helpful and spent 30 minutes handling it all for us. Was given slippers on arrival, but no toothbrush or toothpaste. The room had showergel and shampoo, but no handsoap. There was a bottle of slimey something in the bathroom, maybe that was handsoap, did not want to risk it. But overall, was a nice stay.

This hotel has a unique charm, featuring a distinctive European old mansion style. It's truly one-of-a-kind, and its location is superb, with the entire street lined with charming cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself offers a lovely afternoon tea that's quite delicious. The breakfast provided is also fantastic! 😎 The room facilities are complete and comfortable, with a light luxury and cozy feel.

Facilities: This is a large, uniquely designed farm-themed hotel with several sections. It offers a wide range of amenities including a gym, swimming pool, a traditional tea-making area (around a brazier), and cycling routes. There's even a rice-themed cultural museum to explore.
Hygiene: The cleanliness is on par with a five-star hotel, if not better. The entire environment is beautiful and pristine, and the rooms are no exception. The bedding and toiletries are excellent.
Environment: The environment is absolutely superb! There's even a swan lake with three black swans. Walking around the hotel feels like being in a picturesque countryside forest – the ecosystem is fantastic, the air is fresh, and it truly lifts your spirits.
Service: The butler service is beyond five-star. From the moment we checked in, the staff were incredibly warm and attentive. Wherever you need to go within the hotel grounds, there's a sightseeing cart to take you. The overall experience was truly wonderful.

The location is excellent, the transportation is convenient, and it is convenient to travel. There are many parking spaces in the parking lot at the door. There is light music at the front desk, which is very nice. The room type is very good, the layout is reasonable, the bathroom is super large, clean and hygienic, and the mattress is very comfortable. Highly recommended.
