"Disappointing experience for a hotel of this standard I had quite high expectations for Wanda Vista Hohhot, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing, especially considering the hotel is positioned as a five-star property. The first impression at check-in was already not great. There was very little sense of welcome from the front desk. While the staff member was trying to locate our booking number, she said “麻烦死了” within earshot of us. I was quite taken aback and actually asked if she was referring to us, to which she laughed and said no. She may have been frustrated with the computer or booking system, but regardless of who or what the comment was directed at, I do not think this is appropriate to say in front of guests during check-in. The overall attitude simply did not feel like the level of hospitality I would expect from a hotel in this category. What shocked me the most, however, was at the restaurant. The water jug being used at the coffee machine had very obvious orange-brown corrosion or buildup around the inner seam and spout, in an area that comes into contact with the water. I have attached photos because I think they speak for themselves. I cannot say exactly what the substance was, but seeing equipment used for drinking water in this condition was extremely concerning and immediately made me question the maintenance and hygiene standards of the beverage equipment. The property itself may carry a five-star name and facilities, but service and maintenance are equally important parts of a five-star experience. Between the uncomfortable check-in experience and finding the coffee machine water jug in that condition, this stay fell well below what I expected. I hope management takes the feedback seriously, particularly the condition of the beverage equipment and front desk service standards."

"Guests staying recently shouldn't have high expectations for the environment. I knew renovations were going on, so I was okay with it. Being on a higher floor, I felt undisturbed at night. The breakfast selection was very limited, but it was enough to fill up. The washing detergent in the room was a nice, thoughtful touch, even though I didn't use it. The facilities and decor are quite old, but the value for money is decent."

"Our stay at this hotel was just okay—not excellent, but acceptable for a budget hotel. If you’re looking for an affordable place to stay in Hohhot and don’t have very high expectations, this hotel can be an option. One of the staff members was not very friendly toward foreign guests. We simply requested a chopstick to stir our coffee in the room, but unfortunately, our request was declined. It was a small thing, but the experience could have been handled more warmly. Pros: * Very close to the metro/subway station * Convenient location near Hohhot Railway Station * Plenty of affordable restaurants nearby * Budget-friendly Cons: * The carpet on the floor was visibly dirty * The hotel is quite old and could use some updating * Service could be more welcoming, especially toward foreign guests Overall, our stay was just good enough for a short budget stay, mainly because of the convenient location and affordable price. However, if you are particular or sensitive about cleanliness, I would recommend looking for another hotel."

"Traffic in Hohhot was quite smooth. The hotel has a free parking lot, and we easily found a spot on the ground floor, no need to go to the basement. The room faced the overpass. Overall, the hygiene was good, with a separate wet and dry area, and suitable water temperature and pressure. Breakfast offered local specialties. The shaomai was a bit ordinary, but the milk tea was good, and they had lamb offal soup. My favorite was definitely the iced coffee! There was coffee available all day, but unfortunately, the laundry room was temporarily out of service for maintenance, so I couldn't use it."

"Great hotel location with a private parking lot. The facilities are new, and the rooms are spacious and bright. The breakfast is extensive, and they even offered complimentary afternoon tea and a late-night snack. The staff are warm and welcoming. It's about a 15-minute drive from the Inner Mongolia Museum."

Easy access to famous attractions. The staff is great and helpful. The rooms were dated, but very clean and thats what matters most I guess."

"I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely choose it again if I return to the area. The service was excellent from the moment I arrived. It was the last stop of my trip, and after spending the previous night in a hotel deep in the grasslands where I barely slept because of the noise and late-night celebrations, having a spacious and quiet room was exactly what I needed. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth, and the hotel was also very accommodating with a late check-out request. The location is another major advantage. The hotel is conveniently located not far from the airport, making it an excellent choice for both arriving and departing travelers. It's also only about a 20-minute Didi ride from the city center, so it's easy to explore local restaurants and attractions. The hotel sits next to a horse racing track and is close to the grasslands, making it a great base for discovering the area. Depending on the season, you may be able to watch horse races, while the nearby grasslands offer plenty of activities such as horseback riding, seeing local farm animals, and exploring the beautiful scenery. Nearby the hotel you can easily find bicycle rentals area, including both regular and electric multi-seat bikes, which are a fantastic way to experience the grasslands. One thing I realized after my trip is that I would actually recommend staying in a comfortable hotel like this rather than spending the night in accommodations deep in the grasslands. You can easily take a day trip to enjoy all the natural attractions while returning in the evening to a much higher standard of comfort and service. The hotel itself is very large and feels more like a conference center, with five floors and plenty of rooms. There is also a small convenience store on the ground floor for snacks and essentials, as well as an in-house restaurant, making everything very convenient. The rooms are spacious, clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The carpeted floors provide excellent sound insulation, and everything was well maintained. Compared to other hotels I stayed at in the higher-altitude grasslands, this hotel offers a noticeably higher standard of accommodation and a much more relaxing experience. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay. The excellent service, convenient location, comfortable rooms, and easy access to both the airport and the grasslands make this hotel an outstanding choice. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit."

"I stayed here for 3 consecutive days, and the location is absolutely fantastic! Zhongshan West Road is very lively, a real commercial hub. Right downstairs is Qingcheng Park, the 'city's green lung,' and the lotus flowers there are stunning! It's so convenient for a stroll. A taxi to Dazhao Temple takes only 7 minutes, and you can walk to Kuan Alley in just 3 minutes. The breakfast spread was quite generous and tasty! The high-altitude restaurant's food was excellent. Since my parents and kids don't eat lamb, we basically had all our meals at the Jiangnan High-Altitude Restaurant on the 30th floor. Xiao Dong and Fanfan (or perhaps Fancan? I can't quite remember her name) at the front desk saw I had a child with me and helped me with a late check-out, even gifting us some fridge magnets. They were so kind and beautiful, making us feel right at home. Hohhot is a great summer escape, nice and cool! This Mercure hotel is a wonderful place to stay!"
