Cheap Hotels in Hiji

"One of the nice features of this hotel is that you can enjoy the onsen while looking out over the ocean. However, it is not very convenient without a car. I walked all the way from Beppu Station before discovering that the hotel offers a free shuttle bus. I’ve attached the shuttle bus schedule—I’d strongly recommend using it. The room was the biggest disappointment. Although it was advertised as a renovated, high-floor ocean-view room, it still felt very old. The bathroom was especially outdated, and there was a very high step between the bathroom and the room, making it easy to trip. The room really feels like it needs a proper renovation. Overall, the ocean-view onsen was enjoyable, but the rooms did not match my expectations."

"We stayed in a room with one double bed for three people, including our elementary school-aged child. While the child's sleeping habits were a factor, one adult had to sleep on the floor, making it quite cramped. Although it faces a major road, the windows are double-paned, so road noise wasn't a problem. There was ample private parking on the premises, which made moving luggage easy, especially during the summer. Breakfast was excellent for 500 yen, both in terms of variety and quality! The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming, which our child appreciated. The inn's amenities, including cleansing oil (makeup remover), were a thoughtful and helpful touch. While there were many families during the summer holidays, the hotel is small and has a bright atmosphere, making it a cost-effective option for small families or couples who only need a place to sleep and leave quickly."

"Great view if your room is facing the sea.. You get the traffic noise for rooms facing the mountain as it’s also next to the main road. Seems like stains on the floor in guest rooms is a common in this hotel. Onsen is nice when it’s not busy.  Love the soft serve from the dinner buffet!"

"Do note that it is outskirts of hiji, driving at night is quite quiet. The hotel doesn’t have private bath in the room so do take note as showering will be shared under traditional public bath house. Family bath house is available for booking only, which the staff let us use it during the two nights there. Thank you for the great service!"
