Britannia Hotel City Centre Manchester
7.8 (754 reviews)

Britannia Hotel City Centre Manchester ★★★

📍 Watts Warehouse, 35 Portland St, Manchester

"I was very disappointed with this stay. The room and overall condition of the hotel were significantly worse than the photos shown online. There were buckets and wet floor signs in the hallways due to leaks, and there was visible mould and water damage in the ceiling, which was concerning and suggests ongoing maintenance issues. The lift does not reach all floors, which meant repeatedly walking up several flights of stairs. This was made more frustrating when my key card repeatedly stopped working, requiring multiple trips back to reception to resolve. The room itself was very basic and not comparable to the listing photos, and the bathroom was not properly cleaned as I found hair in the bedding and bath/shower on arrival. Basic amenities were also lacking — no toiletries were provided or available, and staff advised me to purchase my own. The parking information was also misleading. The listing suggested parking for around £16 per day, however no instructions were provided and the hotel was unreachable when I attempted to contact them before travelling. Even Trip.com support staff were unable to reach the property, and as a result I had to arrange nearby parking myself which cost over £20 per day. Overall the stay was noisy, poorly maintained, and far below expectations for the price paid. I would not stay here again."

Britannia Sachas Hotel Manchester ★★★

📍 12 Tib St, Back Piccadilly, Manchester

"The room was that hot with no air-conditioning the fan in there just blew hot air around. Had no sleep and left very early. When I let reception know, I got sorry bye £70 for nothing. And even though I've directly emailed them. No response. Yet last time I stayed there was fine. Not going again if that's how they treat people."

📍 25 Aytoun St, Manchester

"The room's location is great, very close to the train station. It has air conditioning, but Manchester isn't particularly hot anyway. The shopping center is also nearby. Breakfast is Western-style with a decent variety. There's also a Chinatown nearby with Chinese restaurants."

"Friendly helpful staff (Faith), had a situation with the wifi voucher but that was quickly resolved (my error). Hotel closes around 11pm but you can use your key card to gain entry. Rooms are basic but have all you need for a night stay. Tea/coffee facilties in the room, hair and body wash in the bathroom and plenty of towels. Breakfast had everything you could ask for and staff were friendly when asking for top ups (Joy) wouldn't hesitate to rebook there again"

"Despite checking in quite late, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, especially Alejandro, who was incredibly attentive and approachable throughout our stay. As it was our first time staying here, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it certainly didn’t disappoint. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel is in a great location near the city centre, making it very convenient. While parking isn’t free, we were given a discounted rate for the car park across the road after validating our parking at reception, which was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation close to the centre."

"Attending an annual conference in the UK, I found the hotel incredibly convenient, being just a two-minute walk to the convention center. I'd say this is the best hotel in Manchester; both the facilities and service were excellent. The breakfast was delicious, and the bar also offered a great atmosphere. It's my top choice for business travel. The only minor downside was that the curtains didn't close tightly enough."

"We visited over the weekend for our first trip to Manchester. Having driven 4+ hours, we were very grateful to be able to check in late at night nearly 10pm. We were greeted by a very professional, friendly and polite receptionist who quickly gave us our room key and information about the breakfast service and hotel. The room was fantastic, and felt like very great value for money. It was spacious, impeccably clean and had all the amenities needed to get ready for a night out in Manchester! The view of was gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. In the morning, we were able to make use of the amazing sports facilities at no extra charge. The team at the sports centre were very helpful and friendly, they provided tokens for the lockers, directions around the brilliant facilities and towels so that we didn’t need to use our own. To top it off, we paid for the £10pp breakfast buffet and came towards the end of the service. Yet the options were still all available and delicious. Again, really great value for money and a good way to finish our stay. We will definitely return again and would recommend to anyone who wants a comfortable stay, close to the city centre and great value for money. Thank you to the fantastic team who made our stay so special!"

Britannia Hotel City Centre Manchester ★★★
"This was my 4th stay at this hotel, and unfortunately it was disappointing. The room was dirty and dusty. At check-in, I complained about the dirty washroom, and staff members Sai and Anjo were rude and disrespectful in response. They moved me to a different room, but it was also dusty and the carpet had a slight odor. The water kettle's cord couldn't reach the socket, so I had to keep moving it around the room just to use it. There was also a broken table fan left in the room, which felt like a safety hazard. There was no side table to keep the fan. I contacted Trip.com customer support, who said the hotel manager would follow up with a resolution. He never did. No facilities in this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel if you're looking for a clean, peaceful stay."

"Unfortunately the stay wasn't great. Staff were good but no working air conditioning in the room and lots of noise from the corridor from drunken louts. Banging doors in the early hours. Strong odour of ***** outside the main entrance, in the lift and from the corridor coming into the room."
