"February 2026, Hokkaido – The Life I've Always Dreamed Of in Eastern Hokkaido! It's been six years since my last visit to Hokkaido, and I'm finally back in my favorite place, embarking on a long-awaited journey to Eastern Hokkaido! On the first day, we decided to head straight to Kushiro and check into the Kushiro Prince Hotel for convenience with our后续 itinerary. It was about a 10-minute walk from JR Kushiro Station to the hotel with our luggage. The main issue was the heavy snow and ice on the roads. We weren't wearing ice cleats, so we had to walk very carefully. The Kushiro Prince Hotel clearly has an older, traditional style, and the facilities are quite dated. Check-in was quick, and there wasn't much interaction with the front desk, perhaps due to a language barrier? However, they did try their best to answer any questions we had. We had a standard twin room; it wasn't large, but big enough for two large suitcases. There was no separate wet and dry area in the bathroom, likely due to space constraints. I'm not sure why there was no complimentary bottled water. The hotel's main advantage is its convenient location. The Akan Bus stop is right outside the hotel to the right. Everyone was lining up early. We checked out about 10 minutes beforehand, and since we didn't want to wait outside in the cold, we ended up at the back of the line. Kushiro is the starting point of this Eastern Hokkaido trip. Our packed itinerary is about to begin, and I'm a little excited and a little nervous!"

"I had an enjoyable stay at Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga. The hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere and is a wonderful place to experience the beauty of Lake Akan. The service was excellent throughout my stay. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional, always greeting guests with a smile and making every interaction pleasant. Their hospitality really enhanced the overall experience. The onsen facilities were one of the highlights of the hotel. They are spacious, beautifully designed, and have a luxurious feel, offering a great variety of indoor and outdoor baths. The only minor drawback was that the top-floor outdoor bath did not appear to be as clean as the other baths. Overall, the onsen experience was still great. The room was a little on the compact side, but it was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Overall, I had a great stay and Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga is a great choice in Lake Akan."

"Facilities: The rooftop onsen area has three pools with brand-new facilities. It's very relaxing to soak in them, and after a bath, you can use the massage chairs or read manga. In the mornings, you can enjoy unlimited Yakult, and in the evenings, there are four kinds of ice cream available for free. Cleanliness: The room was spotless. The mini-fridge had three complimentary bottles of mineral water, three apples, and pudding. The room was cleaned very thoroughly. Ambiance: The hotel feels completely new. Coming here after checking out of the Prince Hotel felt like traveling from the millennium to the new century, haha. Service: Every evening at 9:30 PM, the hotel offers free all-you-can-eat ramen. It has the local specialty soy sauce broth, and honestly, it tastes almost identical to the famous Uoichi ramen we paid for. Self-check-in and check-out are very convenient. The hotel breakfast also includes Kushiro Robatayaki and self-made leftover rice, so you don't need to spend money eating out. It's excellent value for money. Location: The location is also fantastic, directly opposite the MOO shopping mall, just a five-minute walk. It's very convenient for taking the 'White Bus' and the airport shuttle."

"We took a tour bus directly to the New Akan Hotel. The hotel is very grand, and although it's a bit old, it's very well-maintained with a European-American style decor. I booked a Japanese-style lake view room in advance, and the size was definitely larger than what was stated in the description, at least 30+ square meters. The indoor and outdoor onsen, all-you-can-eat dining, and service were all excellent. The location is superb, close to both the onsen street and the ice mountain attractions. There are two minor drawbacks: the dinner includes a buffet yakiniku, and the smell can't be dissipated, so the entire public area smells like it... thankfully, the rooms are fine. Also, as many have mentioned, there are a lot of tour groups, all from Taiwan, so the hotel is crowded everywhere you go. You need to plan your meals and onsen visits to avoid peak times. Despite this, the hotel's order is still quite good. The internal shops are not tax-free. If I have the chance to come again, I would still choose this hotel, but I'd try to avoid the times when there are large tour groups, as the environment is quite important when you're on vacation!"

"We booked this hotel for its proximity to the Kushiro train station and bus station (these were just opposite the hotel) which saved us the walking in snowy conditions. The triple room we booked was surprisingly bigger than I would imagine for a typical Japanese hotel. We tried the hotel breakfast and it was good for value and have a spread of food choices. The staff were friendly and despite of language barrier, we managed to be able to request for assistance. I would like to thank Ryoyo for his help in checking for alternative bus to Sapporo due to train suspension and he further helped to contact our Sapporo hotel to inform that we will arrive later due to unforeseen train suspension. As per other reviews about the attitude of the hotel staff, I personally feel that they are really helpful but might appear rude to foreigners as they are not good at expressing themselves. The hotel has a manga corner and amenities shelf which you can grab special hair amenities and other types of pillows. There is also free washing machine which my husband used it daily to wash his clothes, free onsen and coffee. Overall, this hotel has great amenities and facilities. The famous tourist attractions were within walking distance from the hotel (MOO/ EGG/ Nusamai Bridge about 15-20mins walk)."

"The room was nice, facing Lake Akan. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the departure point for the lake cruises, and the evening boat tour also starts from downstairs. The hotel's buffet wasn't as good as the one at the Taisetsu Hotel where I stayed later in Sounkyo. My main complaint is that the shower pressure was really low, making it inconvenient to shower."

"Thank you to the hotel staff who helped during the 8th December earthquake. It was our families first experience of an earthquake and tsunami warning, so we were very worried. We came down from level 16 to the level 3 evacuation zone once the tsunami warning was triggered, and we met your staff there who were setting up the evacuation area. A big thank you to the male staff member who put our minds at ease and used google translate to guide us and let us know it was safe to return to the room 1）地理位置优越，出门左边有便利店；离币舞桥走走也就到了，可惜当天天气不好，没有看到世界有名的落日； 2）楼下的西餐厅味道很不错👍价格也比较公道 3）洗衣机是免费的（在四楼） 4）地下停车场是1000yen(住客)，虽然不免费，但也比较公道。 5）入住当晚遭遇地震（12月8日，7.6级）虽然钏路离得比较远，但是在16楼，晃得也比较厉害。后来海啸警告也来了。我们穿好衣服，从16楼冲到3楼避难层（虽然沿着绿色指示，但是在三楼找不到出口，后来员工打开了宴会厅的门，将我们安顿下来，一家三口才比较安心！十分感谢员工们！后来有一位男士一直利用google translate跟我们沟通，也让我们安心不少。十分感激！第二天check out时，想看看他叫什么名字，写一封感谢信，但是名牌太小了，不了了之。不过，疑惑为什么其他旅客都不下来？那么淡定）"

"This was my first time staying at La Vista, and I initially thought it would just be a Dormy Inn with a private onsen, but I was so pleasantly surprised! The room was quite spacious and had a private bath where you could pre-fill the water, and it would automatically stop when full. There's also a public outdoor bath with even better views, but you can't use shampoo or shower gel there as the water flows directly into the stream. Since it wasn't convenient to go out, I booked the dinner and breakfast package. The kaiseki meal was exquisitely presented and photogenic, and the taste was good, though the ingredients were just average. The most delightful moment was sitting in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the evening, watching a family of deer come to drink water and graze!"

"The Japanese-style resort hotel boasts a lakeside ceiling and spacious rooms with private onsen (hot spring bath) and balconies. The rooftop open-air hot spring with views of Lake Akan is absolutely stunning. The dining is exquisite and delicious, using high-quality ingredients, reflecting the chef's dedication. Each room has its own private dining area with personalized service, making it very comfortable. The daily management is excellent; the environment is quiet, and the staff are attentive to individual needs and make special arrangements. In short, it's an excellent choice for a vacation. I was fortunate enough to stay at Tsuruga, near Lake Onuma, which is also a very beautiful hotel."

"The hotel boasts an excellent location. In the evenings, there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. After dinner, it's a pleasant walk from the hotel to Nusamai Bridge for a stroll, and Fisherman's Wharf is just about a 10-minute walk from there. Guests can then return to the hotel to relax in the hot springs. The rooms are also very comfortable. While the breakfast spread at the hotel wasn't extensive, the quality was good. If I ever visit Kushiro again, I would definitely choose this hotel."
