What You CAN Bring into Disney World?

Many first-time visitors mistakenly believe that Disney, like movie theaters, prohibits outside food. In fact, Disney is very generous:

Food and Drink

  • Bring Your Own Food: You are welcome to bring sandwiches, rice balls, nuts, or snacks into the park.
  • Bring Your Own Beverages: All non-alcoholic beverages are allowed (as long as they are not in glass bottles).

😀 Important: The park is promoting sustainability in 2026. Bringing your own water bottle not only saves money but also allows you to get free ice at the Quick-Service restaurant.

Personal Gear

  • Umbrellas and Raincoats: Florida showers can be sudden, and raincoats are expensive in the park. Bringing your own folding umbrella or disposable raincoat is a wise choice.
  • Small Cooling Fan: Regular handheld fans, neck fans, or cooling towels are all permitted.
  • Power Banks: Using the app (My Disney Experience) in the park is very power-intensive; it is recommended that each person bring a high-capacity power bank.

Maternity & Medical Supplies

  • Size-appropriate strollers: As long as they are within 31" x 52" in size.
  • Medications and Medical Supplies: Including essential medications, sunscreen, bandages, etc.
  • Maternity and Baby Products: All maternity and baby food (including bottled formula/canned food) is permitted to be brought in.

💡 Essential Tips

Essential tips of packing for Disney World

Essential tips of packing for Disney World

  • Ziploc Resealable Bags: This is a veteran guest's secret weapon. Use them to store your phone and valuables to prevent them from getting wet during rafting trips.
  • Resealable Ice Packs: While loose ice is prohibited, you can bring water-filled, securely sealed ice packs, or bottled water frozen solid. This keeps things cold and allows you to drink it.
  • Lightweight Picnic Mat/Large Towel: If you plan to watch fireworks or parades, this will provide a clean and comfortable place to sit while waiting (Note: Folding chairs are not allowed, but mats are acceptable).
  • Comfortable Shoes (Spare): If you wear sandals, pack a pair of comfortable sneakers. Walking distances in Orlando are typically over 20,000 steps.

Disney World Prohibited Items | Security & Bag Check Process

By 2026, Disney will have fully implemented contactless security technology, making the entire process very fast. It consists of two main stages: security screening and park entry.

Step 1: Security Screening

Unlike at the airport, you don't need to take out your phone, keys, and snacks and put them in a basket. Disney currently uses the state-of-the-art Evolv Express smart security system. You just need to walk through the security gate with your bag on your back at a normal pace.

Disney App

Step 2: The Tapstiles

After passing through security, you'll arrive at the ticket gates. There are no paper tickets here. Everything is digitally scanned.

If you purchased Disney tickets on Trip.com, you need to complete a crucial step: linking your tickets to the official Disney app.

  • Download the My Disney Experience App: Register an account. Click the "+" sign in the upper right corner, select "Link Tickets and Passes," and manually enter the official confirmation code provided by Trip.com.
  • After successful linking, you have two ways to enter the park: using your mobile e-wallet; or, if you purchased a MagicBand+, directly swiping your wristband.
  • If you prefer a physical card: You can exchange it for a physical card at the park entrance using the confirmation email from Trip.com, and then swipe the card to enter the park.

Step 3: What if you bring prohibited items?

Store or discard them. A pre-entry bag check is very important!

FAQs about Disney World Prohibited Items

  • Is there a clear bag policy at Disney World?

Disney World has no clear bag policy. Backpacks, totes, and coolers are allowed if they meet size limits. All bags undergo screening; while not required, clear bags may slightly speed up your security check.
  • What is Disney's 2pm rule?

The "2pm rule" refers to when park crowds peak and then thin out as guests leave due to heat or naps. Use this window to find shorter wait times for popular attractions.
  • Can I bring balloons or plastic straws?

It depends on the park. At Animal Kingdom and Disney's Water Parks, balloons, plastic straws, and plastic cup lids are strictly banned for animal safety. If you bought a balloon elsewhere, you must leave it in your car or at a storage locker at the entrance.
  • Can I bring my own alcohol or marijuana?

No. Outside alcohol is prohibited. While marijuana is legal in some states, it remains strictly forbidden on all Disney properties (including the parks, hotels, and Disney Springs), regardless of form (smoking, vaping, or edibles).
  • What about wearable technology and professional gear?

Most smart gear is fine, but full-sized tripods and monopods that don't fit in a standard backpack are banned. Additionally, professional audio equipment (like boom mics) may be flagged as commercial filming gear.
