"The room is a bit small, which was expected, but it features a separate wet and dry area. There were no strange odors either. It has all the basics, making it a great choice for transit guests. There is a microwave downstairs to heat up meals. It's a bit of a walk from the train station, but there are buses available that get you there in about 10 minutes. The front desk service was also very good. However, we felt the room was a bit warm; the AC didn't seem to work, and the window couldn't be opened as it was locked. Also, you can hear some train noise at night as trains pass by outside."

"This place is excellent value for money when staying in Basel. Literally 5 mins from the main train station and you receive a Basel card for free transportation into the city when staying here, although we enjoyed the walk which was about 30 minutes. Although basic, the room, 2 bed apartment, was comfy, maybe just lacking a spa space to relax like a couple of small armchairs in living area, but as said for the money it was great. The balcony was a lovely little spot to sit which we would have used a lot more in warmer weather. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was simple and limited but all you need to start the day and excellent value for what you pay. Would recommend this hotel and will stay again if in Basel."

"Rarely take the time to review hotels these days, as I typically stay in chain hotels, where the staff are indifferent at best, unless you are paying the highest rates; however, I can not speak highly enough of the staff at Steinenschanze, who still seem to genuinely care about guest experience. Check-in was detailed, personal, and included a free drink despite my late arrival time. They obviously had my special requests for an iron on record, as a team member made sure to bring it to my room each work day without me even asking. There are no hidden, stacking charges for things like machine coffees, and the communal facilities themselves such as the are kept in pristine condition, such as the beautiful garden area. The room was cozy, spacious, and the daily cleaning was thorough with my room looking good as new each day, in an era where good enough is often the standard. I was made to feel at home, and accommodated for at every turn. Will definitely look to stay here again."

"It turned out there was no air conditioning, but there was mechanical ventilation. It was 30 degrees and the room was far too hot. We were given a fan. The window can only be opened a tiny bit and provides no fresh air. There is, however, the noise of the busy road."

"Small but clean room. That aside the check-in was strange, got no notices anytime before checkin or arrival from them ever with info, only to be told from the guy at the front desk (who wasn't even wearing shoes) that reception closes at 6:30pm.. luckily we arrived 35 minutes before that time or else we would have been just waiting outside wondering what to do? Also the rooms have NO AC or fans! I don't usually get hot but this room was very hot and stale air, had to open the windows to try to sleep, but the streets are so loud. My night there was miserable honestly, as I couldn't even sleep. Location was good, but I wouldn't recommend"

"Regarding the room, the electric blackout curtain was broken upon check-in. I reported it, and they fixed it fairly quickly while I was out for breakfast. There was a bug when booking on Trip.com; the price was high, and there was no breakfast. I tried to coordinate with the hotel, but as an international provider, Trip.com seemed a bit weak. However, they unilaterally offered compensation, so they did their best. The breakfast was decent. The location is excellent, with a tram station right downstairs, which is very convenient. There's also a supermarket about 50 meters to the right."

"It can be said that this is the most satisfying hotel during my trip to Switzerland. It is better than expected, clean and comfortable. It is also larger than other Swiss city hotels. The service attitude is good and the breakfast is also good. I will definitely come again if I have the chance to visit Basel next time."

"The Grand Hotel les Trois Roi is not just a place of lodging, it is an immersive experience. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted and treated with utmost respect, dignity, and professionalism (despite our haggard appearance from travel). The reception team was kind and very helpful, and concierge was wonderful. They assisted us in securing reservations for the (excellent) restaurant next door, and helped us map out a fantastic walking tour of the area, highlighting sites that fit our interests. The hotel itself is stunning; it is a living piece of history. Our room, with a balcony overlooking the Rhine was outstanding in every way. We so greatly appreciated the plates of treats that welcomed us, and enjoyed the complimentary fully stocked minibar. The heated towel rack and heated bathroom floor were decadent additions to an already amazing space. The bed was comfortable and the room very quiet. Breakfast was a delight - so many delicious and visually appealing choices! Definitely try the sweets table - chocolate coated banana bread is scrumptious, and the cookies - yes, cookies for breakfast - were such a treat. Our only regret was that our stay was just one night. Without question, we need to return to Basel and enjoy the Grand Hotel les Trois Rois for a much longer time. Thanks to the entire staff for an outstanding experience!"
