Built in 1927 for a wealthy Cape Charles merchant, extensive renovations have been made to restore its grand character and create one of the most comfortable, as well as relaxing family rentals on the Virginia eastern shore. Enjoy a walk on the extensive sandy beach, lounge in the sun, kayak and paddle board, or build a sandcastle! Every evening you can view the fantastic sunset from the relaxing front porch! You may decide to "eat in" under the lights on the back patio or stroll to one of our fine restaurants. Fine shops, galleries, dining and entertainment are all within walking distance. The Town of Cape Charles Fishing Pier is an amenity for your family to enjoy a day of fishing or crabbing. The Town purchases an annual fishing license, so you do not need your own. You will need to register for the Virginia Fisherman Identification Program, which is a no-charge program. Registration is quick and easy. Each bedroom on the second floor has an on suite full bathroom and ROKU live streaming television. The third floor features two bedrooms, one full bath and a media room. The sixth bedroom is located on the first floor off the kitchen and has a single daybed. A single portable bed is available as well located in the closet of the Sunrise bedroom. The dining room seats 8 comfortably, but can seat 12 using the corners. The black buffet holds white china and gold ware that may be used. Please do not open or use the china cabinet china. The beautiful sun porch is equipped with a stately pool table for your enjoyment. Four kayaks are available for use during your stay, along with the required life vest and whistle. Sun bathe during the day and cool off under the breeze of the front porch in the evening, or sit fireside in front of the backyard fireplace! If you feel adventurous you can rent jet skis from Poseidon Watersports, take a kayak expedition with Southeast Expeditions or go horseback riding on the beach with Esperanza Riding Company! It was purchased on a credit card! That owner did a full rehab and built the kitchen cabinets and counters herself. We think Peach St. is about the best place to stay in Cape Charles as you are a half block to Central Park one way, downtown the other way (right next to AJ's and Deadrise Pies!) and a quick four blocks to the beach. Our family of five LOVES to come down whenever we can by ourselves or with friends and are sad to head home every time we leave!You will love spending time on one of the three porches in the home - we think the Peach House might be one of the last in Cape Charles to have both a downstairs and an upstairs screened porch. Prep a meal inside while the kids watch a show on the porch TV!A paddle board and kayak are in the backyard that you can pop in your car to enjoy on the bay.This is a HISTORIC home built in 1904 with quirks and charm so please be aware of this before booking. Here is our completely honest disclaimer so you know exactly what you are getting! • The full bathroom upstairs is attached to the bedroom at the top of the back staircase. When multiple families stay, guests in the front bedroom will likely go downstairs and use the half bath at night. We hope to turn the tiny bedroom in the front of the home into a bathroom in the future. • The only shower and tub inside are in the upstairs full bath. In the summer, this does not seem to be a big deal as most guests take advantage of the outdoor shower. However, in the colder months, please be aware of this if multiple families are staying in the home.• The kitchen is also on the list to be remodeled – it works fine right now but does not have a dishwasher.• It’s also a historic home – being at the beach the floors sometimes get a little dusty and are a little squeaky. Occasionally, there will be bugs inside – again – it’s an older house at the beach and please expect some of these things as part of the charm!• We also had one person complain that we do not have china – we thought at first they meant Chinese food in town – however they meant fine china. Mostly including this in our disclaimer because we thought it was funny, however please know that we have cool kitchen dishes, but they are not … china.• Finally – know that our cleaning fee is less than what our cleaner actually charges. Please be aware of this if you book – especially in the off season when you have the chance to book for killer rates as we like to allow as many people as possible to get to enjoy one of our favorite places! We have the best cleaner on the Shore working with us, however it is hard to find reliable people in this somewhat remote location. This home is a short walk to the beach (4 blocks), one block from the town park and public Tennis/Pickle Ball Courts, and just around the corner from the wonderful Oyster Farm Restaurant and Events Venue. It offers three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths with an outdoor shower. The spacious master bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and a full size roll-away bed, adjoining full bathroom, 40" Smart Flat Screen TV, and home office space on the 3rd-floor private level. There are two guest bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second floor; one bedroom offers a queen-sized bed and a 32" Smart Flat Screen TV, with a door to the upper-level porch to enjoy the evening breeze. The third bedroom is perfect for adults and children, furnished with a full over full-size bunk bed, and a 32" Flat Screen TV. This room also offers an Infant Pack-N-Play, Baby Gate, Board Games, Children's Books, and a door to the upper-level porch, which is secured with an upper lock if needed to ensure safety for children. The living area has an open floor plan between the kitchen and the living room. The living room offers a 50" Samsung Flat Screen Smart TV, a comfy leather sofa, and two swivel chairs. Our home has Free Wi-Fi, Spectrum Cable, Roku's, and all the Smart TVs' features. The kitchen is well furnished for dining in; all updated stainless steel appliances, pots & pans, and small appliances (crock pot, toaster, blender, coffee maker, etc). We also have a nice custom farmhouse dining table, a bar area, and an infant high chair for dining. The backyard is perfect for grilling out, with a gas grill, picnic table, and fenced-in yard. We also offer an outdoor shower, storage shed, and 4 beach chairs. We have a golf cart available to rent for $275 per week and adjusted rates for shorter stays. There is a security camera placed on the front porch for additional security while the home is vacant and during turnover, however, we do not keep it on while you are occupying the home. Take advantage of one of the best Charter Captains on the Eastern Shore, Wilson Cropp, to guide you on an amazing fishing excursion to catch the Eastern Shores finest: Flounder, Red Drum, Cobia, Striper, or Shark. Captain Cropp also charters day trips to the abandoned barrier islands to enjoy shelling, bird watching, and fabulous scenic views.Historic Cape Charles is the best-kept secret on the Eastern Shore, with the most amazing sunsets, fishing, birdwatching, canoeing, kayaking, biking, or simply relaxing to your favorite book with your feet in the sand.
