The location was generally ok, just was not prepared for the hilly nature of Edinburgh. It was roughly a 15-20 minutes walk away from the Waverley train station. On top of that, you could also walk to other iconic sites like the Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, and Carlton Hill from the hotel while walking through iconic streets like the Victoria Street. Location wise I'd definitely say many attractions are highly accessible in walking distance from the hotel. The room was also clean and the staff were pretty friendly. One downside is that we did not get to try the facilities or food there so we cannot really give our opinions.

It's a good hostel, right in the center, a couple of minutes' walk from all the sights. I liked everything, but there was one downside: I was cold in the evening. At first, I thought someone had opened the window, but no, it was just a draft from the frames, and there was no heating anymore. The next day it was warmer outside, and in the hostel, too.

I visited Edinburgh over Easter, which was also my birthday, and had a wonderful stay. Magda was incredibly kind and arranged an early check-in before noon after I confirmed the day before. She also surprised me with balloons and chocolates in my room for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The staff provided clear information and gave excellent recommendations on places to visit, making my first trip to Edinburgh even more enjoyable. The hotel’s central location was perfect, close to all the main attractions, and the pool was a great bonus.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily visit again.

Fairly average hotel. Not worth the prices they charge.
Emailed reception 3 times before arrival, not one reply.
Room was nice and modern. Bed was comfy and shower was strong. Windows were only single glazed and looked over the train station which meant it was noisy even through the night.
The executive lounge isnt really an executive lounge. Its just the breakfast room. Offering was fairly basic. Coffee machine didnt work much during our stay. On the lower ground floor so no windows. The old lounge upstairs was much better. Clearly cutting back on what they offer to save money.
Breakfast was clearly designed for the American market. Crispy streaky bacon etc. Not what you normally get in the UK. Not the worst breakfast we've had but certainly not up to Hilton standard. Again, coffee machines not switched on so only standard coffee and tea was available, no cappuccino etc.
Wouldn't stay here again. There are many hotels in Edinburgh that offer much better value for the price charged.

I’m glad we are booked here Grassmarket as location is fantastic. Hotel is very well equipped with amenities o all good. Service staff are also very friendly and helpful even when busy and attending to several guests at once. Would highly recommend especially for first time tourists to Edinburgh. Only confusion was there are 2 APEX hotels almost next door to each other; make sure you are clear which one you booked.

The location is indeed great, very close to the station, just up a long flight of stairs. However, the water heater was broken on the day we arrived, but the staff were very proactive and fixed it. On the downside, the soundproofing is poor, and the room isn't very big.

Location is perfect. Just a few meters away from train station, walkable to Edinburgh attractions. Room is so basic, nothing provided. Can use chill out room to have your own meal. I’d rate 5* if they provide complementary at least towel, shower/shampoo.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, modern, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable night.
I would especially like to commend Callun for his professional and helpful assistance after my check-out. While I was waiting to collect my luggage, he efficiently resolved a minor issue by providing a charging lead for my phone. He also kindly offered me a seating area and a glass of water while I waited.
This level of attentive service is much appreciated. I will certainly choose this hotel again for my future visits to Edinburgh.

The location of the hotel is invincible (the house in the lower right corner of the second picture). Turn right after exiting the Market Street exit of the train station and walk for one minute. You don’t have to worry about carrying large luggage. When you cross the road, you will see Prince Street Park and Waverley Bridge (where the photo was taken). After crossing the bridge, you will see Prince Street. Turn right and walk for 15 minutes to Calton Hill. Turn right and walk for 3 minutes to the Royal Mile. There are many restaurants along the way. It is very close to the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, and the Art Museum. The staff’s service is very good. When they meet people from non-English speaking countries, they will communicate with guests at a very slow speed. It is also very convenient to store luggage. There is also an airport bus at the door of the hotel.

Great
LleonconnieThe room was incredibly spacious, with a separate living room. I'd definitely want to stay here long-term if I visit Scotland again. The room was very quiet, and the living room sofa converts into a bed. All the appliances were high-end brands like Dyson and Smeg. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. There's an NCP car park under the bridge a bit further down, costing around £25 per night. The hotel is very close to the castle, about a 5-minute walk, and about 10 minutes from the city center. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.

Ggaoling123The location couldn't be more perfect, right in the heart of the Royal Mile, with windows overlooking the church. A crucial tip for arrival: from the train station, definitely avoid the stairs and take the main road instead; it's about an 8-minute walk. The kitchen and washing machine are fully equipped, great for preparing your own tasty meals. The bedding was excellent, ensuring a very comfortable sleep. The only minor point was the slightly low shower pressure, but that's often to be expected in an older building.

SSMarieI really enjoyed my four days. Wonderful hotel the team was very friendly and helpful at all times of the day. Great location easy to get to from the Station/airport. Good trams service along Princes Street. Plenty of buses along South Bridge which is a short walk. Enjoyed the spa facilities especially the swimming pool. The lounge near the reception area is a little chilly but a nice spot to relax with a warm drink. Overall a very pleasant stay. Would recommend.
Rooms
Good size room, fantastic shower and products. Bed was very comfortable. It was a tad cold so I requested a blanket which was very snug. Bonus having a fridge and complimentary water nice touch. Tea/coffee try was good but would be great to have some hot chocolate.
Nearby activities
Holyrood Palace and gardens on your doorstep along with great views of Arthur Seat. Five minutes walk to the Royal Mile.
Food and drinks
There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel. I found the food a bit hit and miss to be honest. Breakfast is great with a great choice in food for all palettes. Warm friendly service.

GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay at the Ibis on the Royal mile. Our room was modern, adequate in size. The temperature was just right and the bed comfortable.
The location was excellent. We stayed at the back of the hotel and wasn’t bothered by a lot of noise. I would definitely recommend and will go back one day. An excellent choice and great value.

CCleo.C.Ideal location within budget
I used to study in Edinburgh uni and my student hall is right opposite - that’s why we chose here
The value is pretty good but I won’t give it 10/10 Here are the reasons
1. The towels have fluff coming out all the time
2. Bathroom hand wash sink doesn’t go down properly
3. Shower pressure fairly low
4!! The WiFi!! There’s barely any connection within our room. The 5G got down to 4G on 1-2 bar so even we use our own data is very slow…
The wifi gets way better in the Lobby and in public corridors but who wants to chill in the lobby after a whole day of walking…
My husband got severe dry eye symptoms at the end of the trip (it may not have something to do with the hotel but he wakes up every single night)
The hotel has very good amenities that benefits every member who stays. but within the room i can always figure out something that doesn’t match up the 4star hotel standard things.

GGuest UserThe room was very clean, and the location couldn't be better. It's practically right next to Market Street Station – just a short walk to the left after you exit. The back door leads directly to the Royal Mile, and the front door, after crossing the station, takes you straight to Princes Street. All the classic sights are within walking distance.
The only minor complaint is that there's ongoing renovation work on the building behind, and we were assigned a second-floor room facing that side. There was a possibility of being woken up by noise every morning.
Next time I stay, I'll definitely request a high-floor room with a view of the hill.

AAnonymous UserWe got the 2 Bedroom New Apartment which is very spacious, modern & clean with a kitchenette & best, washing machine! My kids love the place very much.
Location is a bit of walking distance from city centre but it’s okay as the stroll is nice. Not too crowded near to the city centre.

GGuest UserClean and well-maintained place with a pleasant atmosphere. A wide variety of games, food options, and a fully stocked bar are available, making it enjoyable at any time of day—from breakfast through dinner. The living spaces and common areas are comfortable, spacious, and nicely designed, perfect for relaxing and socializing. Overall, a great place to stay.

XXinlangcaifucaifThis hotel is on par with a 2-star hotel in China. The breakfast was absolutely dreadful! Renting a car in Edinburgh is expensive, and exceeding the mileage limit is a huge rip-off. The Elephant House is a must-visit for Harry Potter fans. As for the Sichuan restaurant across the street, it was extremely unfriendly to Chinese people. No greetings upon arrival or departure, just stern faces throughout. They didn't even say a word when we paid the bill, let alone a 'thank you'!

GGuest UserMy second stay here
Great location at a good price, in Edinburgh you will be outside most of the day in this great city so you just need a comfortable sleep at a good location which this hotel provides as it's at the tip of the royal mile and only few mins walk to Waverley bridge where you can get the airport express bus and also the train station, rooms have good Balmoral view
Just avoid the corner rooms cuz they have sluggish internet connection
