The bedding is comfortable, the south facing the river sun room, the feeling of the pillow river people, getting up in the morning, the birds and flowers are fragrant, hidden in the treasure homestay in the countryside! The boss contacted me in advance to remind me that booking tickets online is more favorable, and also sent a direct location to the parking lot. The staff at the hotel is very attentive! Arrived in the afternoon to check in, 10 minutes drive to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, very convenient.

I visited Zhouzhuang over the weekend, originally planning to finish in one day, but then decided to stay overnight and found this guesthouse. The location was excellent, right in the heart of the scenic area, very convenient. It has its own courtyard, with an elegant and cozy layout that perfectly captures the authentic charm of a traditional Jiangnan town. Waking up to birdsong and sitting quietly in meditation was incredibly pleasant. The room was clean and spacious, and I slept very well. I especially want to mention that the owner is a very kind and helpful person.

It's just a few steps from the ticket gate of Zhouzhuang Ancient Archway. The location is quite good. The whole homestay is the type I like. Every window and tile is a beautiful view. Next door is Maokong, a place to buy souvenirs and stamp. The boss is very enthusiastic. He came to the door to pick me up and recommended a delicious restaurant. The price-performance ratio is very high. It's very good to be quiet in the bustling ancient town.

I arrived in pouring rain. I thought I could walk to my hotel but it was impossible in the downpour. I didn’t want to bother any hotel owner.   I didn’t and still don’t  have an eSIM that can make local  call but thanks to Trip.com, there is a link that I could call the owner for free.  I didn’t advise the owners my arrival time so they were off running errands.  I called the owner to pick me up and thankfully he answered. He was busy but gracious enough to turn around and picked me up. It knew Zhouhuang requires a ticket but I didn’t know that no cars, nor motorcycles, nor bicycles are allowed. Without him I would have arrived the hotel easily.  I always like to meet the owners instead of employees . They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They are honest people who dedicate their  blood and sweat to their business. The owner even offered to walk me to the bus stop  to Suzhou which was my next destination.  This  operates two hotels with 9 in one and 6 in the other. The one that I stayed in with 9 rooms is in a  lively and busy area . Just outside the hotel is a restaurant and there are plenty of places to eat. Inside the hotel is a peaceful oasis where you won’t hear any noise. The location is the best. The other hotel is in a quieter neighborhood a few minutes away. Each of the 15 rooms has it’s own personality, is different and has its distinctive decoration. The owners said they decorated them themselves. I love the decoration and especially the lighting.  After you reserve a room, be sure to contact the owner for the exact address in case you want to arrive on your own. I think it is best to request the owner to take you there because he/she will lead you to the ticket booth to buy tickets. There are a number of bridges so heavy big luggages can be a bit of a challenge .  If you arrive after 5 pm, you can enter free of charge as no one is there to check your ticket. . But once you are inside, and if you choose to leave the area after 8 or 9 am until 5 pm, you have to pay to come back in. You can buy a one day or in my case 3 days pass.  Do check with the owner for up to date information.  The room was quite clean. There were hot water all the time. There were other guests during my stay but they were not noisy at all. I barely heard them. I slept very well during my 3 nights there.  Zhouhuang is really beautiful. There are many canals, bridges, boat rides, good food of all kinds. I had some of the best meals there. In fact , I ate in the same restaurant that serves dumpling twice. One night I had grill (BBQ) meat just outside the entrance for 4 yuans. .  There is decent size supermarket just outside the turnstile and not too far away is a much bigger supermarket. It was there where I bought half a Peking duck for only 32 yuans . The seller sliced the meat and separated the meat from  the bones. The bones he fried so it was crunchy.  It was delicious. There is a theater that offers performances. The night view is great. If you step out your room, you will be overwhelmed in a good sense by the exciting surroundings.  This hotel definitely is one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Look at the beautiful pictures and find one that you like.  I stayed only 3 nights and one of those days I went to Tongli. In my opinion, one should spend at least 2 to 3 full days in  Zhouhuang (and especially this hotel ) savor the ambience. I don’t think Tongli is worth the time because it was twice as expensive and there are not that many canals and boat rides. It is much quieter and has fewer things to see. . The worst is that the sightseeing places require you to show your ticket. After 2 places, I lost mine ticket and I  couldn’t get in the rest of the places. It is unnecessary to require proof of entrance because you can’t enter the area without a ticket.

This Zen inn hidden in the ancient town has the feeling of ”big hidden in the city”! From the difficult door to the low-key nearly invisible room door, every design is echoing the theme of ”Zen Yin”, and the ritual sense of opening the door with a traditional key is an instant atmosphere. The interior design of the quiet Zen style, with the soft decoration of logs, cotton and linen and Jiangnan elements, has both a simple charm and a comfortable texture. The room is clean and tidy, and the details are full of care. Outside the window is the small bridge and flowing water in the ancient town. It can make people slow down completely. It is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and empty the body and mind. I will never forget it once I have lived.

Rediscovering Zhouzhuang: Finding Serenity in the Silence of a Jiangnan Water Town More than a decade later, I found myself walking the cobblestone streets of Zhouzhuang once again. Unlike my hurried visit before, this time, we decided to stay, truly ”breathing in” the essence of this water town. The journey began with convenience and warmth right from the start. A spacious, free parking lot near the scenic area was a pleasant surprise for us, as we were driving. The bigger surprise came from the B&B owner, who enthusiastically picked us up on his electric scooter, saving us the hassle of dragging luggage and a child around while searching for our guesthouse. The owner was incredibly thoughtful; knowing we had a child, he specifically arranged a room with a beautiful view right outside the window. The room was clean, tidy, and well-equipped, allowing us to instantly shed our travel fatigue. After dropping off our bags, we began our stroll. Compared to my memories from over a decade ago, the Zhouzhuang before me had indeed changed a lot. It seemed to have shed its former hustle and bustle, like a beauty who has washed off her heavy makeup. The once-crowded streets were much quieter, and many of the storefronts along the street had closed down, which inevitably brought a hint of ”decline” and a touch of melancholy. However, this very ”decline” unexpectedly gifted us a rare treasure. Without the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds of Wuzhen or Xitang, it returned to us the most authentic ”serenity” of a Jiangnan water town. We were able to leisurely stroll on the smooth cobblestones, watching the sunlight filtering through the eaves of old houses, casting shimmering golden reflections on the river. Ancient bridges silently mirrored in the water, and the gentle creak of oars, though breaking the silence, somehow enhanced it further. Small bridges, flowing water, local homes... no longer a postcard surrounded by tourists, but a living painting we could savor on our own. This pleasure of escaping the crowds, this unhurried ease, became the most precious and rare experience of our trip. Zhouzhuang may no longer be bustling, but it taught us that sometimes, the most beautiful scenery is found in the tranquility that follows a period of quietude.

We got a room upgrade for free, the owner is a really nice woman, very friendly and helpful. The room is beautiful and near the river, from the window you can see the beautiful view outside. The location of the hotel is also convenient and close to the busy part of the old town, but not too close, so at night you can rest without being disturbed by noises. I recommend this hotel ❤️ all the pictures below i took inside or just in front of the hotel

The location is excellent, just next to Shen Wansan Shuiyu, very close to the entrance of the ancient town. The price is there, and the facilities, sanitation and environment need to be improved. The toilet setting of the single bathroom is not convenient, and the toilet can be sideways. The overall price is better.

The innkeeper is very welcoming. Most of the rooms in the inn have river views. It is very comfortable to watch the river view from the balcony at night. The room is clean and tidy. Overall, it is not rushed and you can experience the life in the water town.
