"Lankavatara offers a peaceful, secluded escape. The beach is beautiful and, for most of our stay, we had it almost entirely to ourselves. Do be aware that the sea is very rough, so it’s generally not suitable for swimming. The rooms have a rustic charm with basic amenities. While comfortable enough, I personally wouldn’t rate the property as a 4-star hotel. The Wi-Fi was also quite weak, which may be worth considering if you need a reliable internet connection. The staff were always willing to help when asked, although the service sometimes felt a little disingenuous and not always delivered with genuine warmth. Food service could also be quite slow at times, so it’s best to allow plenty of time for meals. One of the highlights of our stay was the surrounding area. A special mention goes to Upoint Restaurant, which serves exceptional home-cooked Sri Lankan seafood. The hosts there were incredibly welcoming and made for a memorable dining experience. Overall, we had a lovely stay. If you’re looking for a quiet, unspoilt beach, simple accommodation, and don’t mind a more relaxed pace of service, Lankavatara is a pleasant place to unwind."

"Absolutely loved this hotel! The natural environment here is fantastic. It's just a 10-15 minute drive from Tissa Lake. I arrived in the morning to the peaceful sounds of crickets and frogs. It was also a full moon that night, which made the scenery even more stunning. The swimming pool is impressively large too. I stayed on the ground floor, which meant I could step right out onto the lawn from my room. The hotel offers great value for money; the prices are reasonable and the rooms are quite spacious. It's noticeably cheaper than hotels situated closer to Yala National Park. I highly recommend booking the breakfast and dinner package. There aren't many other dining options nearby, and more importantly, the buffet is absolutely delicious!!! They offer a great variety of Western dishes, incredibly sweet fruits, and even sushi, making it very suitable for the Chinese palate. For our morning safari, we requested a packed meal from the hotel. It was incredibly generous, including water, various drinks, juice, sandwiches, and cake – truly more than we could finish! Upon our return, breakfast was still ongoing. I explained to a staff member that I was feeling quite hot and asked if I could get a drink. She was very accommodating, assuring me it was absolutely fine, but did clarify that since we had taken a packed breakfast, we wouldn't be able to have another full meal in the dining area."

"A luxurious hotel with excellent interior design. The rooms are a bit dated, but there's still a colonial charm, even in the slightly worn furniture. We stayed in October. It was very uncrowded. The hotel was empty. We explored everything. We used the fitness center—there's a good selection of exercise machines. The hotel has live music at various times. Animals roam the hotel; we saw a jerboa, rabbits, mongooses, a monitor lizard, and monkeys in the trees by the golf course. Ask for half board—there's nowhere to dine nearby. The ocean is mesmerizing in its power and beauty. The waves roar like thunder. We didn't swim; the red flag was on, and the waves were nearly 3 meters high, with sand. Overall, we were pleased with our stay."

"We had a wonderful time. The hotel and the staff were absolutely amazing. They took such great care of us and really ensured our holiday was special. It's hard to mention everyone by name but a particular mention to Chandana who was our head waiter. He went above and beyond for every meal we were there, and really looked after us. Also another mention to our gentleman from the pool (I'm sorry I forgot his name), but he also was really amazing and took great care of us. There was a resident turtle in the cove which we saw every day which just made it even more amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel."

"The hotel boasts an excellent location, nestled in the jungle near Yala National Park, less than a kilometer from its ticket office. To reach the hotel, guests need to transfer via the property's jeep. The pickup point is easily found on Google Maps by searching for 'Kulu Safari Guest Pickup point'. You won't miss it, as there's a huge, brand-new Buddha statue on the left side of the road at this spot. The hotel owner runs the place with great dedication and has a strong service ethic. We had a delightful experience throughout our stay. The hotel grounds are quite spacious, set on a well-maintained plot carved out of the jungle. It's adorned with numerous large palm trees and features clean paths. The environment is excellent, with surprisingly few mosquitoes or insects. With only 5 rooms, each is a private, self-contained unit featuring a bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. Amenities include well-functioning air conditioning, a fan, drinking water, coffee, and a kettle. Hot water showers have moderate flow and decent pressure. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel boasts its own jetty, offering guests the chance to go boating on the lake. The lake and surrounding landscape are stunning, especially at sunset. It's 1000 LKR per person (with a guide to paddle), and highly recommended. Breakfast and dinner are available on-site, exclusively offering vegetarian cuisine. While alcoholic beverages are not served, guests are welcome to bring their own. Ideal for: Travelers seeking an immersive jungle stay who still desire modern comforts (air conditioning, hot water, and a mosquito-free environment), and are looking for good value for money."

"It was average, nothing good or bad. It happened to be New Year's Eve when we arrived here. We met a tour group celebrating New Year's Eve, so we asked the hotel to order a cake. From the side, the service was quite attentive. The response time when we asked for an extra blanket was normal. The price of the food was also consistent with the quality. The toilet was too close to the shower room, which was inconvenient to use."
