"My wife and I recently completed our second stay at the Solana Hotel & Spa, having previously spent a full month here in May 2022. This time we stayed for 18 nights beginning May 28 and booked two rooms, as another family member joined us. We requested the same studio room we had previously, along with a standard room next door. The studio had been nicely updated with a new TV, mattress, wardrobe, and kitchenette. The bathroom was modern and well designed, with an excellent walk-in rain shower, handheld wand, consistent water pressure, and reliable hot water. We did, however, encounter two housekeeping issues. One nightstand drawer clearly needed cleaning, having apparently been overlooked when the room was prepared. More concerning was a persistent foul odor coming from the kitchenette cupboard area. Although the odor could mostly be contained by keeping the cupboard doors closed, it was never fully resolved despite multiple requests to management. This should be investigated, as other guests might reasonably find it unacceptable. Our balcony overlooked the main street with views of the church and the sea beyond. Despite being above the street, noise was rarely an issue, and we enjoy this location because it lets us experience the atmosphere of Mellieħa while being directly across from our favorite restaurant, Ta' Peter. The hotel has expanded dramatically since our last visit. The enlarged lobby and Bellini's restaurant are attractive additions, while the adults-only rooftop infinity pool provides a quieter alternative to the family pool and bar. A new sixth-floor social area with games and reading spaces is also a welcome addition. Overall, we had another enjoyable stay, but there were several issues management should address. One involved breakfast. One of our rooms was booked and prepaid with breakfast for two adults, but because only one person occupied the room, the hotel provided breakfast for only one guest. In effect, 18 prepaid breakfasts were forfeited without any credit or alternative, which was disappointing. The second issue involved parking. On three occasions, roadworks blocked access to the underground garage, requiring us to park on the street overnight. Since we had prepaid for parking, I expected those nights to be refunded automatically. Instead, I had to request a credit, which seemed to require unnecessary management discussion. A €10 credit should simply be issued whenever prepaid parking cannot be provided. Bellini's restaurant now easily accommodates the hotel's larger capacity, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of fresh, well-prepared food. The only frustration was the coffee service. There was always a long queue at the machine near the buffet. After asking a manager, I learned there were three additional machines elsewhere in the restaurant, but there was no signage directing guests to them. A few simple signs would eliminate much of the waiting. The underground parking garage also needs improvement. During our 18-night stay, we encountered four occasions when no security guard was present to open the entrance, leaving us waiting outside for up to 30 minutes. The posted security number often went unanswered, and the front desk was unable to help. For a paid service, guests should not have to wait outside late at night or make repeated phone calls just to access the garage. Despite these criticisms, I would gladly stay here again and continue recommending the Solana Hotel & Spa. Its location is outstanding, the accommodations are comfortable, the facilities have improved considerably, and it offers excellent value. I hope management views these comments as constructive feedback from a returning guest who has spent more than six weeks at the hotel over two visits. Addressing these issues would make an already very good hotel even better."

"The hotel has everything you need and the staff are great. It’s a little out the way, taking over an hour by bus to get to Valetta. I think it’s more of an all- inclusive vibe than a staying amongst it vibe, which is great if that’s what you’re looking for. The staff were all amazing though and the range of things available in the hotel is good. It’s a good location for ferries to Gozo and Comino and is right next to Ahrax bus stop where you can get to most places on the island from. Overall it was a good experience! And the local cats are very well looked after and friendly!"

"The hotel left a very positive impression. The location is excellent, close to the sea and the promenade with many restaurants. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Check-in was very easy thanks to the code system — quick and convenient. The staff was always available and ready to help. Breakfast is simple but sufficient: yogurt, fruits and juices are provided in the room, which is very convenient. During the season, there is a rooftop pool, which is very atmospheric and offers a nice view. The spa was not exactly what we expected, but still quite pleasant and a good place to relax. "We had a most remarkable experience at Radisson Blu Golden Bay over the weekend. The service, the comfort, the luxury, it was absolutely incredible. From the moment we checked in, we were treated to a VIP experience. The lovely receptionist, Dawn, informed us that we had been upgraded. The room ended up being sea view, corner suite with a whole living area and fully equipped kitchen and dining room as well! A little box of welcome chocolates with a card signed by the hotel manager was the absolute cherry on the cake. As a belated Christmas, Valentine's Day and anniversary rolled into one, this was a super romantic gesture. The room was clean, comfortable and the view was breathtaking. The bathroom had 2 sinks, which we loved, and a rainfall shower with strong hot water pressure. There were bathrobes, slippers and you can always ask for extras of anything. There was room service but we went to the restaurant instead. The hotel has an Italian, an Indian, a buffet style restaurant and a lounge bar. The pizzas we ordered at the Italian restaurant was really good. For breakfast, there is a massive buffet with hot and cold foods, savoury dishes, fresh fruits and pastries/cakes. We even had mimosa cocktails! On one of our mornings, we were attending an event, so the hotel kindly packed a breakfast for us to take away. They generously gave us sandwiches, yogurts, drinks, cereal bars and lots of fresh fruits. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, we went to both but it was very cold outside for this time of the year. There was also a jacuzzi and sauna. The indoor pool is adults only from 1pm to 4pm. There is a 24 hours gym which was well equipped, and a games room for the youngsters. As the hotel is located in a secluded corner of the island, they have also got a supermarket to buy water, alcohol, snacks, sunscreen and pool accessories etc. It was very well stocked. Honestly, this was a top-rated hotel experience for us, and we were really sad at check-out, we didn't want to leave! Definitely recommend, and we dream of returning one day."

"Our room was spacious clean and with a fantastic view. Plenty of pools. And a gym sauna and a excellent breakfast buffet everything and more. The juice could be better but that's the only minor issue everything else was spot on"

"The room was very nice but noisy with a busy road and hotel noises during the night. You are a captive audience, with no immediate outside facilities. The food was adequate, if not overpriced. Hotel quality, not restaurant quality. Edible but nothing to write home about. You need a bus to go anywhere. The next couple of little towns offer a variety of restaurants. The facilities in the hotel are OK but nothing to see unless you like ferries. A bus pass at the airport costs 27 euros and should last a week, even if you go out daily. This is the very top of the island, so you will need transport, unless you just want to sit by the pool."

"The hotel is clean and well-maintained, with a restaurant and two pools on site. The rooftop pool is adults-only. Downstairs, there's a shaded pool, 1.1m deep, perfect for kids. There were enough sun loungers. After 4 days, the breakfast got a bit boring, even though there seemed to be a decent selection. There's really no dedicated play area for kids where they could have fun and parents could relax a bit."

"Very quiet, cozy hotel with very friendly staff. The room is good and clean. Kettle, tea, coffee in the room. Shampoo, shower gel, soap, hair dryer. Close to the sea. It takes about an hour to get to Valletta by bus. Wonderful hotel and service! Thanks administrator ( resections)😍"

"Overall clean and friendly place ㅇ Advantages - Close to Gojo Island - Quite clean and quiet place - Breakfast was better because it was not a buffet. It's a breakfast served ~ Besides, there are three choices, breakfast for starters! Fantastic !! ㅇ Disadvantages - A place too hard to shower because of the bathroom without shower booth - I told you in advance that I gave you a room with a shower booth, but I couldn't find it anywhere when I booked. - A little difficult to check in if you go late in the evening. You have to read the QR of the explanation at the door and go to the restaurant in front of the hostel to get the check-in envelope. It was a good place to stay for these shortcomings"
