"We made a reservation and then the day before our reservation date the motel called and canceled our reservation stating that someone extended their stay so we got canceled. I guess they don't understand the concept of a "RESERVATION". This was very inconvenient and caused us headaches while trying to make other arrangements. Very unprofessional."

"Clean,safe and friendly. Laminate floors appeared new which gave a cleaner appearance. But would have gladly paid more for a better mattress and coffee in the room. Did not sleep well due to mattress and air not cooling well. Needs to consider upgrading the rooms and charging more since there is no other option locally."

"We made our reservation via phone and it was confirmed by owner or employee via text three days prior to our arrival. My husband and I chose this motel mainly because of the reviews on trip advisor (and I was trying to keep travel costs down). We arrived tired and hungry after 9 hours on the road. We checked in and no sooner got our suitcases into the room when we were told that the room was booked to someone via a Booking App and we had to leave. Our confirmation was shown to the poor, sweaty, apologetic employee but after his speaking to the owner we were told unless we wanted a room with no air conditioning, we had to leave. We had no recourse but to leave. We ended up staying at a more expensive, rougher looking establishment and by the time we got settled it was too late for any local restaurant so we ate at McDonald's. Following my correspondence to the owner, he did reach out to us to apologize but we got a couple different reasons for our reservation not being honored and none explained why the person whose arrival time we were told was 11:00 pm was more important than my husband and I who were there. I feel in the future it will be safer to use *********** or another booking App. Room is worth what is charged. "

I slept there and left. I didn't have any impression of this place at all. I wrote this review just to wait for someone to meet me Since I have no impression, it means there is no pitfall. "I stayed at the Scotland Neck in August, 2023 and was very disappointed. The price was very reasonable, the TV and WiFi worked well and check-in was easy and pleasant, but I could find little else good to say. The building and décor are very dated and offer little in the way of amenities. They have a breakfast room, but it is piled high with stored furniture and fixtures and no breakfast of any kind – not even coffee. (Don’t believe the photos displayed!) My room was spacious but with old furniture that showed its age. The wooden arms of the desk chair were sticky to the touch, even after wiping them down with an antiseptic wipe, as were the surfaces of the desk and night table. There were no hand towels or tissues in the bathroom. The toilet was loose and rocked on the floor with excess dirty caulking at the base and stains from leaks on the floor tiles. I think the only reason the Scotland Neck Inn does any business, is that they are the only hotel in the area. The hotel lost power twice in the afternoon and evening for about 4 hours total after a thunderstorm. Not sure if it was the local power grid that was sensitive or the hotel that had issues. But losing power and AC on a 90+ degree day was not pleasant! I will certainly look elsewhere and drive farther if necessary to find lodging the next time I am in the area. "
