"This was my third visit to Pingyao, and the hotel's location was perfectly within my expected target – very close to the City God Temple, Confucius Temple, and South Street. Traveling with kids, my first choice is always a kang-bed room within the ancient city. When booking, I only focused on the size of the kang and overlooked the room's overall area. After checking in, I realized the room was a bit cramped with two kids and luggage. The next day, seeing other guests check out, I decisively upgraded the room, which significantly improved the kids' activity space. The owner was very welcoming; I contacted him in advance when we were close, and he waited for us in the parking lot. He was just as enthusiastic in dropping us back at the parking lot when we left. This guesthouse is a renovated old residence, making it easier for the kids to better understand and experience the glory of Jin Merchants."

The food street is just a ten-minute walk away. Overall, it's a five-star experience!"

"The location is right by the ancient city gate. You can park your car directly at the gate and walk in. This homestay is very thoughtful; they helped us book discounted tickets for 'Another Pingyao' in advance, and during our stay, they assisted with calling taxis, booking restaurants, and arranging a tour guide. When an elder accidentally fell in the room, the landlady even bought spray and plasters for them. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast had a good variety and was delicious; they were also flexible with adding or removing items, and there was a sweet soup every day. The only minor complaint might be that the pillows were a bit too firm..."

"When I went to Pingyao, I specifically chose to stay at the Xihe Academy Residence within the ancient city. The academy's location is excellent; all the attractions in the ancient city are within a 10 to 20-minute walk, which is incredibly convenient. We could even return to our room for a nap in the afternoon. We booked a room with a 'kang' (heated brick bed), and it was a really interesting experience to try out the northern style of sleeping on a heated bed. I have to especially commend their incredibly attentive service. Their service model started right from our arrival at the high-speed train station: a business car picked us up and took us to the academy, where they provided guidance on dining and sightseeing. When we left, they again provided transport back to the high-speed train station, and even gave us a local specialty as a farewell gift. I highly recommend Xihe Academy Residence."

The room was clean and well-maintained, though a bit small. It has an antique Chinese architectural style, with each courtyard consisting of two floors. From the moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, its unique charm was immediately apparent. The lobby boasts a grand yet elegant design, where modern and classic elements are skillfully blended. Exquisite chandeliers and artistic ornaments catch your eye, with every detail showcasing impeccable taste and style. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and attentive; the check-in process was efficient and quick. They even thoughtfully provided information about the hotel's facilities and local attractions, which made me feel incredibly welcome. The guest room was even more delightful. Spacious and bright, it featured a minimalist yet stylish decor, making it feel very cozy and comfortable. The bed was wonderfully soft, with a perfectly balanced mattress and high-quality linens, guaranteeing a perfect night's sleep. The room was fully equipped with all the necessary amenities, and the smart devices were easy to use. The large LCD TV and fast, stable Wi-Fi met both my work and entertainment needs. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation, and the well-known brand toiletries exuded a subtle, pleasant fragrance. The bathtub was spotlessly clean, and soaking in it while enjoying the view outside was utterly delightful. The hotel's dining options were also highly commendable. Breakfast offered a rich and diverse selection, with everything from Chinese hot congee, steamed buns, and Youtiao, to Western bread, coffee, and fried eggs. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors delicious, catering to all guests' preferences. Moreover, the restaurant's ambiance was elegant, and the staff were always readily available, making the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel's recreational facilities were also very comprehensive. The gym was fully equipped to meet all daily workout needs, and the heated swimming pool, with its crystal-clear water, offered an incredibly relaxing swim for both body and mind. Xieshengchang truly excelled in terms of service, facilities, and ambiance, making it an excellent choice for both business trips and leisure getaways. I eagerly anticipate my next opportunity to stay here and once again experience its thoughtful care and wonderful atmosphere."

"We had a lovely stay at Elsewhere westgate, conveniently located in quiet corner close to the old town entrance. Helen and the team provided great service with olenty of information and tips. The premises are beautiful and cozy. The breakfast is optional and you can choose between Chinese and Western options. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to any international traveller (staff speaks English and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home). Ps. Pingyao is a hidden gem. If you travel between Beijing and Xian make sure to stop here!"

Although it’s a small property with only about 6–8 rooms, everything about it feels thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. The hotel is newly renovated, with tasteful decorations that blend traditional character with a fresh, comfortable atmosphere. What impressed me the most was the owner. He is incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful, his service goes far beyond expectations. From the moment I arrived, I felt well taken care of, and his sincerity really made the stay special. Location is superb! The room was spotless, one of the cleanest I’ve experienced. I actually walked around and looked at a few other motels in Pingyao, and I can confidently say this one stands out as the best in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and overall quality. On top of all that, the price is very reasonable for what you get. It’s rare to find a place that offers such great value together with such heartfelt hospitality. Highly, highly recommended , I would definitely stay here again."

"The family who runs the accomodation are very nice and helpful. I asked them to help me to rent a e-bike for the day and immediately they where finding me a solution. They are very responsive and kind. TIP TO FIND THE PLACE: you should look well for the number 4 is placed directly at the front door Room was small but nice and cozy, for a solo traveler totally fine. You should know the mattress is not a western mattress, is harder. I really like it and I rested beautifully but if you are really into soft stuff you will need to adapt. Location is nice, 10-15 min walk to the exit gate. Just for you to know, if you travel to the city in August is going to be very very very busy, and many people inside the inner walls. That means to exit the walls from the hotel is going to be a hard slalom in between people for many minutes. I guess the rest of the year is way calmer. I recommend the place"

"This courtyard-style hotel boasts a charming blend of ancient Ming and Qing dynasty aesthetics with modern interior decor, offering a quiet and comfortable stay. We had originally booked a guesthouse inside the ancient city, but it was too noisy, so we canceled and booked this hotel instead. Since cars aren't allowed into the ancient city, two staff members picked us up with two electric bikes. The next morning, the hotel owner drove us to the South Gate parking lot to retrieve our own car. The owner's family is incredibly kind and decent people. I accidentally lost my glasses on the way, and a family member drove me to an optical shop on an electric bike to get a new pair – I'm so grateful! I usually don't leave reviews, good or bad, but this time I absolutely had to, and it definitely deserves five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"Such a good place to stay to explore the city! My room was big, comfy and the location of the hotel is amazing (just next to one of the biggest streets and super close to many attractions)! You even have AC. Check in is easy. Obviously the vibe of the building is a big plus and did not disappoint :) I would definitely stay there again!"
