"The environment was beautiful, the view of the Nanla River from the balcony was fantastic, and the room's decor and amenities were also quite nice. I stayed during the off-season, so it was quiet and peaceful with few people. At night, some water birds or other animals called out outside the balcony, which startled me. The hotel offered a 30% discount on rafting, so after the first day's rafting, I stayed an extra day and went rafting again the next day. It happened to be during a market day, so the food wasn't great, but I thought the atmosphere was wonderful. I didn't drive, so I ate at the hotel restaurant both days. The two ladies there were very cheerful and friendly; on sunny days, we ate outdoors by the river while enjoying the breeze. After rafting, my pants were wet, so I just took my plate of fried rice back to my room. The hotel also helped me book a car back to Mengla County after checking out. A truly wonderful vacation experience. Except for not seeing the dragon fruit lanterns in spring and summer, I had absolutely no regrets."

Anantara Xishuangbanna’s refined luxury provide an indulgent backdrop for explorations through China’s oldest and largest botanical garden, diverse ethnic tribal villages, and hillside tea plantations that produce the world-renowned Pu’er tea.
"Honestly, the Anantara hotel service doesn't live up to its price. Throughout the entire hotel, the most enthusiastic and attentive staff weren't the front desk or the waitstaff, but rather the shuttle drivers (quick to respond, thoughtful, and thorough). The front desk service was, frankly, a bit cold and robotic (perhaps it's the difference between members and non-members). All the complimentary activities had very limited time slots and few options, so all the included benefits went to waste (for example, the spa's hours were from 1 PM to 6 PM, which is exactly when you'd be out exploring, right? After visiting the botanical garden, there was no time to come back and relax. The bar also closed quite early. Given it's a resort hotel and the surroundings are quite remote, I suggest they adjust the timings). Furthermore, the Chinese restaurant wasn't very good, and it was expensive. Breakfast was also very average (I recommend the Dai cuisine restaurant near the hotel; it's good value for money and within walking distance). Perhaps because the room was close to the river, the duvet felt a bit damp. The absolute most frustrating thing was when I asked housekeeping for an extra duvet, they replied: 'The hotel has no more duvets, only blankets.' That was truly a bit speechless-inducing. Upon checkout, I didn't receive their elephant plush toy, which I assume is also a member privilege. Non-members probably aren't entitled to it. In summary, I was quite disappointed, though perhaps my expectations were too high. The advantages are that the rooms are spacious, the hotel is beautiful and very Thai in style, and it's within walking distance of the botanical garden."

"The most surprising experience of this trip to Mengla was the Levande Hotel! It's right near the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and only a 20-minute drive to the Wangtianshu Scenic Area (the front desk lady was so kind to let me know there's a weekend market going on there—you can ride a shared electric bus to experience the unique local night market life). You can even see Dai villages along the way. The location is perfect! Another comfort and convenience feature is the hotel's free pick-up service (because it was already past 7 p.m. and I hadn't realized how hard it was to get a taxi. After waiting for half an hour with no one to respond, I realized the hotel offered a pick-up service and quickly contacted the hotel through the booking process. The driver was incredibly friendly!) The hotel room was even bigger than I expected! Over 30 square meters was plenty comfortable! The tropical decor, large windows, and cleanliness were topped off! The disposable bath towels were especially impressive: individually sealed, thick, and lint-free. Upon opening, we found a thick, non-woven fabric that's highly absorbent and lint-free (a reassuring thought for those of us who are particular about hygiene and attention to detail)."

"The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is about 50 kilometers from Jinghong city. Its East and West sections are quite large, and a full day isn't enough to explore everything. I'd read stories about botanists from the Academy before, so I made the botanical garden a priority and decided to stay at a hotel within it. The room rate I booked online included entrance tickets, which made it a pretty good deal for two people. After our rental car arrived at the East Gate, I called the hotel front desk, and they allowed us to enter. On the afternoon of our arrival, we explored the larger East Section's rainforest, which offered a stunning view of various rainforest vegetation. The hotel's restaurant was quite good; the local dishes at dinner were authentic, and I even saw family gatherings of XTBG staff – quite a change from how their predecessors lived! The next morning, we hired a guide and toured the different areas of the West Section. All in all, choosing to stay at the botanical garden hotel made this trip incredibly rewarding. Facilities: The in-room facilities met our needs, and the small balcony offered views of the flora and fauna. Hygiene: Clean and tidy. Environment: The botanical garden environment is unique and relaxing. Service: The front desk and restaurant service were excellent, and the breakfast offered a good variety, including local specialty snacks."

"It is undoubtedly the best hotel in Mengla. It is worth mentioning that among so many hotels in the world, this is also the hotel with the best service and the most popular service. Manager Zhang of the hotel contacted me a week in advance and added WeChat, saying that he could provide a series of services and help. Of course, other hotels also have this kind of advance communication service. One day in advance, Manager Zhang arranged a room for me and kindly reminded me if I had any needs. It felt that service was really supreme. He was still replying to my WeChat in the middle of the night to explain the situation of the nearby scenic spots. After arriving at the hotel, Manager Zhang came out to greet us in person, politely, and sent us to the room. He left after making arrangements. After checking in, Manager Zhang booked a package for the Wangtian Tree, which was cheaper than the scenic spot. During the stay, you can say WeChat at any time and solve it immediately. It is much better than those large five-star mechanized services and has more warmth. The hotel is very new in all aspects, the bedding is comfortable, it is a five-star standard, the room size is suitable, and it is not crowded for two large and two small people. The bath water is large and comfortable, and the ginger shampoo is also good, and the hair is refreshed after washing. Although the breakfast variety is not as much as that of large five-star hotels, everything is delicious. The Western pastries are well made. The children ate a lot. The pepper chicken gizzards were so delicious that they ate a big bowl of porridge. Breakfast is much better than that of Banna Century Jinyuan anyway. "The hotel offers a pickup service, which was absolutely perfect! The owner herself picked us up and dropped us off. Upon arrival, a staff member helped with our luggage, which was a thoughtful touch. I was amazed when I entered the room; it was even better than the pictures! The room was spacious, clean, and tidy. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation. This place was a pleasant surprise, offering excellent value for money. "I went to Molin Port during the May Day holiday and chose to live in Mengla County. It was also convenient to go to the venue the next morning. The hotel was hygienic. After all, it was a chain hotel and parking was convenient. But the quilt was too thick. I couldn’t sleep hot with the air conditioner on. I don’t need such a thick quilt in Yunnan all seasons. It should be equipped with air conditioning quilts, both pillows are very high, and I slept for one night."
