Scenic Hotels in Sintra

"A family resort full of kids, probably suitable for their needs, not ours, unfortunately. Not really the best experience for a couple trying to enjoy their stay. Both inside and outside pool full of children, ended up not swimming at all. There was only a buffet dinner available at the restaurant or some small snacks at the bar. We paid 15eur each for a ”caesar” salad, with the ingredients: lettuce, bread crutons, some burned bacon, chicken resembling a prebaked chicken from Lidl unfrosted from the freezer, and caesar sauce. Breakfast had some more choices, and gladly some fresh fruits, but no fresh juices like in all other hotels during our stay in Portugal, only the cheapest orange juice you can probably get. Even though the staff was very nice, the resort is quite run down looking and rooms very basic. Probably an ok stay for a family with smaller kids, couples try somewhere else."

"The hot water wasn't working properly, and the worst part is that the owner knew it and didn't try to fix it beforehand. When we complained, the only solution she offered was to cancel the second night and refund us for that night—disgraceful. It's frankly inconvenient having to wait half an hour or even half an hour for the water to come out lukewarm and then showering like that in the freezing cold."

"Прекрасная историческая гостиница в центре Синтры. Интерьеры восхитительны, особенно отдельных чайных комнат. Как в другую эпоху попадаешь. Удобная кровать, хороший вифи, кофемашина в номере. Чисто. Большая ванная комната с окном. Завтрак полон деликатесов - изысканные сыры, мясо, фрукты. Из минусов - автоматика набора воды в сливной бачок унитаза заедала, пришлось починить. Лампочка в коридоре номера не горела."

"La camera è in realtà un grazioso mini appartamento con camera, bagno e cucina con buoni spazi a disposizione. Avrebbe bisogno di qualche lavoretto di manutenzione (la porta della doccia non chiude bene, pareti un po' rovinate, filtro del bagno cieco non pulito...) La pulizia generale è buona, peccato solo per il pesante odore di fritto presente all'interno (non abbiamo capito se qualcuno avesse cucinato o se veniva dell'esterno, pur tenendo aperte le finestre non è andato via). La host ci ha accolti con molta gentilezza parlando bene in inglese. La posizione è molto comoda per raggiungere la zona centrale a piedi ma è assolutamente sconsigliato arrivarci in auto. Pochi giorni prima dell'arrivo abbiamo ricevuto una mail da LovelyStay.com che ci informava che il centro storico è interdetto alle auto dei turisti e ci suggeriva una via vicina dove parcheggiare. La via in questione è stretta e con pochissimi parcheggi a bordo strada e impostandola sul navigatore non si trova. Dopo oltre 3 ore alla ricerca di un parcheggio con code chilometriche abbiamo lasciato l'auto in stazione e pagato un taxi per arrivare alla struttura (c'è anche l'autobus che arriva nella piazzetta principale). Ovviamente il traffico congestionato non è colpa di chi gestisce la struttura ma ritengo che sia necessario informare meglio chi la deve raggiungere per evitare disagi. Pur essendo partiti con ampio anticipo da Lisbona abbiamo mancato l'ingresso a Quinta de Regaleira, che purtroppo non siamo riusciti a vedere, perdendo anche i soldi del biglietto per 2 persone."

"The hotel is very close to the railway station, and it is easy to find it according to the navigation. The outside courtyard is beautiful, and the lobby and public areas are also beautiful. However, because it is an old house, there is no elevator, and if you live on a high floor, you have to carry your suitcase to go up. This is basically the problem in hotels where you live in old houses in Portugal. We booked a suite with a small loft and a small balcony outside the loft with a nice view. Breakfast is their own coffee shop, not with the place where they live, it is very close, less than 5 minutes. Breakfast is Western style, with bread, cheese, desserts, fruits, a cup of juice and coffee per person, which is quite hearty."
