The Philippines Arrival Card is a digital immigration and customs declaration form, it’s not a visa. It replaces the old paper forms you used to fill out on planes or at the airport. The government uses it to collect essential info:
- Basic personal details (full name, date of birth, contact info)
- Passport details (number, issue/expiry dates, issuing country)
- Travel info (flight number, country of departure, accommodation address)
- Customs declaration (food, agricultural products, cash over USD 10,000)
- Health declaration (recent travel to restricted areas, illness history, vaccination status if required)
It’s 100% online, free to use, and takes 5–10 minutes to complete. Once submitted, you’ll get a QR code—save it digitally (phone) or print a copy to show at immigration and customs.
Who Needs to Complete Philippine eTravel Card?
Most people traveling to the Philippines need to fill it out, but there’s one big exception (this rule started in late 2025 and still stands):
- You need it if: You’re a foreign tourist, business traveler, student, transit passenger, an OFW who’s not coming back to stay, or any non-Filipino citizen.
- You don’t need it if: You’re a Filipino citizen coming back home (including returning residents). Immigration stopped making them do it once COVID cases went down.
Quick heads-up for American Travelers
Even if you are traveling on a US Passport (or from other visa-free countries like Singapore or Malaysia) and staying for less than 30 days, you still have to do the eTravel.
It is important to remember that the eTravel registration is a border security and health declaration—it is entirely separate from visa rules. Always ensure you register via the official government portal within 72 hours of your flight to avoid delays at the gate.
How to Get & Fill the Philippine eTravel Card?
Follow these steps—do it within 72 hours before your departure from your home country to avoid long airport lines. The official portal is the only one you need.
- Access the official eTravel portal: Go to etravel.gov.ph on your phone or computer. Select the “Arriving” option (for travelers entering the Philippines).
- Fill in personal & passport details: Enter your full name (as shown on your passport), date of birth, nationality, passport number, passport issue/expiration date and country of issue. Check it carefully - mistakes can cause delays.
- Add travel details: Enter your flight number, the date/time of departure from your home country, the date/time of arrival in the Philippines, and your accommodation address (hotel name, address, or a friend/family member's home if you are staying with someone).
- Complete customs declaration: Be honest here - if the food, plants, animals, or cash you carry exceeds $10,000 (or equivalent), declare. Undeclared items can be seized.
- Finish health declaration: Answer some simple questions about recent visits to restricted countries, exposure to infectious diseases or recent illness. In 2026, most travelers will not need proof of vaccination (unless the government updates it).
- Submit & save your QR code: After viewing all the information, submit the form. You will receive a QR code via email (or you can save it directly from the portal website). Carry this QR code with you at all times - you can scan it upon entry.
If you forget to do so before departure, the staff of the Philippine Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) will assist you at the airport, but this will slow you down.

Prepare these when you fill out the form - you need to refer to them:
- Valid passport: It must be valid for at least six months after arrival. Also, make sure there are two blank stamps (not just the small back pages). A damaged passport (tears, water damage) cannot be used. If your passport is damaged, please renew it.
- Confirm flight information: your flight number, departure and arrival dates, and the name of the airline.
- Accommodation information: The complete address of your hotel, Airbnb or the place where you and your friends/family are staying.
- Children: Even infants need their own passports (you cannot add them to your passport) and their own electronic travel forms. They also have to follow the same passport rules.

How to Enter the Philippines (Step-by-Step Entry Process)?
If you are ready, entering the Philippines is very simple. The following is the complete process from before departure to upon arrival:
1. Pre-Departure (Do This Before You Fly)
- Complete eTravel registration: Do so within 72 hours of departure (using etravel.gov.ph). Save the QR code digitally and print a backup.
- Check visa requirements: As a U.S. citizen, you do not need to apply for a visa at an embassy or consulate for short-term visits. You are granted visa-free entry for a stay of up to 30 days, provided your stay is for tourism or business purposes.
- Pack required docs: passport (in compliance with regulations), eTravel QR code, confirmation of return air ticket (the immigration office may ask to view it to prove that you have not overstayed), accommodation reservation (confirmed by hotel /Airbnb).
2. On the Plane
- Flight attendants may issue physical customs declaration forms, but this is optional. Your e-travel already includes customs information - as long as you show the QR code at customs, you can skip the paper form.
- Keep your electronic travel QR code, passport and visa (if applicable) easily accessible - you will need them immediately upon landing.
3. Arrival at the Airport (Immigration)
- Join the “Foreign Nationals” line (or “Visa-Exempt” line if applicable—look for signs).
- Hand over: passport, electronic travel QR code (digital or printed) and visa (if you are not a visa-free visitor).
- The immigration authorities might ask some simple questions: "How long will you stay?" Where do you live? What is the purpose of your trip? Answer clearly, no detailed explanation is needed.
- They will stamp the date of entry and the duration of stay on your passport, carefully check the stamp to ensure it matches your planned travel time.

4. Baggage Claim
- Head to the baggage carousel with your flight number. If your bag is lost/damaged, report it to your airline’s baggage service desk immediately (keep your boarding pass handy).
5. Customs
- If you have nothing to declare (no food, plants or more than $10,000 in cash), please go through the "Nothing to Declare" line.
- If you do have something to declare, use the "Declare" line. Show them your electronic travel QR code - they will cross-compare it with what you say.
- Don't lie about restricted foods such as fresh fruits or meats. Customs inspection is very strict. If they find undeclared items, you will be fined.
6. Post-Arrival
- You can go now! Call a taxi, Grab (the Philippine version of Uber), or take the airport shuttle to your accommodation. Visitors do not need to register separately.
- If you need to stay longer than the time permitted by the stamp on your passport (and you meet the requirements), you can extend your stay at the immigration office in major cities such as Manila or Cebu.

The place is very accessible and convenient since it is near almost everything. Most of the staff were kind, hospitable, and accommodating, which we appreciated.
However, during our check-in, the receptionist on duty lacked proper assistance and explanation. While we were carrying our belongings and trying to figure out where the elevator was, she was busy talking and laughing with her co-worker. We were not informed properly about how to bring our things to the room, so the experience felt unprofessional at that moment.

The Manila Hotel has an old but elegant and luxurious style. Marble and stone finishing, tall ceilings and a grand piano at the back with a musician playing pleasant music greets you as you walk through the entrance.
Lacking points from my personal experience:
1. The carpet floors need to be replaced. I had to change rooms because the first room I got had an unpleasant smell to it (they quickly changed my room after I went to the reception, so it wasn't terrible) and although I didn't notice until the end of my stay, the new room's carpet was frayed at the edges.
2. The night mode of the lights (many switches) completely cuts power to the power outlets. I didn't know and ended up waking up to a phone and power bank with a dying battery and needing to stay in the hotel a couple of hours until they finished charging. Maybe just a warning in the future?
The good parts:
1. The service! People are SO accommodating, pleasant and efficient. Reception staff, waiters, bell boys and basically everyone greets you with a smile and tries to solve any problems with utmost focus and cordiality.
2. Traditional pride. Traditional fashion exhibition at the front was a great touch to my visit. The whole place (restaurants, pools, spa, rooms, etc) add to the experience. I could have stayed in the hotel and felt like I hadn't missed Manila's charm.
3. Excellent location. I realised early on that I could literally see every single thing from my ”1 day tour of Manila” from my hotel room. Nothing says great location like this.FromMXN1,652

I traveled to the Philippines to visit relatives. It was my mother's birthday, so we stayed in Manila. Whenever I stayed in Manila, I always stayed at the Philippine Plaza, but as soon as I found out it had closed, I started looking for a hotel. My requirements were that it be located on Roxas Boulevard, have good access to the airport and tourist attractions, and have good security. After searching and reading reviews, I decided that this hotel was ideal. I arrived early in the morning by overnight bus, but they kindly allowed me to leave my luggage before check-in and go out for breakfast. They also made arrangements to ensure a smooth check-in. I had mentioned in advance that it was my mother's birthday, and unexpectedly, a lovely birthday cake was waiting in our room. The room was clean, and the front desk staff provided wonderful service with smiles before, during, and after check-in. However, I was disappointed by the manners and attitude of some guests. Dogs were roaming freely in the restaurant and near the front desk (the website I checked said that pets were not allowed, but the hotel actually allowed them). There were also people walking down the corridors soaking wet. The most shocking thing was that, although we know it was our mistake, my mother's coat, which she had left near the front desk, went missing. It was an expensive coat that she cherished. My mother, myself, and everyone traveling with us remembered losing the coat at the hotel, so we checked with the staff multiple times, but it couldn't be found. It was almost certainly stolen inside the hotel. I don't know if they checked the security camera footage. I have stayed at famous hotels in the Philippines, such as the Philippine Plaza and the Manila Hotel, and five-star hotels in various countries, but frankly speaking, this is not a five-star hotel. We booked a Deluxe Room with a king-size bed at Manila Prince Hotel for our 3rd wedding anniversary celebration (3D2N) for 2 adults and 1 toddler.
First of all, I'm grateful that I found a great deal through Trip.com, almost 50% off with breakfast included!
As I've mentioned in a previous review for another hotel, I'm generally not a fan of older hotels. However, Manila Prince Hotel pleasantly surprised me. The property is very well maintained and has an excellent location, with popular attractions such as the National Museum, Rizal Park, Fort Santiago, and even Chinatown nearby.
What stood out to me the most:
The Service
The staff were amazing! Everyone was attentive, courteous, and pleasant, from the guards and concierge to the receptionists and room service staff. I could tell they are well-trained and professional. Special shoutout to Sir Ivan for taking such good care of us and even taking the time to play a little with our son. You truly made our day!
Another thing I appreciated was how accommodating they were. I needed a needle and thread to sew a piece of clothing, and they were able to provide it promptly.
The Buffet Breakfast
There were plenty of options, everything we tried was delicious, and it offered great value for the price.
The Room
The room is definitely old, but it was clean and came with complete amenities. I also appreciated the complimentary items provided, such as bottled water, coffee, and tea, which made our stay even more comfortable.
One thing I would suggest to management is to gradually replace some of the older fixtures and items that are already showing signs of wear. For example, the bathroom rubber mat had some mold spots, likely due to moisture, and the toilet paper holder had a bit of rust.

I recently stayed at City Garden Suites and would like to share both a commendation and some constructive feedback regarding my experience.
First, I would like to highly commend Ms. Zsan for her outstanding service. After being assigned to a room that, while clean, had an unpleasant odor, I approached the front desk again for assistance. Ms. Zsan handled the situation with genuine care and professionalism. She went beyond simply checking the system—she actively coordinated with housekeeping via radio to personally verify room availability. Her initiative, attentiveness, and willingness to help truly define excellent customer service. She made us feel heard and valued, and her dedication reflects the kind of frontline service that leaves a lasting positive impression.
On the other hand, I would like to offer constructive feedback regarding my experience with Ms. Acel. As a guest, first impressions matter, and my initial interaction with her during check-in was not very reassuring. When I inquired about the possibility of being assigned to a newly renovated room, I was informed that none were available, without much effort to further check or explore options. This gave me the impression that my request was not fully considered.
The following day, when I needed to extend my stay, I spoke with her over the phone and requested an update regarding my concern, emphasizing the urgency as I needed to secure the current room rate online. However, after waiting for around 30 minutes without any callback, I had to follow up myself. During the follow-up, she asked for details I had already communicated earlier, which made it seem like the information was not properly noted or attended to.
On the third day, I needed to extend my booking again. To avoid the same experience, I went directly to the front desk. Unfortunately, she was again the one available. Despite my previous experience, I still chose to give her another chance, hoping for a better interaction. However, the experience remained the same. Because of this, instead of extending my stay further, I decided to transfer to another hotel.
I hope this feedback is received constructively. Frontline staff play a crucial role in shaping the overall guest experience. While Ms. Zsan demonstrated exceptional service and professionalism, there is an opportunity for improvement in consistency, attentiveness, and proactive assistance. We stayed for one night. When I booked the room, it clearly indicated that the maximum capacity was 3 people, and my booking was for 3 guests. The breakfast was also indicated as being for 3 people. However, the booking stated that we could check with the hotel upon arrival if the additional person would be free of charge or subject to an extra fee. I honestly wouldn’t have minded paying for an extra person’s breakfast.
However, when we arrived at the hotel and were checking in, I was charged for the third person, even though my booking clearly indicated 3 guests. Apparently, the third person was not included in the amount I paid through Trip.com. It was a bit confusing because what was indicated on the app did not seem to match the actual booking at the hotel. It clearly showed that my reservation was for 3 people.
Anyway, we were already there, so there was nothing much I could do except not let it ruin our mood because we just wanted to relax.
Now, when we entered the room, the TV was another issue. Almost none of the channels were watchable because the signal was so poor. It felt like we had to search for a signal just to get a clear picture. Nakakaloka! Thankfully, the Wi-Fi worked, and I was able to connect my Apple TV, so at least we were still able to watch something.
Another thing happened when my companion accidentally dropped their charger. When they looked under the bed, they found two oranges that seemed to have been left behind by the previous guest. That made us wonder if the rooms were being cleaned properly. There were also no power outlets near the bed and no outlet in the bathroom for a hair dryer, which was quite inconvenient.
As for breakfast, it was ₱799 per person. But the options were quite limited: rice, eggs, hotdog, corned beef, potato wedges, two kinds of fruit—papaya and watermelon—pandesal, and sliced bread. At one point, the bread almost caused their microwave to catch fire! They also had coffee and juice.
I was honestly disappointed because, considering the price, I expected more. For the same price, you can find all-you-can-eat breakfast options with a much wider variety of food.
In terms of service, though, the staff were very nice and helpful. That’s something I really can’t complain about.
The hotel itself is already quite old. I understand that it may be considered affordable, but even if the hotel is old, I still hoped that the overall experience would feel worth the price. For me, the breakfast was definitely not worth ₱799 per person.
For comparison, Manila Prince Hotel, which is more affordable than Bayview, exceeded my expectations. The hotel is also quite old, but the quality of their service—especially the breakfast—is on a completely different level.
Anyway, we still enjoyed our stay because we were there to relax and spend time together. But would I book again? Probably not, unless I really need to stay there because of its location and accessibility to the places I need to go.FromMXN594

The experience of being able to see tropical fish from inside the room was truly special and wonderful! It was also a big plus that we could stay indoors without needing the air conditioning, even though it was hot outside. We were told the tank lights would be off from 9:15 PM to 6:15 AM and curtains would be drawn for cleaning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, but this was not actually the case.

It's a 30-minute Grab ride from the airport if there's no traffic. The hotel is in a historical building, and you can really feel its grandeur in the lobby, hallways, and staircases. However, while it's near the coast, the surrounding area isn't very clean, so I wouldn't recommend walking around. A 5-minute Grab ride to Robinson Place will get you everything you need: a supermarket, a drugstore, and restaurants. We booked a suite room here because we had our wedding preparations at this hotel five years ago, and we expected the same quality of service and experience. Unfortunately, it feels very different now compared to before.
Last night, there were two people sleeping in the lobby who did not appear to be hotel guests. We were wondering why they were allowed to stay there, as we understood that the lobby is intended for hotel guests.
Additionally, the towels in our room appeared old and worn out. Overall, we believe that the cleanliness and security of the hotel should be reviewed and improved.
There was also a drunk individual outside the 7-Eleven last night who was saying things to us, which made us feel scared and uncomfortable. Although the staff did ask him to leave, we still would have appreciated an apology regarding the incident.

I was so disappointed. The shower host from the bathroom was defective but in fairness it was repaired on the 2nd day midnight. And also no rubber bathroom mat (since the bathroom floor tiles is slippery) . They only produce the mat after my sister a pwd has warned them for any accident that she may incurred the front desk will be responsible. While the water heater is not 24 hours based on their post. Water heater resume on my 3rd day stay. The four treadmills at the gym are also not working it is all under maintenance.

Booked this hotel for one night. Overall, it was okay, but nothing special. The room actually looked different from the photos on Trip. There was no soap in the room, or the dispenser wasn't working. The AC was noisy, but it was very stuffy without it. There's a window. The bed was a bit hard, and there was no duvet, just some kind of blanket without a cover. On the plus side, good water pressure, running water, and two towels. The staff were generally friendly; they stored our luggage after check-out and covered it with a net. The overall place is decent, however, the linen cover seems to have already been used due to its pungent odour. Every time we asked for room service, it just made the whole room smell worse as the mop used to clean the room likely had not been changed or cleaned. There was even a time when the cleaner took the money that had been left out in the open by the table, although we were going to tip anyway, it is just concerning that they’d take whatever money’s left out without having prior knowledge of whether the money is going to be given. Our stay at this hotel was overall average. There are few areas that need improvement. The carpet was not clean, which made the space feel less comfortable and not maintained as expected. Cleanliness is very important to guest.
Additionally, the breakfast buffet did not offer many choices. The selection was quiet limited.

The staff were extremely accommodating,helpful and friendly which was great. They offered a morning breakfast which was really appetising! Another big plus was the spacious room which made our stay very comfortable. Just the bed mattress was old and didn’t offer much support (had problems sleeping and experienced back pain) as well the location wasn’t ideal for my partner and I who enjoy roaming around on foot. Didnt feel safe and was very dirty outside. Another positive, it’s a stone throw away from the large Robinson’s Mall which was great too!FromMXN337

Beautiful Art Deco building rooted in century-old history.
While updates have been done to the rooms, Unfortunately, the elevator was not working during my stay (30-31 May 2026), and the toilet flush did not work. Staff were accommodating, gave a pail and dipper (tabo) combo for the toilet. Relatively room did not smell old or damp. I booked a fan room and checked in at 2 PM. The staff asked if I wanted to pay extra to upgrade to an air-conditioned room. Only after they showed me the rooms did I understand why. The fan rooms face west and get blasted by the afternoon sun, while the air-conditioned rooms are situated where they don't get direct sunlight. This comparison pretty much forces you to pay for the upgrade, as the fan simply can't compete with that intense heat. It feels like this is their business strategy, a veiled way to charge more, especially since other places offer AC rooms at this price point.FromMXN84

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the old town. You can walk to all the attractions, so I can overlook the outdated decor. The service was impeccable, definitely living up to its star rating. My only minor complaint is that after I showered, I realized there were no slippers in the room.
