Hangzhou Weather - Best Time to Visit HangzhouHangzhou has a subtropical monsoon climate which means four distinct seasons with wet and hot summers, and cold and cloudy winters. With summer lasting from June to September, the hottest month is July when the temperature could reach 33°C (91°F). Late June to early July is the rainy period (Plum Rain Season) when the air is humid, and rainfall increases significantly. Later on, in August and September, another heavy rainfall season will arrive with potential typhoons. Winter in Hangzhou is between December and February, the temperature at times plunges to 0 °C (33 °F) in the coldest month January. Hence weather-wise, the best times to visit Hangzhou is Spring or Fall when it is generally sunny, cool, and dry.Due to the pleasant weather, Spring and Fall are the peak tourist seasons in Hangzhou. Also, Spring is the best time to view peach, plum, and cherry blossoms. People rush to the city’s West Lake, hills, and parks to enjoy the great outdoors. Beside Spring and Fall, other peak times for Hangzhou are national holiday periods when millions of domestic tourists tend to descend on the city. To avoid extreme crowds, pick your dates carefully. Three days in Hangzhou, and now I finally understand why it has been called “Paradise on Earth” for centuries. My journey began at West Lake, where willow trees sway gently over emerald waters and elegant stone bridges seem to belong in a Chinese painting. Whether cruising across the lake or strolling along Su Causeway, every corner felt effortlessly beautiful.IN77 buzzed with modern energy, atypical of shopping malls. As night fell, Hangzhou revealed a different side, while Wulin Night Market came alive with street food, and the irresistible aroma of local snacks—a perfect blend of old and new.The next day, I wandered through Hefang Street, where traditional architecture and centuries of history transport you back to ancient Hangzhou. The evening ended with West Lake Impression, a breathtaking outdoor performance where water, music, and light transform the lake itself into a stage. My final day was perhaps the most memorable. Nestled among forested hills, Lingyin Temple and Feilai Peak offered a peaceful escape filled with ancient grottoes, incense, and quiet reflection. To end the journey, I experienced 杭州宮宴 (Hangzhou Gongyan), an immersive Han culture food theatre combining exquisite cuisine, elegant dance, and storytelling. It felt less like dinner and more like stepping into a living history book.Hangzhou isn’t just a city—it’s poetry in motion, where nature, culture, and history blend seamlessly together. Three days barely scratched the surface, but they were enough to leave me wanting to return.📍Highlights:West Lake • IN77 • Wulin Night Market • Hefang Street • West Lake Impression • Lingyin Temple • Feilai Peak • 杭州宮宴#Hangzhou #WestLake #ChinaTravel #HangzhouGongyan #TravelChina

Graduation trips are the brightest memories of youth. My best friends and I saved up our allowance, squeezed onto trains, stayed in budget guesthouses, shared a bed and chatted all night, took silly group photos at tourist attractions, and laughed more than anyone else while trying to save money on street food. We saw the same scenery, braved the same downpours, and shouted our hopes for the future together from the mountaintop. These crazy days together have become warm memories that I'll never forget.

The lake is very large. We arrived on a dusty day, so the sky wasn't very clear. There were many activities to do, including boat trips, dressing up in traditional Chinese costumes for photos, and strolling around.

I'd long heard the saying, "Of the thirty-six West Lakes in the world, Hangzhou's is the best," but only after experiencing it firsthand did I truly understand the weight of that statement. In spring, strolling slowly along the Su Causeway, peach and willow trees line both banks, and a gentle breeze sends petals falling into the lake, creating delicate ripples. Standing on the Broken Bridge, gazing at Leifeng Pagoda, the misty willows shroud the lake's surface, and the distant mountains appear as pale ink tones. Even sitting casually on a bench, feeling the breeze, is incredibly comforting. Renting a small boat and drifting to the center of the lake, the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon stone pagoda stands serenely in the middle, making even your breathing slow down. There's no overly commercialized crowds, only the timeless poetic charm of Jiangnan, well worth taking your time to explore.

I've loved traveling for so many years, not to show off where I've been, but simply because I love the feeling of being refreshed each time I return. I leave my bad moods behind on the road and fill my pockets with fresh joy. Every journey is a mini-escape, and every return is a fresh start. Having seen more of the world, my heart is filled with more scenery, and I face life's storms with more composure and courage. This is the best gift travel has given me.

You absolutely must take a guided boat inside, as you can't explore the whole area on foot. It's best suited for those who enjoy nature and leisurely walks. If you visit around the time of the Dragon Boat Festival, you'll see people practicing dragon boat racing. Hefang Street is rather uniform and commercialized; you can just take a look around.

It's a great place to stroll. There's lots of greenery and ponds. They're called swamps here. Birds are singing, and fish are swimming in the pond. It's a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Feilai Peak Scenic Area is amazing, the craftsmanship can be seen for the different dynasties.Highly recommended to go with a guide to explain for better understanding. The temples are historical with beautiful architecture. Though it is quite crowded.I went before 8am and managed to enjoy the Feilai Peak scenic area with lesser crowd.By 10am the crowd starts to increase.I’ll recommend wearing a pair of comfortable sneakers as the grottoes might be a little slippery.
