We visited Manila Ocean Park and had a great time, especially enjoying the sea lion and bird shows. The performances were entertaining and engaging, showcasing the animals beautifully. However, we were disappointed to find that when we wanted to take a picture with the sea lion, they only accepted cash for the photo opportunity. This was frustrating, as we had expected to use our card for payment. It would be great if they could offer more payment options in the future.Overall, while we had fun and appreciated the shows, the payment issue put a damper on our experience. I hope they consider making it more convenient for guests in the future.

Manila Ocean Park: Hours, Location, and How to Get There

Manila Ocean Park is located on the historic Manila Bay, adjacent to the famous Rizal Park. Here's some useful information to ensure you have a great time.

  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Weekends and public holidays: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Location benefits: Located in the historic center of Manila, just a few minutes' drive from Intramuros, the Spanish capital.
  • Transportation: Grab App is the preferred choice; a ride from the airport or Makati costs approximately $6-10.

Tips for U.S visitors

  1. We recommend visiting the indoor aquarium area before noon and then watching the semi-outdoor sea lion show in the afternoon.
  2. Please allow enough time for transportation.
  3. There is an ATM at the entrance; please have small change ready.

How to Buy Manila Ocean Park Tickets?

At Manila Ocean Park, queuing to buy tickets on-site is generally not a good idea—especially on weekends. Furthermore, full-price tickets purchased on-site are usually the most expensive.

If you want to save time queuing and, incidentally, the cost of lunch, I recommend booking online in advance.

Why do I recommend Trip.com?

  • Better prices: Often there are exclusive discounts, making it significantly cheaper than buying on-site.
  • Instant booking: Many times you can even place your order on your way to the park entrance.
  • All-English interface: Avoids the payment failures or language misunderstandings that can occur with local websites.

Ticket Purchase Steps

Book Manila Ocean Park tickets on Trip.com for better deals
  1. Purchase Package: Open the Trip.com App or Trip.com website and search for “Manila Ocean Park”. Choose the package with the most attractions; the price difference is small, but the experience is more complete.
  2. Payment and Confirmation: Pay directly with your credit card or PayPal. After successful payment, you will receive a voucher with a QR code in your email.
  3. Entry Method: Once at the park, do not queue at the regular ticket windows. Go directly to the “Online Reservation” counter at the main entrance or the dedicated ticket exchange counter, show the QR code on your phone, and scan it to exchange for a wristband.

Top Attractions at Manila Ocean Park: What to See and Do

Manila Ocean Park offers many attractions, but not all of them are worth your time. To help you focus your energy, here are some carefully selected recommendations for the core attractions.

Key Features

Pro Tip for U.S. Visitors

Oceanarium

A stunning 180-foot curved underwater walkway featuring sharks and giant rays.

The must-see centerpiece. Go early in the morning for the best lighting and fewer crowds.

Trails to Antarctica

A "polar" exhibit where you can feed penguins and even try a real ice slide.

Bring a light hoodie. The temperature drop is massive, and it’s a refreshing break from the heat.

Sea Lion Show

An outdoor performance showcasing the intelligence of sea lions.

It’s an open-air stadium. Bring a fan and a bottle of water; the afternoon sun can be intense.

Jellies Exhibit

A mesmerizing room of glowing jellyfish set to soothing music and neon lights.

Pure relaxation. This is the quietest spot in the park and perfect for "zen" photos.

Symphony Evening Show

A multimedia display featuring water fountains, lasers, and lights.

Only happens in the evening. Great if you’re staying for sunset, otherwise, it’s skippable.

Creepy Crawlies

An exhibit of unique insects, amphibians, and reptiles native to the Philippines.

Great for those interested in the "exotic" side of Southeast Asian wildlife.

Dining at Manila Ocean Park: Where to Eat?

You'll definitely get hungry after playing. While Manila Ocean Park isn't a top-tier food center, it does offer some very convenient options.

1. Makan Makan Asian Food Village (Highly Recommended)

This is a large indoor restaurant that brings together cuisines from all over Southeast Asia (Filipino, Singaporean, Malaysian, etc.). It has strong air conditioning, a clean environment, and a very extensive menu. Try the Filipino Adobo (braised pork with soy sauce and vinegar) or Pancit (stir-fried noodles).

2. White Moon Bar (Best Sunset View)

If you stay in the park until evening, this is a great spot to watch the sunset. They offer chilled beer, cocktails, and American snacks (such as fries and chicken wings).

3. Quick Supply Stations and Food Stalls

You can find common hot dogs, popcorn, and Zagu (sago pudding/bubble tea), a very popular local drink in the Philippines.

😱 Note: Most stalls here only accept cash.

Tips When Dining at Manila Ocean Park 👍

  • We recommend having your meal around 11:30 AM, or perhaps later until 2:00 PM. The restaurants here get very crowded between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM.
  • Food inside the park is slightly more expensive than on the street.
  • Do not drink the local tap water; even in the restaurants, please order bottled water.

Best Time to Visit Manila Ocean Park

If your schedule is flexible, be sure to choose a weekday. Weekends and Philippine public holidays will be packed with local families.

Avoid March and April. These two months are summer vacation for Philippine schools.

🔥 Best months: December to February. During this time, Manila's weather is coolest and driest. Although it's peak tourist season, the weather is most comfortable.

Exploring Manila Beyond the Park: Nearby Attractions

If you get tired of Ocean Park, don't rush to call a Grab to leave. These three places are within walking or a few minutes' drive.

  • Intramuros: This is Manila's oldest district, preserving its Spanish colonial-era stone walls and streets. It's about a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute drive.
  • National Museum of Fine Arts: About a 12-minute walk. Its most famous work is *Spoliarium* (a massive, breathtaking oil painting). Best of all: admission is free, and the air conditioning is excellent! A perfect spot to escape the afternoon heat.
  • Rizal Park: Located opposite the Ocean Park entrance. A great place to observe local life. The park's musical fountain lights up in the evening.
