There's too much light inside the Observatory, so you can't see outside clearly or take a decent photo because you're always looking at the reflection of some stupid machine selling something stupid. The elevator gave everyone an earache, and it wasn't even "scenic," just a normal light with a small screen to see how many floors you were climbing per second, period. The price isn't worth the experience.

We booked our tickets on Trip.com from Russia, and honestly, we were thrilled with how seamless everything was! At the entrance, they scanned the QR code with one swipe, and we were right in. Zero hassle, maximum excitement. I definitely recommend it!

Visiting the Shanghai Tower Observatory around sunset is highly recommended. You get the best of both worlds with daylight views of the sprawling cityscape and the magical transition into night when Shanghai lights up. As the sun sets, the Sky632 Light Show becomes even more striking, highlighting the city’s skyscrapers and rivers with a vibrant glow. Arriving about 30 to 60 minutes before sunset gives you time to soak in the daylight panorama, take photos, and then enjoy the dazzling evening lights as the city transforms. It is truly one of the most memorable ways to experience Shanghai from above.
