The park is quite large, and it gets very crowded even on Fridays. Some rides have a 50-minute wait. The food in the park is expensive, but overall it's worth a visit.

If you come in Dec, not too crowded, we manage to take all the key rides without buying any express ticket. We completed everything around 5.30pm. The only problem is very cold.

  • 24/240 China Visa-Free Transit: US citizens can stay up to 240 hours in 54 Chinese cities without a China visa when transiting.
  • China Plug & Power: China plug uses Type A/C/F (220V). Bring a Type A/C adapter (US plugs sometimes work, but bring a universal adapter for safety).

Getting Around & Top Destinations in China

Must-Have Apps in China

  • China Map App: I love to use Gaode Map (English supported) or Baidu Map (limited English) for real-time transit and traffic. Or you can still use Google Maps in China, but some data may be outdated.
  • China Transport App: Use DiDi (China's Uber) for English address input and cashless payment. I recommend to use the DiDi mini-program in Alipay for more convenience.
  • China Payment App: Use Alipay or WeChat Pay (link foreign cards before arrival).
  • China Booking App: Trip.com for high-speed trains (China HSR Guide), China hotels/flights. Use Trip.com promo codes for USA users.

FAQs – Universal Studios Beijing Guide

  • Is it worthwhile to visit Universal Studios Beijing?

Yes, it is highly recommended, particularly for those who enjoy theme parks. Tourists laud its immersive attractions, such as The Wizarding World of Harry PotterTM and Jurassic World Adventure, describing it as "definitely worth a trip" and "an easy must-do if you're visiting Beijing."
  • How many days are needed to visit Beijing's Universal Studios?

For most first-time visitors, one full day is usually enough if you use an Express Pass or go on off-peak days. A 1.5 to 2-day visit is best, though, if you want to take your time exploring everything, including shows, meet-and-greets, restaurants, and rides.
  • How does Beijing's Universal Express operate?

During your visit, Universal Express enables you to enter a priority line at participating rides and bypass standard lines. In addition to park entry, it is offered in tiers (such as packages of three or five attractions). Passes are non-transferable and date-specific. Travelers' helpful advice: Purchases must be made within fifteen days of your stay. Express is not unlimited like other parks; unless it's a part of a VIP package, each included ride is only good for one pass. Customers value the balance: Because Universal Beijing doesn't oversell passes and express lines move considerably more quickly, lineups are kept efficient.
