Fujiya Hotel

Kowakidani/Miyanoshita Hakone|4.55km from city center
This hotel is a historic property set in an iconic setting. We stayed in the Forest Section which features large, comfortable rooms that were a little dark, the bathroom lighting could be improved. Here is my issue. We arrived around 1:15 and we’re told that we could check in at 3:00. We had lunch in their cafe ( 50$) and asked again about an hour later if we could have early access. The very polite desk clerk replied “ Yes, for $70 dollars “. Astounded , I countered that we were departing early 2 days later, and he reduced the amount to $35. Now here is where communication becomes an issue: I continued the “are you kidding me?” and he kept bowing. I thought the issue was settled. That night and the next we ate at their lovely restaurants, French and the Cascade. Food and service was superb. With wine we spent about $900. Check out was early, and my husband didn’t really examine the bill. When we were back in our free early access room in Tokyo I noticed the $35 charge. I contacted the hotel’s customer service and they confirmed the charge. So, what about customer hospitality? I have NEVER been charged an early access fee for an hour. They have been times when we patiently waited for a room to be readied, and never demanded a rebate. It is all part of the guest/host agreement, I think this is probably a corporate decision by the Fujiya Group. Rethink your mission, guys, make guests feel wanted!

Hakone Suishoen

Style. Taisho era traditional onsen Setting. Hakone Suishoen is a cultural property that belonged to the Mitsui family, built 1925 Explore. Hakone. Was here late October, Hakone is a beautiful area and it is almost autumn foliage season Rooms. 23 rooms on the property surrounded by old maple trees and bamboos. Two beds in room Hananome. Sisley amenities. Large shower area that steps out into the outdoor onsen which faces the trees, found it to be truly restorative as I felt a bit beaten down when I arrived. Complimentary mini bar (except for the champagne and Macallan). Dark wood furnishings in my room looked dated and room had very little windows and natural light @ the hotel. great service throughout my stay, although strange to be served welcome tea in a paper cup. Didn’t try the public onsen. High quality souvenirs in the restaurant and lobby shop. Meals in the gorgeous historic Mitsui property Food and drinks Excellent traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast in a private room in the historic Mitsui residence (aka restaurant Momiji). Built 1925 but still comfortable (ie floor heating) I was in Japan for three nights and while this was not a Michelin restaurant ( tried a few during this trip ), dinner here was my favorite and my comfort food. I kept on thinking about how food is functional medicine and this place hit the spot Prices. Moderate $662 as included a delicious dinner and breakfast Rating. 4/5 ( everything was perfect except for the welcome drink in a paper cup and my room’s decor/lighting )

The trip I was looking forward to was ruined....Unfortunately, I can't recommend it at all‼️ The washbasin in the room is narrow and the water is bad as in the review of other people, I used the shared space outside the room. The staff at that time was also ..... About the meal that is also a pleasure of the trip 1, the service is not smooth, and when is the next dish? I was worried about the time to wait between the dishes and the dishes. I feel that the quality of the service needs to be improved. The only salvation is that the taste of the meal was delicious. I think there are not many people who visit even in the corona pass because it is a land pattern called Hakone and a tourist destination. Also, if it becomes a bustling situation like before, I think that many tourists visit, but from many accommodations, I choose your accommodation and pay the price and look forward to the trip I want you to remember that. (This time, it was good to come! I want to stay here again! It was a good trip! It became a place that I didn't think it was a good trip!) It was a plan for a long time travel under the situation that I couldn't go out easily. I was going to research and decide on the homepage when I decided to stay. I feel a nice taste in the homepage photograph, and I am not really sorry for the actual gap between the photograph and the quality of the service. Each person who visits by sightseeing seems to have been good to stay here, improved customer service that does not betray expectations, and improved including maintenance of facilities I hope you don't think like us.

I stayed on January 5 day as last year. The room is a low-rise room as usual. The lower floors can see the moon, stars and the rising sun through the leaves of the garden tree 々. The upper floors are not disturbed by the trees 々 and you can enjoy the surrounding mountains 々 landscape. 4 I have never stayed above the floor, but I think the scenery on the lower floors in winter is lonely and Qing 々. I don't think I'll come again if my first stay was the mountain side room I saw on YouTube. After spring, it has a hot spring inn in the forest in the leaves of the tree 々, and it has a different taste, but I like winter. This time, when I changed the iPhone to a new model, I was able to take a good picture of the garden and the stars at night. Overall, I am satisfied with the same wonderfulness. If I dare to say something I was interested in, I take pictures of the meal every time, but the tea confectionery at the reception was the same as last year (of course I am satisfied). I requested the size of the clothes in the building in advance and prepared it. Is not small, and last year there was nothing to wear on the clothes in the hall like a vest (I don't know what to say) (because it looks like a farmer?), The maximum size of the clothes I bought at the shop last year is pink-colored building I bought an inner dress, but the inner dress prepared in the room was the same white gray? (Since it was the same color last year, it may be the same color even if you make a reservation for a man and woman. Or is there a number depending on the size?) The same was true when I stayed at another hotel in Hakone Yumoto at the end of the year, but the dinner dishes were served. , From last year, I felt that it was small or the amount was small. Compared to the photos when I stayed last year, I really get worried. I was worried that the food would be smaller as the room rate was rising from last year. The good thing was that the staff at various places were as good as ever. There were many non-al drinks beside the elevator. There was a low evaluation on SNS in advance, but it is true that there are customers, but there are staff who are dissatisfied with colleagues in a low voice, or the number of staff at the restaurant is narrowed. Is it , I couldn't come immediately after pressing the doorbell button, but it was acceptable to me. I've never seen it like I was on SNS here. I wanted to use it in the future. Finally, I bought it here last year, but I can't wear it because it seems to be ”stealed” at the same Kyoritsu resort, but I used it at other hotels and was popular with foreign tourists. It is often used when staying at other hot spring inns. I would like you to always have various sizes of colors. The next time I stay, I would like to buy it if there is a color for overseas souvenirs.

Fufu Hakone

Fufu Hakone

Gora/Sengokuhara Hakone|6.5km from city center
My wife did all the Hakone Hotel research and was impressed with FuFu. I thought it was pricey but after our stay it was well worth it. The hotel was located a short drive from the train station and felt very secluded and surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens. We arrived early and were able to drop off our bags and head out for a day of sightseeing. There was no problems driving us back and forth to the station. Checkin was very personalized and escorted to our room where everything was clearly explained. Our room was large and came fully stocked with all amenities, drinks and of course the in room onsen. The onsen was quite large and the prefect temp for multiple soaks during our stay. While the water source is different than the main hotel onsen, we appreciated not having to go anywhere and just be able to jump in anytime. Room ambiance was modern and cozy. Very comfortable beds. A nice couch in front of the TV. Any room request was handled very discreetly through the cupboard by the front door. Just press a button and our dinner selections were picked up but there was no notification when our newspaper or slippers were delivered. Staff service was impressive and we found it easy to communicate in English with various staff. We were always greeted anywhere on the property, meal service was timely and every dish explained to us, and even our drop off back at the train station went above (carried our heavy suitcases down and back up to the other side of the tunnel). Both dinner and breakfast were some of the best meals we experienced in Japan. Every selection was well prepared, presentation was beautiful and delicious. Definitely an elevated Japanese dining experience and complemented our stay. We definitely left relaxed, bellies full and had a very positive experience. We are seriously considering staying at another FuFu during our next Japan trip.

Deyama Railway Bridge

Ryokan Motoyu Kansuiro

Hakone Yumoto Hakone|0.58km from Deyama Railway Bridge
My wife and I stayed at the ryokan as part of our tour of Japan. Having experienced ultra modern hotels in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto, we were keen to sample a traditional Japanese inn. We had a suite of rooms with a private onsen and rockery type garden, which was lovely. Despite being very old (I understand the current building is 100 years old), the suite had modern facilities such as air conditioning, a washlet toilet, sink and shower (as part of the onsen). It also had a mini bar. A drinks list is provided with dinner and the prices seemed reasonable. The set-up is very traditional and in stark contrast to the modern hotels, the staff did not speak much English. They do not help with luggage forwarding (the other hotels were very helpful with Yamato paperwork!) Therefore if you are staying here for a night or two as part of a tour, consider taking an overnight bag and forward your luggage from the hotel you are at beforehand to the hotel you’ll ultimately be staying at, or make sure you book Shinkansen seats with luggage space. We had to take a trip back to Odawara station where a helpful JR rep changed our seat bookings for the onward trip, but this took up time we could have spent exploring the area. The downsides are the hotel is old and feels old (a somewhat musty smell pervaded the place). We saw no other guests and it was very quiet. The meal arrangements are quite strict- dinners and breakfasts are served at the prescribed times on the dot but the tea arrived a few minutes early so make sure you are up and dressed in good time. We were attended by a very pleasant and hard working young lady throughout. The dinners were very elaborate and of good quality (the best miso soup we tasted during our trip). If you are used to a bowl of muesli, slice of toast or a croissant for breakfast, the large Japanese breakfast will come as a shock. Being full from the previous night’s dinners, we were unable to finish them, and some dishes were just a bit too adventurous for 8 in the morning. On the whole, a good experience for a night or two.

If you read this word of mouth, there seems to be a lot of pros and cons 々. Certainly, the inn is old and old, but the nostalgic atmosphere is liked with a feeling that it is not tasted in a new hotel. Well, for my house, it is the first favorite hot spring in recent years and has been used several times. I enjoyed the meal with the intention every time. This time the tea bowl steamed soup was delicious 〜. I want to bring back the mustard sauce that was on the meat in a bottle. When I put it in my mouth, there are many things that I think ”ah, this”, so the time of meal is always fun. The color derived from the literary master 々 is also enjoying while thinking about reading the novel. The hot spring is also good in the quality of the spring and the skin is smooth. This time it was a midwinter stay, so I was worried that it was cold such as the room and the corridor, but it was a worry. The ice of hot water service eaten in other rooms was delicious. I also put it in the photograph, but there is a free raw beer on the hot water, and ice and beer are delicious. It is perfect for the time of the sloppy time on the trip. The staff of the inn also moved finely while reducing the contact with the customer, and there was no point to worry about. The foreigner who received the reception also worked hard to remember Japanese and worked hard, and it was cute and hard 〜 while cheering in my heart I felt warm. If you have a little regret, do you care about the bad reputation or did you feel like the staff was scrambled? It's okay. Please take confidence and take care of your customers. Nice stab It is an inn with a lot of fu. I feel that the education of the inn is always updated. I think it's hard in a world of change, but I feel that I'm working hard on old education and new customer service. Please continue to work hard with the new and old.

First of all, it is embarrassing to have been guided to the 3rd floor of the building only by stairs. It is inconvenient to go to the bath, and the handrail on the stairs from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor is not installed on the left side when going down, which is dangerous. refrigerator. Small items include alcohol and mineral water. In the freezer at the top of the same warehouse, there was leftover food from the ice cream monaka of a guest who had stayed there before (I clapped my hands and laughed). I wonder if you understand Japanese. When I was let through the room, I gave an elderly woman (Japanese woman) a gift, but the Chinese woman did not thank me until the next morning. The person at the counter must be Japanese, after all. I was whispering. I wondered if I should say that to the customer. In the morning, while I was waiting for breakfast at the table after raising the futon, a centipede started walking on the tatami mats. I exterminated it and left it on the tatami mat, but the Chinese waitress pretended not to see it. Way to go. Originally it is a dried fish shop, but it seems that the inn business is being forced. Even if you are guided to the parking lot, weeds grow as much as you want. I should have parked in the paid parking lot. About 3 hours after checking out, when I was on my way home, I received a call on my cell phone asking if the room key had been returned. Great phone call with. The young proprietress appears in the media and seems to be doing her best, but she doesn't come to the counter. . I don't know. Even if the food and bath (small and dirty) are good, it will have to be rated low.

Lake Ashi
Right next to lake Ashi the hotel boasts very good views and location. The food we had was very good but we were part of a coach trip so the menu was tailored to us. The breakfast was however a delightful surprise as it was better than expected. The staff were as always for Japan very pleasant and accommodating. The morning presented us with great pictures of Lake Ashi with Mount Fuji in the background.

The word of mouth of the famous travel site was good, the point of the site was stored, and it was sold at the sale price, so I decided here without much investigation. In a word, it is an inn operated by foreigners. The administrator is Japanese, but I only saw foreigners, so I thought the operation was a foreigner. Cleaning rooms and baths, replenishment of room fixtures, etc.々, I felt that I didn't reach the level that Japanese people expected. The location is not the Kora station, which can be said to be a relay point, and 2 station is the nearest station from there, but about 5 − 10 minutes walk from the station. It is close enough to walk. However, in front of the inn, there are many steep slopes, and there are many stairs in the inn, and it is better to avoid those who are weak in foot and waist. The meal is not luxurious. Because it was a stay at a sale price, there is no dissatisfaction with the meal that matches the price. It was good to be able to choose the breakfast time at 8:30 or 8:30. In the morning and evening, it was a private room on the main building 2 floor. The digging type, the air conditioner is incorporated into the wall instead of the ceiling, and the height is the waist position, so the person sitting in the back is hit by the cold wind on the waist. Cold or pregnant women should bring scrolls so that they do not cool their waist. The bath used the main building both the night of the arrival and the morning of the departure day (because it was troublesome to leave the building and cross the road once I thought that the annex Sakura Tei would like to use it). I never met a person. After all, is there a lot of people using the annex? I was reading a bad comment about the bathtub, so I just took a shower and didn't catch the bathtub. Surely the hot water was not overflowing from the bathtub. There are towels 2 types, yukata, toothbrush, razor, and com in the room. It was written that it would cost if you wanted to add it. This is the first time I have stayed in this place, is this the present age? There are washbasins, dryers, hand wash, mini refrigerator, hot water drinks and cups in the room. I asked for replenishment because the coffee and tea pack were replenished and forgotten. The vending machine water is 230 yen, and canned beer 350ml is 350 yen.

We stayed two nights in this onsen hotel. It was a fantastic experience. We drove down to the hotel. It’s not difficult to find the hotel if you follow the GPS, despite its a bit far from other crowded area. Dinner and breakfast were superb. Sake was nice as well. Male and female onsen won’t swap as I guess the onsen is literally the same. Everything is nicely maintained in the hotel. It’s a fantastic getaway. The hotel is next to golf course so the view of the hotel rooms are the green. As a golfer I prefer natural view rather than trimmed golf course but anyway it’s very refreshing to see the view when blinders off. Once again, it’s a very nice onsen hotel and I would definitely visit again in the future.

It really feels like living in my own home. The grandparents at the hotel are very kind. Although the communication is a bit difficult, the room has a small living room and bedroom. The space is quite large. Breakfast and dinner are also amazing. The location is also very close to the bus station. In short, the C P value is very high.
