Hoa Lu Hotels with Bars

A large new room with a large stained-glass window was a plus. Even though it was the last room, people were walking past and peering in. They started sweeping at 7 and woke us up, walking around the house, making noise—apparently that's how it is in Vietnam; they wake up early. It was noisy around here—there was construction on the right side, and it was loud from 8 to 10 at night. Breakfasts were made to order, and the service was polite and attentive. They showed us where to go to see the sights, and gave us water and a banana at the end.

They even sell ramen, and the salted coffee is delicious. The Korean owner recommended going on Ninh Binh's tour route #3, which was great. The ticket office is close by, and it's easy to catch a Grab. For breakfast, I only had pho, but it was perfect for a hangover.

Hotel Location: 👍On the roadside, not far from nearby attractions. Free bicycles are available for rental. Room: Comfortable and clean. Bathroom: Plenty of hot water 👍. There's a small swimming pool in front of the room. The hotel's restaurant is located by the river, with a small bridge connecting to the water. Across the river, there's a small, lush hill with beautiful scenery. Breakfast: Traditional Vietnamese drip coffee, sandwich bread, and Vietnamese pho 👍 Service was excellent 👍. The owner happily cooked two delicious dishes for dinner using the fish head we bought (for an additional fee). Their small pot rice was crispy and delicious. The Hanoi beer was excellent; we drank six bottles. Overall, a 2-day stay: 10 points of satisfaction.

A very clean and modern hotel. Beds are comfortable and the shower room is great. The hotel is located 2 minutes walk to the old town and city center. Many shops and restaurants around. The staff are kind. Highly recommend

We had a wonderful stay at The Wooden Gate! The property is absolutely beautiful, with a lovely pool and a very peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and everything freshly prepared. The location is also perfect for exploring the area. With the bicycles provided, we could easily and quickly reach Mua Cave and the Trang An boat tours. What impressed us most was the kindness and hospitality of the staff. Our children are very picky eaters, and the team even prepared special meals just for them, which we really appreciated. We felt very welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay. A beautiful place with wonderful service – we would definitely recommend The Wooden Gate!

This is a heartwarming story of a lost and found. This trip itinerary covered three places: Hanoi --＞ Ninh Binh (2.5-hour drive) Ninh Binh --＞ Ha Long (3-hour drive) Ha Long --＞ Hanoi Airport (2-hour drive) For two nights in Ninh Binh, I stayed at a place called ”Mai Luxury Hotel.” Judging by the name, it sounds grand, but in reality, it was more like a family-run, small-scale single-building guesthouse. However, the room was of 4-star hotel quality, so it was acceptable. After checking out, I had been on the way to Ha Long for about two hours when I realized I had left my Insta 360 camera in the hotel lobby. Knowing there was no way to go back and get it, I had to wait until I arrived in Ha Long before calling Mai Luxury Hotel. After confirming with them that I had indeed left it at the hotel, we started looking for a solution. Initially, they followed me on IG (their hotel IG only had 4 followers). We chatted via DM, and then they added me on WhatsApp to discuss. Originally, they wanted to find a driver that very evening to bring it to my hotel in Ha Long Bay. But because it was a holiday, they couldn't find a driver. Later, they found out I would be leaving Vietnam the next day, so they started looking for any drivers heading to the airport the following day. Not long after, they actually found a driver. They even sent me the driver's and vehicle's details. They also said they had already wrapped it up securely. At this point, I was inclined to believe they genuinely intended to return it. However, if the driver turned out to be dishonest, it could still go missing. On the final day, I arrived at the airport around 1 PM and received a message from the driver. After that, I didn't hear from him again. I grew increasingly anxious inside, thinking maybe he was still driving? Or perhaps he had already kept the camera for himself. Around 4 PM, I finally received a call from the driver. He even captured a photo of my anxious expression while waiting for him. As previously arranged with the hotel, I was to pay him 500,000 VND (about 150 HKD). At that moment, the driver actually handed me back 200,000 VND. Before I could react, he had already gotten back in his car and left. When I looked at the returned item, I could hardly believe it! The hotel had used a ”Happy New Year” bag to hold a ”Happy New Year” box. Upon opening the box, the camera was wrapped in cloth. The level of care and thoughtfulness was truly perfect. The feeling of joy from recovering something lost is truly indescribable. Of course, I wouldn't dare say that everyone in Vietnam is good, but at least on this trip, whether it was the hotpot restaurant owner, the tour guide on the boat, or the hotel staff, they all made me feel the warmth and kindness of the local people.

This hotel is one of the favorite I have stayed at ever! The location is so peaceful and perfectly located bewteen all the busy attractions. Get a scooter or bike from the hotel and enjoy all the area has to offer. The pool is very calming and clean, the rooms are great (amazing bed, shower, AC) and the breakfast loaciton is so cool. Breakfast is fantastic, best pho we have had in a long time. Even though there are so many good parts about this place, the best part of this place is the STAFF. Alex and Haa and the others felt like family, we stayed 5 days and were sad to leave!

New homestay that opened in early 2025. Father and son and his family run and maintained this cute little homestay. They're so nice and hospitable and will provide help and service at all times of the day. They provide meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, pedal bike and motorbike rentals and laundry service by the kilo. It has an amazing backdrop scenery of Trang An behind the homestay, you wouldn't want to wish for more whenever you wake up every morning here. 😀

The lady at reception was sooooo lovely!!! She has the best customer service I've ever received. We were welcomed and bought drinks and fruit. The room was new and clean, amazing view of the mountain beside the hotel as you shower with floor to ceiling windows. Everything was perfect and amazing. We are definitely going to come back to stay here someday and hopefully be greeted by the lovely host again. Thank you for such a pleasant stay! The picture is nearby the hotel. HEAVEN ON EARTH! 🌿⛰️✨ This place feels like something straight out of a dream! Surrounded by the majestic limestone mountains that Ninh Binh is famous for, this hotel is the perfect little escape if you’re looking for peace, nature, and a chance to slow down. I only stayed for one night, and honestly, I already wish I had booked more! Here’s why I loved it: 📍 Location & Atmosphere The scenery is absolutely magical. The hotel is surrounded by towering limestone mountains and lush greenery, creating such a peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve escaped into another world. It’s the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and simply enjoy being present. However, keep in mind that the location is a little secluded. The nearest restaurants are about a 5–8-minute motorbike ride away, so I’d recommend having a meal before checking in or planning your meals ahead of time. Personally, this wasn’t an issue for me because I came to Ninh Binh to explore Trang An Ecotourism and, more importantly, to enjoy some peace and quiet at the hotel. And this place delivered exactly what I was looking for! One little suggestion for the hotel, though: it would be amazing if you could sell some instant food, such as cup noodles, instant porridge, or simple snacks. Since the hotel is a little secluded, having these options available would be super convenient for guests who get hungry at night or just want a quick meal without having to leave the property. I think this small addition would make the experience even better! Honestly, just imagine spending your afternoon lounging by the pool, surrounded by those incredible mountains, with nothing urgent to do and nowhere else you need to be. That’s the kind of peace this place offers. 🌿 🛏️ Room & Cleanliness Overall, the room was comfortable and had all the essentials I needed. Some areas were a little dusty, but it didn’t bother me much or affect my overall experience. I also appreciated the thoughtful amenities they provided, including a bathrobe for swimming and even a comb. These little details made the stay more convenient and comfortable. 🫶 Service & Hospitality I was welcomed by NauDen (if I remember his name correctly), a gentleman with glasses who was incredibly friendly and helpful. He even recommended some local places to have dinner, which I really appreciated. The breakfast was also great! I especially loved that they included Vietnamese dishes, giving me the chance to enjoy local cuisine in the morning rather than just having a standard Western-style breakfast. The combination of friendly service and delicious food made the experience even better. 💰 Value for Money ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! ❤️ For me, this place is more than just a hotel. It’s an experience. You’re paying for the beautiful natural surroundings, the peaceful atmosphere, and the opportunity to disconnect from the usual busyness of life. Of course, the secluded location means you’ll need to plan your meals and transportation a little more carefully. But if you’re looking for a relaxing retreat surrounded by nature, I think it’s absolutely worth considering. 🌤️ Overall Experience I REGRET BOOKING ONLY ONE NIGHT! 😭❤️ This place genuinely felt like a little piece of heaven on earth. Spending time by the pool, surrounded by those magnificent limestone mountains, and simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere made my stay feel almost unreal. Sometimes, you visit a place to see the sights, but you find somewhere that makes you wish you could just stay a little longer. This was one of those places for me. I came to Ninh Binh for the landscapes and Trang An, but this hotel became one of the highlights of my trip. Leaving felt like being an angel who had to return to Earth after a brief vacation in heaven. 😂 If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat in Ninh Binh where you can slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a little slice of paradise, this place is for you.
