My daughter and I have been away from Siquijor and Kalachuchi for five days, but the breathtaking scenery, the warm-hearted people, and the memories we made there remain vivid in our minds. Kalachuchi is a beautiful and magical beach resort. On the day we checked in, the front desk had even prepared a personalized welcome sign for us, and the owner greeted us in Chinese, which made us feel truly welcomed.
The resort’s architecture and decor, primarily made from natural wood, exude a rustic and artistic charm. The restaurant faces the sea and serves delicious food; the courtyard features a serene swimming pool; and the rooms, mostly standalone two-story cabins, offer peaceful nights. The entire resort is surrounded by some of the most stunning coastline we’ve ever seen.
We unfortunately got injured on our way back to the resort after an overly enthusiastic adventure with tree vines and diving. The owner and the staff offered us so much help and support, even preparing handmade wooden canes for us and assisting with all kinds of unexpected needs. Their kindness and thoughtfulness meant a great deal to us and made us feel safe and cared for during a difficult moment.
Thank you to everyone at Kalachuchi for your warm hospitality and generous help. We’re truly grateful, and we believe our paths will cross again someday.

Guest UserI love the view of the resort although it was not located near the main attractions. Slightly troublesome for us because we can't drive a tuk tuk or motorcycle but that won't be a problem for thos who can or intend hire a tuk tuk for a day. We weren't interested in usual itinerary provided by the tours so we mostly stayed in the resort. Nevertheless, it was such a great time for my partner and I to relax and bask in the great sea view. Not having food and drinks in the room was slightly inconvenient but understandable given the fire ants situation in the island. As a result, we left some of our items behind because we forgot to claim them during check out. Not a big deal but something to take note of.

We stayed for 2 nights at Zosimo’s Inn. Our rooms was massive with kitchen and a fridge. Our second room upstairs was where our young adults stayed. The place is clean, room was very welcoming. Bed has the right firmness. Sheets and towels were crisp white.
Toiletries were provided. No Netflix or Disney on the TV. Reception answers inquiries promptly. This was the reason I opted for this place. The price I paid for was just right with breakfast included.
There is a very close walkable street food in Lazi, which was great. Our breakfast was served in a nearby eatery where our meal was prepared as ordered.
Overall, it was a good stay, aside from its distance from the main city- around 30 minutes. I can recommend this place if distance to the noisy main city is not for you.
I was gonna upload photos but trip.com website takes a long while to upload. ☹️

Guest UserMinuses:
- the pool is really small, just for chilling, not swimming.
- Mobile network signal is bad or non-existent. Hotel wifi is very very slow most of the time.
The rest was amazing.
Very beautiful setting, very clean resort, amazing restaurant, super friendly helpful and attentive staff.
You can also hire snorkelling equipment from them (must do! Lots of fun and pretty safe), and can hire a scooter directly via hotel (very easy and smooth process). Overall loved my stay and will happily stay there again!!!

Far from the center, the house wasn't bad at all. There was a cooler with hot and cold water, but no way to fry or cook food.
We saw tuna fish, raw eggs, and some vegetables, but there wasn't much food—everything was spicy, and the buns were spicy and sweet, filled with meat.
Also, for some reason, the Philippines doesn't have peeled and sliced fruit like in Thailand. It's a fruit-heavy country, and tourists don't always have the opportunity to wash and peel fruit. So, you just walk around and eat fruit, and the locals could make a little money doing it.
I rarely make fruit drinks, and coconuts aren't sold or cut everywhere. The locals could make money from this, but it's a shame you can't eat as much fruit as you want.
Fruit is very expensive, and all food is expensive in general, like in Russia, and sometimes even more so.

I had the best time staying at mad monkey siquijor. Nelson was amazing and took the time to know everyone's name and treated everyone like a true friend. Definitely give this man a raise! He was a whole vibe! The facilities are cleaned daily and all of the staff is helpful making recommendations or helping to arrange transport. Rooms were very spacious with hot water, AC, and privacy curtains. Highly recommend if you're on the island. Shout out to Pablo the accountant too he and all of the staff make this place so special! Thanks again for everything!

Emily Rose LWe want to thank the owner Gri and staff at this lovely hotel! The warmth and welcome we felt was phenomenal, as well as the service. The highlight of the stay was the gorgeous pool and view. We loved beginning and ending each day with a dip and hearing the waves crash as we fell asleep. Magical! The flowers and trees on the property are stunning and the rooms are comfortable and reasonably appointed. The beds are firm by western standards but being that we are Americans who live in China, we love this for our backs!
We ate breakfast every morning and one of our dinners in the hotel restaurant and it is very high quality, tasty food. I especially loved the organic spinach and homemade dumplings, as well as the mapo tofu- YUM! The fresh fruit each day was crisp and delicious and I LOVED drinking coconuts by the pool. Thank you, Cherry! Coffee is for purchase at the restaurant, not in the rooms.
The location of the hotel is quite remote, meaning it is peaceful and quiet. I recommend you arrange transportation for excursions in advance each day, or rent a scooter, as waiting for a tricycle can be long. We were told that you can swim and snorkel in front of the hotel but the tide was too low when we tried one day. However, there are snorkels and kayaks for use in the hotel!
The hotel is still developing some of the water activities available. The pool is deep enough for diving courses, but check to make sure they are ready, as the gear is still in order as of Oct 2023. There are snorkel and dive spots a short ride away, however, and you can ask for help at the desk to book a tour or connect with a dive shop.

The hotel is located a bit outside San Juan in a pleasantly quiet area. You should definitely rent a scooter to explore the island flexibly. However, you can also book tuk-tuks through the hotel. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and personable. Big praise to them! Unfortunately, everything doesn't seem entirely clean and is in need of renovation. Both pools look good at first glance, but are quite grubby. Some rooms aren't very clean – there were stains on the cabinets that we cleaned ourselves. The instantaneous water heater and air conditioning in the first room either didn't work at all or didn't work properly. After we brought it to their attention for two days, we were able to switch rooms. There was no cleaning service within 7 days. We gave water and food multiple times to the dog tied up in front of the hotel because its water bowl was always empty. I'm generally not picky, but for 61 euros per night, I expect more comfort, cotton towels instead of microfiber, and significantly more cleanliness. We cannot recommend a stay here.

Edward PularanI really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is clean, the service is good, and the staff are very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The location is also convenient and made it easy to get around.
One thing to keep in mind is transportation. I recommend arranging transport to the hotel in advance, especially when arriving at the pier. Alternatively, you can rent a motorcycle outside the pier port, which is a great option if you plan to explore the whole Island during your stay.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would happily recommend this hotel.
