"Pros: The price is quite reasonable, over 700 for a night with three beds. You can grab toothbrushes and toothpaste from a small table next to the front desk. There's a convenience store right next to the hotel, which is handy for buying things. Although the breakfast area is small, the breakfast itself is actually pretty good, and the restaurant staff are quite friendly. They also write little tips on a blackboard in the lobby.
Cons: The room hygiene needs improvement; only a superficial cleaning was done. When we pushed the two beds together, there were quite a lot of crumbs underneath.
Another issue was the front desk service. We booked four rooms with friends. We chose the 7 PM slot for dinner first, but then when the other three rooms tried to book the 7 PM slot, they were told it was full. However, when we had breakfast the next day, the restaurant was only about 40% occupied."

"This was the best hotel of our trip. From check-in to check-out, we felt the warmth and saw the smiles of the staff throughout. The included dinner was delicious and exquisite. The set breakfast was also pretty good. The hotel offers a variety of entertainment activities and facilities, so you won't get bored at all, and the environment is beautiful. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great; you can hear doors opening and closing from upstairs and next door."
Just a 1-minute walk to the Otaru Canal! Excellent access to tourist spots. The top floor features an open-air bath and sauna with a view of Ishikari Bay. Rooftop bar inspired by the Otaru lighthouse. Enjoy the bounty of Hokkaido at breakfast in a spacious restaurant facing the courtyard.
"The hotel is quite new and the rooms are a decent size. The facilities are standard and have everything you need, with no obvious issues. The location is great, right by the canal and shopping street, though a bit far from the station. There's a fantastic curry restaurant nearby, probably the best in Otaru. However, my room had intermittent noise while I was trying to sleep, which made it hard to fall asleep. That's a big minus."

"About a 10-minute walk from JR Otaru Station. If you're heading to Mount Tengu, there's a bus stop (pictured in image 2) just outside the hotel exit, on the way to Otaru Station, where you can catch a bus – it's very convenient. "Do NOT choose this hotel for skiing!! Unless it's half the price during the same period, I'll never pick this place again. Prioritize other hotels with shuttle buses to Otaru Station.
First, the location: This is Otaru-Chikko Station, two stops away from Otaru Station. The nearest convenience store is a 10-minute walk outside. Although there's a mall downstairs, its operating hours are 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, which is the only time you can use the indoor passage. Most restaurants close around 7 PM, so it's really inconvenient to find food after skiing.
Second, it's really old! The carpet in my room type was dirty, the bed was rock hard, and the pillow felt like a worn-out cotton pillow – small and flat. The worst part is that after sleeping, my head developed small bumps and became very itchy!! I don't know if it was fleas, but it made me scratch my head for the next few days. The hygiene is truly concerning.
This hotel has no coin-operated washing machines or laundry rooms, only individual dry cleaning, which is very expensive. This is super inconvenient for skiers staying for an extended period.
frankly, the only good thing about this hotel is the room size; everything else is a huge letdown."

"The B&B's location is pretty good and convenient, with a convenience store right outside. The interior is beautiful and thoughtfully detailed. The front desk service was just okay, nothing special. The room itself was clean and tidy, but when we turned on the heater, there was a strong, persistent kerosene smell that was really unpleasant."

"Room: The room was spacious with a vintage decor. The twin beds in the double room were also quite large and very clean. We had a great view of the canal from the window.
Location: It's about an 800-meter walk from JR Otaru Station, or a taxi ride costs around 800 yen. I'd recommend taking a taxi when it's snowing. The seaside is just 400 meters away.
Facilities: You can pick up various samples on the first floor of the lobby.
Breakfast: The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious! The sashimi was super fresh, the fried dishes were excellent, and they even had Hokkaido milk."

"This guesthouse seems to be run by Chinese owners, which is nice. My room was right by the entrance. After checking in at the front desk, I couldn't find it until I turned around... it felt a bit like sleeping in a guardhouse. The soundproofing isn't great either. Because of its peculiar location, it gets very noisy in the mornings. And the room next door seems to be a staff office, which also generates a lot of noise. However, the room was warm and clean, perfect for a night's sleep, and the price was excellent. The only downside is that it didn't have a private bathroom. The common areas were clean and there was even coffee available, which was a pleasant touch."
