Anonymous UserPros: Staff were friendly and helpful. Villa was very well kept, with excellent views of the ocean. Pleasantly surprised by complimentary puddings and drinks. Manual grinder and coffee beans were a nice touch.
Cons: Unable to drive directly to the villa due to safety policy. This made loading/unloading luggage very inconvenient. The walk to the carpark required negotiating a slippery gravel slope, which was even more dangerous in low-light conditions. Recommend to improve this with proper stairs or paved pathway.

I had an amazing time at this hotel. You will need to take 15 minutes taxi ride to reach here from Otaru station. It's right by the beach. Room is super spacious and comforting. There's kitchen and dining area. It was snowing so the balcony is filled with snow but the view is just so amazing. The staffs are very helpful. You can check in early with a small fee. Breakfast was simple. Complete amenities.

Thumbs up! ! ! Superb environment and service! !
We arrived at the hotel later and the driver couldn't find the door and helped us find it, but after a while, a staff member ran down and asked if we had booked a room, really running! ! Then the driver parked the car, then helped us pick up our luggage, and ran up again! ! ! The service was so good that our whole family was stunned! !
Entering the hotel, the air conditioning is very good, because the outside is -10 degrees, but the interior is very warm, and not baked, so very comfortable, the room is not big, but with all the traditional Japanese room things, the furnishings are very beautiful, However, if the luggage is larger and more, it becomes very crowded, but actually feels like home.
Because one night two meals, so there is a full dinner breakfast, are exquisite kaiseki cuisine, each meal also have staff to the room in advance to lead us to the restaurant, their own room, no one disturbed.
The hot spring area has indoor and outdoor, not big, but enough, we soaked twice and did not bump into anyone, chartered, great! !
After check out, the staff bowed to not see our car! ! There is a traditional Japanese etiquette! ! !
We will definitely come back to experience this one! ! !

This isn't my first time staying at a Dormy Inn; I stayed at one in Kumamoto previously and absolutely loved it. The Otaru location is right in front of the station, which is super convenient. So, I didn't hesitate to choose Dormy Inn again. They offer complimentary Yakult and ice cream, which my child adored. The free ramen served as a late-night snack was a light soy sauce broth, easy on the stomach. Breakfast quality is outstanding, featuring seafood donburi, soup curry, tempura, grilled seafood, Hokkaido milk, and local specialties. Many hotels serve frozen fruit, but Dormy Inn offers fresh fruit!

Guest UserWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, and the room was perfect for us. The room had 4 beds and windows, which made it spacious, bright, and comfortable.
The hotel is in a very good location, making it convenient to get around and visit nearby attractions. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean and cozy.
We especially enjoyed the bathtub. It was a great way to relax after a long day, and our children loved it as well.
Overall, we really liked this hotel and had a pleasant stay. We would definitely recommend it to families looking for a comfortable hotel in a good location.

This hotel in Otaru is fantastic for those traveling by car. Parking is super convenient and very affordable right next door. It’s also incredibly easy to walk out and explore the nearby shopping arcade. The rooms are spotless, tidy, and feel very new. The hotel staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming.
I honestly think I’ll be staying here again. After dropping off my bags, I could immediately head out to browse the Kitaichi Glass Museum, which has so many exquisite and beautiful glass products. Then it was a quick trip to Kitakaro and Rokkatei to grab lots of souvenirs. It was all so convenient and close by! In the afternoon, I even had time to relax with coffee and afternoon tea. I'm really looking forward to my next stay here!

Honestly the only praise to give to this hotel is the staff attitude and the location which is near the canal. The staffs were-Helpful and dedicated .
I can accept the hotel is old and not so spacious. But one thing I really can’t take it is the level of the bathroom. I can’t understand why the level is so high. We need to step a big leap to climb in order to get into the bathroom. Also to get into the bathtub to stand to shower was dangerous too. It was unbelievable deep. I almost fell.
This hotel is really not suitable for elderly people. And need to pay extra careful attention when you climb to the bathroom and to the bathtub.
Sometimes I do not understand why can’t just list out that you would need to collect onsen tax. If I know I need to pay for that I would not want to choose this hotel. Because I do not go for the onsen.

Facilities: The hotel is quite old, and while the facilities are in good condition, they aren't exactly modern. Surprisingly, there's a vintage audio system that plays music with a great ambiance from a bygone era. The sound quality also has that classic feel, which I loved. It's definitely worth experiencing this unique charm that other hotels don't offer.
Service: Standard hotel service, but they upgraded my room without me even asking, which was a nice touch!
Transportation: Even though the hotel is on a mountaintop, they offer a shuttle service to the nearest JR station, which is a huge plus. The Otaru Aquarium is just a few steps away, and the dolphin show is fantastic, plus the penguins are adorable.
Scenery: This hotel probably boasts the most unique coastal cliff views in Otaru. It's truly postcard-worthy, and the best part is being able to enjoy it while soaking in the hot spring during the day. The scenery is beautiful and enjoyable. At night, however, you can't see anything.
Hygiene: Standard hotel cleanliness.
Food: I only stayed overnight and didn't try the food.

Reading previous reviews, I was a bit worried it would be very old. In reality, Japan's overall hygiene standards are quite high. We stayed in two Japanese-style rooms, and objectively speaking, this hotel isn't luxurious, but it has everything you need and the details are good. The downside is inconvenient transportation; it's actually very close to Otaru, but only accessible by bus and the hotel shuttle (my problem that I can't afford a taxi). If you can only eat at the hotel, the prices aren't expensive and the food is good, but it's a bit monotonous; every night there are just four set menus that need to be reserved in advance. The 10-tatami mat room is very spacious and comfortable for two or three people. The hot spring is nice and very relaxing. Breakfast isn't extensive but it's delicious. It's very close to the ski resort, a 5-minute walk. Also, a shout-out to Ms. Han at the front desk, who is Chinese, which made communication easy and smooth! In short, if you're skiing or can drive, it's very suitable! If you want to explore Otaru city, it's not recommended.

I booked for RM150, and this is my best hotel I stayed in Sapporo. The location is near the tourist area but its within neighborhood area, and its uphill. So for anyone with luggage might be struggling a bit if u dont have car. But, the view is amazing, and they gave me a room with snow view as i requested. The room are spotless, comfortable and have personal heater inside. The staff also very friendly and accomodating esp when I asked to borrow a charger. The public bath also big and u might have it all to yourself honestly (not that many guest during my stay). I would love to come back!
