"The butler service was excellent and very responsive. We stayed in both the RV and the tent. My family in the tent said the wind was so strong at night they felt like they were going to be blown away, haha, but the tent was beautiful and still worth experiencing. The breakfast buffet was very good. It's truly impressive to have so many fresh vegetables available in the desert. When we visited, there was a bonfire party and folk music performance, though the butler mentioned it's not held every night. I came here last year and thought this hotel, deep in the desert, was amazing. Unlike other tent hotels that put up a bunch of haphazard things just to attract guests, this one was just a large expanse of clean, simple desert. The environment was elegant and refined, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. I raved about it to my family when I got back. To be honest, this year was a bit disappointing because I noticed they seemed to be setting up amusement rides like carousels. The grounds looked messy and it wasn't as serene as last year. And a carousel in the middle of the desert really feels superfluous... The kids were all busy digging, sandboarding, and socializing. I really hope it doesn't turn into a messy tent hotel. However, the butlers were all very dedicated and provided excellent service, which is something I can't fault."

The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel (Dunhuang Shanzhuang) is the most luxurious accommodation option in town. Located just outside of town, this hotel has a large range of rooms from standard to suites and villas.A little inconvenient for travelers interested in spending most of their time in downtown Dunhuang, the hotel does have plenty of amenities and entertainment rooms to keep their guests entertained. There is a shuttle bus that runs to and from town.
"I checked in on September 5th, and the price was almost 1300. I just want to say, it was extremely bad value for money. It felt like paying 1300 to stay in a guesthouse. Luckily, I only stayed one night; if I had stayed two, I would have demanded a full refund! The moment I stepped into the hotel, I had a bad feeling, and I was right! Firstly, the service was mediocre, just average. Secondly, we arrived at noon and ordered room service. A plate of vegetarian dumplings for over 30 yuan – I have good reason to suspect they were frozen. And they were served on a plastic plate! After charging a 20% service fee, couldn't they at least use a white porcelain bowl? That wouldn't cost much, would it? The other dishes weren't very good either. Thirdly, the bedding was truly unbearable! I brought disposable bedding, and I didn't need to use it at any other hotel, only at yours! It's genuinely worse than an economy hotel! The hotel is old, and the hardware can't be changed, but couldn't you at least use better soft furnishings? The bath towels were thin and old. Surely, it wouldn't cost much to get better quality ones. I've traveled a lot and I'm not very particular, but your bedding and bath towels were the first that I simply couldn't bring myself to use! Fourthly, I booked this hotel thinking it was close to Mingsha Mountain, worried about getting a taxi at night. But it's actually still a 15-minute walk. Plus, there are plenty of taxis and buses available from Mingsha Mountain at night; outside of the summer holiday, staying in the city center would have been fine. The only praise I have is that the breakfast was pretty good. The beef noodles were freshly made, which I commend. Coffee was also offered."

"Traveling through the Hexi Corridor, I flew directly to Dunhuang and stayed for four nights. This was by far the best hotel of the trip. The front desk upgraded our room to a family suite (with three beds) which was absolutely fantastic! 👍👍👍 The facilities are newly renovated and very modern, and the service was excellent with prompt responses. They also have self-service washing machines and dryers, which is incredibly important for long trips! Even the taxi drivers said this hotel was great. The location is convenient; Shazhou Night Market is less than a 10-minute walk away, and getting a taxi or the airport bus is very easy. I would definitely recommend it to friends~"

"I stayed at Dunhuang Yuntian International Hotel for two nights from August 23rd to 25th, and I absolutely have to give it a rave review! I took the train from Lanzhou to Dunhuang. I had informed the hotel of my train number in advance, and to my surprise, they arranged a complimentary pick-up service. As soon as I exited the station, I saw the driver holding a sign waiting for me, and he even helped carry my luggage to the car. This start alone earned them major bonus points. The hotel's location is truly unbeatable, right next to Shazhou Night Market, just a few minutes' walk away. In the evenings, after exploring the night market, enjoying some BBQ, drinking apricot peel water, and buying souvenirs, I could just stroll back to the hotel. No need to worry about finding a taxi or walking too far. The bus to Mingsha Mountain stops right at the entrance, and a taxi to Mogao Grottoes only takes about ten minutes, making it super convenient for sightseeing. I chose a room with a humidifier. Dunhuang is naturally dry in August, and with the humidifier on, sleeping was so much more comfortable; I didn't wake up in the middle of the night with a dry throat. The mattress was a zero-pressure type; you just sink into it, and I slept incredibly well. The hot water came on quickly, and the vanity thoughtfully provided disposable facial towels, which is a nice touch for women. The front desk staff were also very friendly and check-in was fast. Breakfast starts at 7 AM and includes freshly ground coffee, yogurt, fruits, and local snacks. It's great not to have to go out hungry early in the morning looking for food, especially useful for those heading to Mogao Grottoes early. Overall, for this price, to stay in the city center with pick-up service, a rich breakfast, and a clean, comfortable room, the value for money is truly high. I genuinely recommend this place for solo travelers or those bringing family to Dunhuang. I'll definitely stay here again next time!"

During peak season, hotel rooms were scarce, and I had only booked one night. Anna assisted me in extending my stay at the discounted platform rate. She also helped me book tickets for 'See Dunhuang Again' and even gave me a 30 RMB fruit voucher. I really appreciate Anna's thoughtful and meticulous service. Although the hotel room wasn't huge, it was very cozy and comfortable. You could even see distant views of Mingsha Mountain from the window. My child was particularly pleased as well."

"This hotel is quite unique, it's pet-friendly, has a rich breakfast, and also offers dinner. There's a simple dinner available in the second-floor restaurant before 11 PM. The parking lot in the backyard is also quite large. Although there's a cat room next to the elevator on the first floor, there's no pet odor, probably thanks to good cat litter. "This was easily one of the most memorable stays during our trip to China. The camp is located right beside the stunning desert, offering breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. What impressed us most was how many activities were included for free. We enjoyed unlimited sandboarding on the dunes, a camel riding experience, and even had the chance to ride off-road motorcycles in the desert. Everything was well organized and suitable even for first-time visitors. The traditional Dunhuang-style dinner was delicious and gave us a great opportunity to experience local flavors. In the evening, we watched a wonderful bonfire party with live performances, and the spectacular molten iron fireworks show was absolutely amazing—something we had never seen before. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The tents were comfortable, clean, and surprisingly well equipped considering the desert location. "I booked a B&B that was incredibly good value for money this time. We got a twin room, which was spacious with plenty of open space – unlike some other B&Bs that cram things in and feel cramped. The cleanliness was excellent, and the decor was a simple yet cozy style with comfortable lighting. The facilities were quite new and comprehensive. Each room even had a washing machine, refrigerator, and sofa. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, a vanity mirror, and a hairdryer that was surprisingly efficient. Bathrobes and toiletries were also provided, which was very convenient. The owner and his wife were both very kind and their service was thoughtful. They were always smiling and enthusiastic when we met them, but in a way that felt natural and not at all forced. Communication with them was very easy. If we needed anything, like directions, borrowing something, or had a last-minute request, they pretty much always found a solution. I really commend them; you could genuinely feel they put their heart into running the place. Plus, the B&B has a dining area and kitchen in its small courtyard where you can order food. I have to especially praise the owner's cooking – the dishes he stir-fried were truly delicious! The home-style cooking was authentic, and the ingredients were very fresh. The meat was bought fresh from the market that morning; lamb chops bought in the morning appeared on our lunch table. If you have any dietary restrictions, just let them know in advance and they'll accommodate you. We told them we don't eat spicy food, and he didn't put any in, even saying he could show off his skills even more if we *could* handle spice. We ate every meal at the B&B and never went out, and we cleared our plates every time. I really wish I could eat the owner's cooking every day. There's also a backyard behind the B&B, which is quite spacious, with a few tables and camping chairs. After dinner, you can relax there with some tea and a chat. There are also swings and sand toys, which kept the kids happy. Overall, I was very satisfied with this stay. Every aspect was comfortable, and it truly felt like being at home. I think this is the highest level a hotel or B&B can achieve: allowing guests to truly relax and feel at ease, just like home. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit."

Out of our 9-day trip along the Qinghai-Gansu Loop, this homestay was our family's absolute favorite. It's a place with real heart and soul, where every detail is thoughtfully considered. Even our five-year-old said he'd give this hotel 30 stars! The homestay has a great design aesthetic, and the rooms are spotless, perfectly matching the tastes and ideas of younger travelers. We always bring our own disposable toiletries when we travel, but here, everything was already provided in the room. I also really loved the landlady – she's just one of those people you instantly like, and it was so comfortable interacting with her. From the moment we checked into the homestay in Dunhuang, we had such a positive impression of the city. Even though our stay was brief, it's full of beautiful memories. When we were leaving, she found out my child liked apricots and even gave him some from her own yard, which was incredibly touching. The breakfast offered a wide variety, and it was all very enjoyable. I truly recommend this homestay if you're coming to Dunhuang. I hope everyone gets to experience the genuine warmth and hospitality during their travels here. Their raisins are also highly recommended!

This was the most pleasant surprise among all the hotels we stayed at during our 10-day trip to Qinghai and Gansu. The starry sky theme and its intricate details are incredibly well-executed, with new discoveries around every corner. You can really tell the owner poured their heart into creating this hotel. The decor and amenities are also excellent, with every room featuring a smart toilet and a starry sky projector. Most importantly, the service is outstanding! They offered pickup from the station and proactively shared a wealth of knowledge about Dunhuang. Since the owner used to be a tour guide for over ten years, they truly know everything! They also provided many travel tips and itineraries. We booked the astronomy mini-class, which was very interesting. Unfortunately, it was cloudy on both days of our stay, so we couldn't see many stars.

The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite Shazhou Night Market. The room decor is also very nice. I forgot to take pictures of breakfast, but they had a great selection of cold dishes, hot dishes, fruits, and drinks. There's parking available right in front of the hotel and also an underground garage. In the evening, after visiting Crescent Spring, we took the free shuttle bus that drops you near the hotel, and it was only a 7-8 minute walk back to rest. So convenient! Plus, the room even has a bathtub, perfect for the kids to soak in after a tiring day. From its location to its service, this hotel is simply perfect. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Dunhuang!!

On a self-driving tour, I decided to stay here last minute and was pleasantly surprised! As soon as I turned into the parking lot, a staff member came over to guide me. They helped with my luggage every step of the way, and everyone I encountered greeted me proactively. The front desk gave me a sand protection neck gaiter and a voucher for congee in the evening. In the room, there were welcome snacks, yogurt, and plenty of water. They also provided free chargers and a humidifier. There's even a foot bath at the self-service laundry room, with disposable bath bags for hygiene. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, definitely 4-star+! So many varieties, better than many 4.7+ hotels in the city. They also offer shuttle service. I'll definitely be back!

This stay was absolutely delightful! I was initially worried about the location being a bit out of the way, so I only booked one night. To my surprise, getting a taxi on the first night was super easy, so we extended our stay. While there aren't other guesthouses right around ours, we noticed a whole street full of guesthouses nearby, which seemed crowded and noisy. At night, lying in bed, you can hear the wind brushing against the walls, but it's not loud; it actually feels like being in harmony with nature. My husband and I also went gold panning – if you find gold coins, you can exchange them for prizes. We went enthusiastically, expecting a small sandbox like in a park, but it was a massive area! **Mingsha Mountain View Afternoon Tea:** The chilled apricot peel tea was delicious. **Fengmingsha Desert Restaurant - 30% off coupon for set meals:** After we landed, the butler collected our luggage and told us hotpot was ready, just waiting for us to freshen up and eat. The lamb wasn't ***** at all, and the dipping sauce was really tasty.

I loved the Courtyard B&B. The rural but very chic style. My room was generous, furnishing in the same traditional style. Clean throughout The reception area very attractive and provides nice secluded spaces for relaxing- working in my case) under Bamboo trees and mandala decorated glasses of the ceiling. Very peaceful. I very much appreciated the presence of a kittens with mum and a little doggie which I perceived like mascotte of the place. They were very well maintained and cared of. The stuff is very nice and helpful and we were able to understand each others in some way. I highly recommend this accomodation both for holiday and work.

We made a mistake choosing this hotel: the word “international” led us to believe it would be better prepared to receive foreign guests, but that was not our experience. That said, the staff’s service was excellent at all times. Although they did not speak English, they consistently made the effort to use translation tools to communicate with us and assist us in the best possible way, which we truly appreciated. The hotel was almost empty. The first breakfast took place in a huge dining area where we were the only guests, which meant the variety was quite limited. There was some Chinese food and a coffee machine, but there were no options commonly expected by international travelers, such as fruit, cereals, yogurt, or bread. That same day, we were informed that the rest of the breakfasts would be delivered directly to our room. The staff made a continuous effort to ensure we felt comfortable with this arrangement, confirming the delivery time with us each day. The room was spacious and comfortable. However, the cleanliness did not match the hotel’s level and price: the carpet had visible stains, and finding a toothpick at the entrance made it clear that cleaning standards were not adequate. In addition, the amount of shampoo and soap provided was extremely limited—again, not consistent with the quality one would expect given the building and overall appearance of the hotel. In summary, we would like to highlight the kindness and dedication of the staff, but we believe the hotel still has important aspects to improve, especially regarding international standards and cleanliness.

The boss was very enthusiastic. I contacted him one day in advance and waited for us at the station early the next morning. The accommodation was close to the East Gate. We said we were going to Crescent Lake and Mingsha Mountain. The boss took the initiative to drive us to the Middle Gate, saying that we could save 20 yuan on the shuttle bus fare. The next day, we signed up for a tour group to go out and play. The boss also sent us to the boarding point early in the morning. The boss was afraid that it would be inconvenient to go back after the Crescent Lake Music Festival, so he also came to pick us up, making our travel very convenient. The accommodation environment is also very good, and the steamed bun for breakfast is particularly large.
