Varna Culture Hotel is located at strategic location closer to Tunjungan Plaza and many local eateries around. But I was given a room at smoking floor although when I booked I already requested for nonsmoking room. We have to inhale lots of 2nd hand smoke which was quite bad for our throat and causing us hard to breathe. The bathroom had given us lots of problems, after we took a shower, we realised the water cannot flow into the drainage hole and stayed floating next to the toilet bowl. The whole floor flooded as the floor design was a problem. When we complained to front desk staff, they already knew the problem but they cannot do anything. They only offered the housekeeper to mop away the water. Which the floor still wet. The water pressure is too low while we on the shower. The shower head positioned wrongly on wall and not flexible which caused the shower water to shoot directly to the opposite wall instead of to our body or face. It wet the whole towel rack and the toilet bowl behind us. Hence, we have to hold the shower head most of the time to ensure we can clean our body thoroughly. Breakfast served was average. The juices were quite plain and no fruit flavour. The overall food served was OK. No minibar in the hotel. We have to buy ice cube 5,000rp for a cup of 4pcs ice cudes.

Nothing to review because everything was perfect. Great staff stay and facilities

Room is clean, bed is super single size and very comfortable. We requested for smoking room and still the room no smell of cigarettes at all. Staffs are very friendly too. Book room service massage from the spa and the therapist is very experienced..we enjoy our stay!!

I had an incredible experience at Bumi Surabaya City Resort, and I can't recommend this hotel enough! Nestled in a lush garden setting right in the heart of Surabaya, excellent service, and beautiful surroundings. The spacious rooms offered stunning views of the city, providing a perfect blend of relaxation and luxury. I particularly enjoyed the rich breakfast buffet, featuring a delightful selection of both local and international dishes, all freshly prepared and delicious. Moreover, the hotel's facilities had a lovely swimming pool surrounded by greenery, two tennis courts, spa and massage ,perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the city. What truly stood out was the hospitality of the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and eager to ensure that my stay was enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both business and leisure travelers. It’s my second stay at Bumi Surabaya and I look forward to returning in the future. If you're looking for a blend of comfort and charm in Surabaya, this is the place to be!

Good stay at this hotel. Strategic location. Breakfast was good

Great location near the train station. Friendly staff, English spoken. Large room with huge comfortable bed, very clean, excellent hot shower. We arrived from Bromo lacking sleep and slept peacefully here for 10 hours, very quiet, good soundproofing. There was a damp patch on the wall (see photo) but the room itself was not damp so not a problem, and we did kill a couple of small roaches but again not a problem. Nice views of the city. Excellent breakfast of fresh fruit and asian choices, enjoyed the sauteed greens, veg curry, tofu and tempe. We enjoyed our stay very much, refreshed and ready for our onward journey to Yogyakarta. Highly recommend, would stay again. To improve, the hotel could provide filtered water dispensers to remove the need for plastic bottled water in rooms.

Had a great time. The environment was good and all the fasilities provided could be enjoyed. Definitely will come again in the future. I faced some difficulties but it was handled well bt the workers.

Cheap, but good for the price. Area of town is not so safe, but the property is gated and the front desk came immediately to let me in every time I left.

One of the best hotel in surabaya, location is in the city easy to get around, the room is nice and clean and the breakfast was amazing.
