I traveled with my family and carefully planned our trip, choosing to visit Chengyang Eight Villages. The experience was fantastic; there was no commercial marketing, and you could genuinely see the lives of the local Dong people. Staying at Nanyi Homestay was the best choice we made during our trip. The stilted houses here perfectly preserve the authentic way of life. The owners, Lao Liang and Xiao Chen, were incredibly welcoming, and the food was super delicious, especially the local duck – I highly recommend trying it! The breakfast was also plentiful, and they even booked a ”Hundred Families Banquet” for us. We felt the warmth and hospitality of the Dong people. It was my first time escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to such a tranquil and secluded little world. The hospitality of the people of Guangxi was truly touching. I will definitely come back again. I wish the owners great success in their business and all the best.

✅ 1. Located above Intime Department Store, the hotel offers convenient transportation and is easy to find for taxis. It's just a street away from Wuxing Street, making for an easy walk without traffic. 2. Most popular restaurants deliver to the hotel, or have branches within walking distance. Deliveries can be brought up to the room. 3. The front desk is very responsive; they picked up the phone immediately and even granted a late check-out. Thumbs up! 4. The view is indeed great, with a perfect river view. It's a shame that Liuzhou experienced flooding during my stay, so the musical fountain was suspended. ❌ 1. The hotel is situated on a high floor of a building that houses many other hotels. Although this specific hotel has two exclusive elevators, they are small and operate very slowly, leading to long waits. Because of this, I probably won't stay here again.

The location is fantastic, right by the Wind-Rain Bridge, allowing you to fully enjoy the famous bridge from the balcony and windows. The hygiene is excellent. The room comes with a sterilizing cabinet for self-sterilizing teaware and bowls. The bathroom is equipped with disposable toilet seat covers, and you can also use the alcohol wipes provided by the owner for disinfection. There are also disposable towels, showing great consideration for hygiene. The tables, chairs, and bed frames in the guesthouse are all made of raw wood, which is very unique. You can tell a lot of thought went into it. The guesthouse doesn't include breakfast. It was raining that day, so we couldn't go out to eat. We asked the landlady to cook us a few bowls of lean pork noodles with greens and fried eggs. When it was time to pay, she insisted on not charging us. She said that there was an issue with the hot water the night before, and a technician from the county didn't fix it until after 11 PM. She felt sorry for us and said that a few bowls of noodles couldn't make up for it. Her sincerity was truly touching. We'll definitely stay at Sanjiang Drum Tower Guesthouse again next time.

Facilities: The pool and gym were fantastic! The pool is a circulating outdoor one, and the gym equipment is from Life Fitness. You can even play pickleball here. The mattress was perfectly comfortable, not too soft, not too firm. My only slight regret was that the toilet wasn't smart. Hygiene: Actually, the cleanliness was quite good. It's just that the black tiles around the vanity show every water stain and footprint very easily, making them look dirty. Ambiance: The decor is simple yet elegant. The fried noodles, Luosifen (snail noodles), and duck feet at breakfast were especially delicious. Service: The staff were incredibly enthusiastic. They upgraded us to a river-view room. Even when we ran out of hotel amenities late at night, they brought them right to our door. After we finished our takeout, we left the trash bag outside, and a staff member promptly came to clear it away.

I 4 days at the Holiday Inn for my birthday and I must say that I truly enjoyed my stay. The ambiance of the hotel, all the staff was so warm and welcoming. They truly made my time there one of luxury and relaxation. Although they couldn’t speak English that did not stop us from efficiently communicating. We used WeChat to communicate between us. They really were attentive to my needs and endured my time was special. The hotel manager surprised me with a birthday cake which was delicious and all the staff I met were exceptional great with their hospitality. I especially want to thank one of the staff who I named Faye for special taking care of me by ordering my food and wine and making sure my stay went smoothly. A big thanks to everyone for giving me such happy memories. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Rongshui. It’s a great place to relax, the atmosphere is tranquil, the rooms are very clean and modern and the scenery is breathtaking. I will be back soon.

I was quite disappointed when I first arrived at Chengyang Eight Villages. It was a Friday, and I was told there was no 'Baijia Banquet' (Hundred Family Feast). Plus, besides us, there were no other tourists in the scenic area. I thought this trip would be incredibly boring and dull. Coming with a group of friends, I wasn't sure what we could even do, and I didn't want to spend more money on tickets for a bonfire party. The owner of the guesthouse, Mr. Yang, recommended we book a farmhouse bonfire party. We could eat at a Dong family's home with local performances and toasts, costing about 100-200 yuan per person. Alternatively, we could eat at the guesthouse and have locals come perform, which would be cheaper. We decided to eat at the guesthouse at 7:30 pm. After exploring three villages, it was perfect timing for dinner. The Dong sisters were already waiting for us, serving us with great enthusiasm and politeness. Everyone ate and drank to their heart's content that evening. (The guesthouse food is all homemade by the landlady, with very fresh and delicious ingredients, and the liquor is also excellent – you can try it first). We had a wonderful time with the Dong sisters; we really bonded! Their singing is truly beautiful and captivating. Even my usually reserved husband was swept up in the fun! My friend asked if we could dance, and they taught us their traditional dances. The guesthouse rooms are spacious. We rented a twin room and a triple room (which was huge!). Our room had a view of the bridge. The guesthouse is located in Yan Village, very close to the other two villages and the Yongji Bridge (which has a very interesting and fun welcoming ceremony). My husband drank too much and managed to clog the basin, but the owner wasn't upset and unclogged it for him. The facilities in local guesthouses aren't as modern as city hotels, after all, we were staying in an ancient building. I found the room very clean, the bathroom had everything needed, and the towels had no strange odors. The landlady also suggested we go for a traditional ethnic costume photoshoot the next morning, costing 50 yuan per person (outfit + makeup) or 30 yuan without makeup. The young lady at the ethnic costume shop was very professional and patient. There were many costume choices, and the materials were excellent. Everyone looked beautiful, and many people on the street kept taking photos with us. Finally, my friends all had a wonderful time and were happy with their purchases. The owners also gave us discounts on souvenirs and tea (we got to sample the tea, and the recommended ones were delicious). The next day, the same Dong sisters who came last night served us lunch, and we had another delightful meal. The landlady also helped us find a 7-seater car to take our group of five to the high-speed train station (for 80 yuan). What I initially thought would be a dull trip turned out to be the most enjoyable and relaxing part of our 7 days in Guangxi (including Yangshuo and the rice terraces)! **Previously, due to other reviews, I had doubts about the landlady's cooking! After the landlady's repeated assurances, we decided to try the first lunch. To my surprise, the ingredients were incredibly high-quality. Even my friend who dislikes eggplant ate a lot, and I, who doesn't eat potatoes, ate quite a bit. The meat was so delicious that we ordered ribs for every meal! Although the beef wasn't tender, it was very fragrant and fresh! We just weren't used to the cured meat, and the luosifen (snail noodles) could be skipped. The landlady seasoned everything perfectly; we didn't feel thirsty afterward, and the flavors suited both our Malaysian and British palates. Consequently, we ended up having three more meals at the guesthouse.

The girl who checked me in was really really nice. Very kind and helpful. I had kinda big issue during my stay, at 3am the lock reader started to beep very loudly. I tried to ignore but the sound was very annoying and exhausting. Stayed for an hour hoping would stop at any time but it didn’t happen. I informed front desk at 4am and the guy came up to help. We didn’t figure out what causes the problem but the staff ended up fixing it. Despite this incident, the overall is really good. 9,5/10

Good points: 1. The service was excellent. The hotel staff (restaurant, front desk, maintenance) were all incredibly helpful. I'm very grateful for their thoughtful service! 2. The family suite was spacious. The bathroom and Tmall Genie devices were very smart. 3. The hotel is very new, seemingly only a few months old. The facilities were new and clean. 4. The breakfast was quite extensive with a wide selection. The chefs provided a hot and humid environment, so you didn't have to boil your own soup or noodles. Areas for Improvement: 1. The suite was large and simply furnished. It could be renovated to make it feel like home. 2. Neither of the hotel's elevators had air conditioning, making it quite hot and stuffy in the summer. 3. Having to pass through the gym to get to the laundry room was a bit awkward for those who work out. 4. The hotel isn't very elderly-friendly, as the bathroom floor can be slippery when wet, and the elderly may not be able to use smart devices like Tmall Genie. Overall, this hotel is new, clean, and a great value!
