If I were to give Xia Shan B&B a perfect score of 5 for cleanliness, service, and facilities, then I'd give the stunning terraced fields a 10! Staying in Xia Shan is like living amidst breathtaking scenery; it's so beautiful that it makes you greedy, and even blinking feels like a waste of life. At Xia Shan B&B, it's not simply about ”looking at the scenery,” but about using your whole being to enjoy the layers upon layers of greenery, the mountain mist, and the scent of rice paddies… I absolutely love this place, a secluded paradise untouched by the world…

This stay exceeded my expectations, a perfect five-star review! The entire house was spotless, the bedding was soft, and all necessary amenities were provided. The guesthouse was quiet and peaceful, with a superb location, making it convenient for sightseeing and dining. The owner was warm and attentive, patiently answering any questions I had. The attention to detail was excellent, making for a relaxing and reassuring stay. Highly recommended!

A true gem of a hotel! It's located right by the river with absolutely stunning views. The ground floor has a super chic lounge area and a laundry room, it's so tastefully decorated, much nicer than most cafes. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful with everything we needed. The room itself is exquisitely designed, featuring Kohler bathroom fixtures, a smart toilet, and LEOXAO toiletries – you can really feel the attention to detail everywhere. What's more, they replenish the room daily with 4 bottles of water, 2 cans of Coke, and 2 bottles of honeysuckle herbal tea. The most delightful surprise, though, was the large complimentary fruit platter delivered every single day!

Facilities: The B&B is very well designed, very clean, and has a lot of space. It is located at the end of the village, far away from the commercial street, so there is no noise at all at night. Service: The service is very good. We contacted the B&B housekeeper an hour in advance on the day of arrival and he came to pick us up quickly. The next day we caught the bus and wanted to go to Tang'an Dong Village earlier. The lady boss provided us with a hearty breakfast in the morning and also provided us with a chartered car service. The housekeeper from the previous day happened to be free to go shopping with us and introduced the characteristics and history of Dong Village. Environment: The environment is very good. The scenery is particularly beautiful when you wake up in the morning. There are beautiful rice fields outside. Hygiene: The bathroom is very clean and equipped with disposable toilet covers and bathtub covers. The cleaning and care products used are all from Shiseido.

The wooden house we lived in was very comfortable, in the tea garden, listening to the light rain, eating delicious food, really refreshing. (Most of their ingredients are grown by themselves, and they also have their own bacon, which is super delicious, especially the big sister who cooks!) The rain stopped the next day, and the bird tea was fragrant in the morning. It felt very comfortable. Then there is tea picking, and the children make their own tea into tea. This experience is also great. Of course, the tea garden is also super filming, Zhang Zhang blockbuster. Tossing the trouble of the market, this is a great place to relax!

Sharing my personal experience: Spur of the moment decision for a May Day road trip to Guizhou, with Zhaoxing Dong Village as our first stop. The B&B contacted us in advance to confirm our arrival time. They offer pick-up and drop-off service from the high-speed train station/scenic area entrance. Since we drove, we parked at the scenic area entrance, and after a few minutes' walk through ticket verification, they picked us up. The pick-up vehicle was a private car, and the staff member carried our luggage the whole way. It was a five-minute drive to the village entrance, then a 10-minute walk to the B&B. The last few minutes involved an uphill climb, but they helped with the luggage, so I personally didn't mind. Unless you're an elderly person who struggles with stairs, there's really nothing to complain about. The views from the top are excellent. The B&B is located slightly behind the center of the main street, making it very quiet at night. As for soundproofing, we went to bed quite late, and there was hardly any noise. On the way, the staff member gave us basic information about the village. It didn't matter that we hadn't planned anything; he offered suggestions based on our arrival time, the weather, and our travel goals, which I really appreciated (a day is definitely enough for this village). Breakfast: We woke up at 10 AM, and after asking, the staff member saved breakfast for us. We also requested to have it delivered to our room, which they accommodated – very satisfied with this. Regarding the room: The decor isn't luxurious, but it's very clean, and you can tell they maintain high cleaning standards. Using the bathtub cover can be a bit cumbersome, but it's usable. The bedding was my favorite – very comfortable. For a B&B, I think cleanliness is key, and I'm not overly picky. They provided complimentary fruit, and the water was VOSS. The toiletries were excellent; the shampoo felt very natural, and the dental kit was good too. Much better than the ones at Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village the next day; I should have taken some, but I forgot. Before departure, they would ask for our approximate leaving time in advance and arrange transport to the station. They would also help send our luggage to a station outside the scenic area, so we could just go explore. After exploring, we'd walk to the village entrance, and the car would already be there – very convenient. (I even asked the owner to chill some fruit for me, so I didn't have to go back for it when leaving; everything was arranged perfectly). The price we booked was 1350, due to the May Day peak season. For this price, the hardware facilities were decent, but what left the deepest impression on me was the overall experience. From check-in to check-out, every staff member we encountered had a constant, warm smile. Even the auntie who cooked breakfast was very friendly, making the start of our holiday very pleasant. I rarely write reviews and rarely stay in B&Bs. No one asked me for a good review when we checked out, so I'm writing this to express my gratitude. We arrived at 7 PM and checked out at 2 PM the next day. We watched a performance, ate sour soup fish, and did a travel photoshoot – it was perfect. Definitely worth experiencing.

I found myself living in a prose poem within the Dong village. Here I am at the airport, waiting to board, and a small part of my heart is still lingering on that balcony. The guesthouse is located right at the entrance of the village, perfectly situated – not engulfed by the hustle and bustle, nor isolated from the daily life. I pushed open the door, walked into the room, set down my luggage, and stepped onto the balcony. The entire Dong village unfolded before my eyes, layer upon layer, with its dark tiled roofs stretching out like a painting crumpled by time and then smoothed open. I didn't go anywhere that evening; I just sat there, watching the twilight creep in inch by inch. The silhouette of the drum tower gradually turned into a cut-out, and the village lights flickered on one by one, like stars scattered across the mountains. That night, we simply listened to music and chatted in the mountain breeze, with the starry sky above and homes in the distance. We only stayed one night, but it felt as if we had been there for a long time. The room itself was beautiful too, with thoughtful touches hidden in every corner. The interplay of light and shadow on the window lattices, the grain of the wood – every casual shot captured a perfect scene. But these qualities, ultimately, are about the house. What truly captivates you here are the people. The landlady, a native Dong, was born and raised there, exuding a vibrant energy gifted by the land itself. She led us through small alleys not found on any map, where the stone paths were smoothed by time, and wooden houses on either side revealed cooking smoke and clothes drying. She told us which corners had the best light, and in front of which old window lattice we could capture a unique view of the Wind-Rain Bridge – those places without road signs are the true veins of the village. When she had free time, she chatted with us, telling us about working in other provinces when she was young, and how she returned when the road reached her doorstep – preferring to work in her own village, be close to her elders and children, living a steady life. She also talked about swimming in the river in winter, and her eyes sparkled when she spoke of it. It wasn't boasting, but the kind of radiance you see in someone who truly lives life to the fullest. We only spent a day together, but I still remember her way of speaking very clearly. She also helped us arrange for a driver to take us to see the sunrise the next day, meticulously instructing us on the time and location, as if she were organizing something for her own relatives. The next morning, as the first light broke, standing on the mountain and watching the golden light gradually paint the village, my heart swelled with much more than just the beauty of the scenery. Coincidentally, we had just visited the Long March exhibition the day before. The stories of crossing mountains and rivers, enduring snow and wind, still weighed heavily on my mind. Hearing the landlady laughingly say, “Now every village has concrete roads,” in that moment, history suddenly transformed from text in a glass case into the roads beneath my feet, the people before my eyes, and the ordinary life within reach. I have never so genuinely felt that some roads, traveled for nearly a century, have finally reached the doorsteps of ordinary homes. There was also a little sister, running back and forth, helping us with our luggage and making reservations. Her smile was shy and sweet, like a ray of light peeking through the morning mist. We only stayed one night. But in that one night, this guesthouse gave me a memory with warmth. As I left, I wondered how long a trip could be remembered, and perhaps it doesn't depend on how many days you stayed, but on who you met. If you come to Zhaoxing, I hope you stay here. Sit on the balcony and feel the mountain breeze, walk those nameless paths with the landlady, and you'll discover that the drum tower is beautiful, the flower bridge is beautiful, but the most beautiful things are the people and the moments you finally slow down and get close to.
