"The hotel's location is great, right in front of Kyoto Station. If you exit from Hachijo-guchi South Exit, it's only a 5-minute walk. The hotel entrance isn't very noticeable, and there's no lobby on the ground floor, so it's easy to miss. Check-in is on the third floor. I arrived quite early, so I dropped off my luggage and went out to explore. Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. The room isn't large, but unlike many Japanese hotels, it has a separate wet and dry area, and the toilet is also in its own room. The bathtub is larger than most hotel tubs. The breakfast ingredients were also quite fresh. They provide a check-in guide in Chinese, which is very convenient, even if your English isn't perfect. The only drawback is that the cleaning wasn't thorough enough. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I always inspect the room. I found residual hair in the bathtub and stains on the toilet seat. I put on gloves and disinfected everything twice with alcohol wipes. I hope the hotel improves its cleaning standards; otherwise, I'm quite satisfied with everything else."

"Facilities: You have to walk through an alley to find the hotel entrance. Upon entering, you pass by the staff area. The lobby environment, facing a small courtyard, is quite pleasant. However, the quality of the Otowa Hall is mediocre. They claim to offer complimentary soft drinks and snacks, but in reality, there isn't much choice. The coffee machine area was cluttered with used coffee cups, making it look a bit dirty. Service: Hotel check-in time is 3 PM, but I arrived at 2:30 PM after some early shopping. The staff brought out some snacks and even knelt down to meticulously explain the hotel's layout and check-in procedures. Hygiene: I stayed in a Japanese-style room with a tatami mat. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the environment, but the bed sheets had a strong, stale odor. It felt like they weren't changed between guests... even perfume couldn't cover the smell. Overall, I felt this hotel prioritizes formality. The internal quality still has room for improvement!"

"The hotel is located on Shijo street, about an 800-meter walk from Karasuma Station. Downstairs, there are two large supermarkets, one on each side, and a convenience store right across the street. The lobby is on the third floor and is very spacious. The breakfast selection is excellent, and I particularly enjoyed their draft coffee, which is served from a machine much like a beer tap. You get a bit of the concentrate, then add ice water and milk, and it tastes really good. The room is a typical Japanese hotel room – not very big. We had a triple room, and our luggage took up a fair bit of space. However, one great feature of the room is the 'three-part separation' bathroom, where the sink, toilet, and shower are completely separate, which is very convenient and prevents any disturbance. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful. All in all, it's a good value-for-money hotel, convenient for checking in or for exploring the Shijo area."

"Extremely satisfied with this hotel. Traveling with elderly parents and children, we landed in Osaka and headed straight to Kyoto, so we chose a hotel within walking distance from the station, making it easy to manage our luggage. It's only a three-minute walk from the train station (you can see it right after exiting and turning right). The room, while not huge, was incredibly cozy and didn't feel cheap like some budget hotels. The staff were very friendly; my partner loves tea and would ask for extra water daily, which they always provided for free. During our stay, we rarely saw other Chinese guests; it was mostly Western and local guests, and breakfast was always quiet. There are tons of restaurants near the hotel (a sushi place within a five-minute walk was super delicious and great value for money). Plus, there's Isetan department store right next to the station for shopping – it couldn't be more convenient! A taxi from the hotel to Kiyomizu-dera Temple cost about 1800 JPY, and to Takashimaya, it was roughly the same price. At 9 PM, you can enter the station and take the escalator to the top for a free panoramic view of Kyoto's nightscape. All in all, I'm very satisfied and would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit."

"The hotel room is on the smaller side, typical of a budget hotel. They charge extra for room cleaning and towel changes, beyond just emptying the trash. You also have to pick up tea bags and toothbrushes at the front desk yourself. However, the location is excellent! There's a popular BBQ joint right across the street, plenty of small restaurants nearby, and it's not far from Hanamikoji Street or Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Plus, it's very close to the main commercial thoroughfare. Overall, it's super convenient for sightseeing, dining, and entertainment."

"The location is a bit of a walk from Marutamachi subway station, which might be tough depending on the weather and how much luggage you have. However, the facilities themselves were incredibly clean and well-maintained – from the sleeping capsules, washrooms, toilets, and shower rooms, all the way to the large public bath. Everything was spotless and very comfortable. The amenities provided were also excellent! The lobby was full of fun touches and great services; a friend who stayed elsewhere even said, 'I should have stayed here!' she was so envious. Most of the guests in the sleeping capsules were international, but everyone was respectful, and I didn't experience any noise issues at all. The front desk staff were all so kind, polite, and provided perfect service. I'll definitely be staying here again next time I'm in Kyoto. Thank you so much!"

"The hotel is very quiet and secluded, with its own small forest, perfect for a relaxing stroll after dinner. Even though it was late in the autumn foliage season, the maple leaf atmosphere was still present. It's a pity the red leaves outside our room window were a bit sparse. The service was excellent, and they even delivered different desserts every evening. The afternoon tea was exquisite, and the snow crab kaiseki dinner was truly delicious. It's a great place, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day stay."

"The hotel has a large public bath, vending machines, an ice maker, and a water dispenser on the first floor. After a relaxing bath, you can grab some Haagen-Dazs nearby. The room was decent, with enough space to fully open a 28-inch suitcase. It also came with a fridge and free Wi-Fi, which was a nice touch. The only minor drawbacks were the washing machine, which took a bit too long, making it hard to find an available one upon returning to the hotel at night. The hotel's location isn't ideal; it's a bit of a walk from the subway station, but it's conveniently close to the Shijo-Nishinotoin bus stop, making bus travel easy. After check-out, the front desk doesn't provide Mitsui bottled water anymore (which might be a company-wide policy), but they did remind me that I could still get free water from the ice maker and water dispenser area on the first floor. Overall, it was a good experience!"

"Very satisfied! My classmate recommended this place after their trip last year. The room is very spacious, and it's just one stop from Kyoto Station. The hotel is a three-minute walk from the station exit and has direct access to a 7-Eleven, though it felt like the restocking wasn't always prompt. Every time I entered the room, I'd notice the lovely fragrance in the hallway, and the shower gel and shampoo also smelled amazing – I absolutely loved them! And I'm not sure if it was a mistake or intentional, but even though we only opted for eco-friendly cleaning, they still made our beds and even folded our clothes 🥺. The hotel is right next to Umekoji Park, which is great for a relaxing stroll. Dining options are a bit less convenient; it takes about twenty minutes by bus to Shijo Kawaramachi, but it's not far from various attractions. Overall, a super comfortable hotel to stay at!"

"We are highly recommend to stay in this hotel, while the location, room size, cleanliness, design, and service are excellent. Moreover, the breakfast style is enough to choose, you can either enjoy in western or Japanese style breakfast per day. And we have encountered a traffic jam issue when we are coming back from Nara Station, something bad happened and the train was suddenly stopped. So we cannot be able to back to hotel on time for retrieving our packed luggages in room. We called to the hotel and explained this unexpected situation. The staffs show understand and offered free late check out one more hour for us, we know it is not easy to have free late check out at Japan but they did treat us so well.
