The location is absolutely stunning, directly facing snow-capped mountains and a picturesque hillside. The view from our room window was simply gorgeous. It's also conveniently located right next to the train station, and you can even watch trains pass through the beautiful scenery.
## Facilities
Although the hotel is historic, it's impeccably clean and well-maintained. It beautifully combines classic charm with modern conveniences. Parking is available but costs 25 CHF per day.
## Service
Overall, the service was quite good. However, on our second day, housekeeping didn't replenish our complimentary water bottles, seemingly because we hadn't finished the ones from the previous day. When we finished them and called reception for more, we were initially told there would be a charge. After we explained that the water hadn't been refilled during cleaning, they promptly sent some up free of charge. Interestingly, the mini-bar drinks are complimentary. On a lighter note, the cleaning staff accidentally left a cleaning cloth behind, haha! Each of us also received a complimentary voucher for the evening lounge, redeemable for a drink while enjoying live piano music – a really nice touch. The pool was wonderfully empty, but unfortunately, the sauna was out of order that day.

__CFT010000000171****The room faces a dreamy hillside, making it more photogenic than many popular spots. While you have to stand in the bathtub to shower, there's a transparent glass partition, so the wet and dry areas are well separated, not as bad as some reviews on Ctrip have suggested. The room itself is quite decent, and the mini-bar is complimentary.
The breakfast was excellent, even including white wine, miso soup, rice, and chili sauce – a treat for Chinese palates!
The hotel spa was also nice, but the soaking tub wasn't very big. Try to go during off-peak hours for a better experience.
The hotel offers a free train station shuttle service; when we left, they even took us to the station in a Bentley… The hotel is actually very close to the train station, about a five-minute walk. However, if you have a lot of luggage, it's best to contact the hotel in advance for a shuttle, as Grindelwald is mountainous with many steep hills to climb.
The hotel restaurant offers different themed set menus daily. The meat fondue, highly recommended by many, was excellent; the broth had no unpleasant taste, and the meat was incredibly fresh. However, the highlight was the unlimited vegetable refills: the juicy zucchini, bell peppers, and mushrooms were the sweetest and most delicious I've had in Europe – definitely worth trying. Of course, the most amazing restaurant we ate at in town was the one at the Sunstar Hotel, about a ten-minute walk from our hotel (I think its name starts with the letter A). Their cheese fondue had no unpleasant taste and was perfect for beginners; their beef stew and bouillabaisse, among other dishes, were also delicious.
The hotel staff were also very friendly and welcoming; we didn't encounter any of the ”discrimination against Asians” mentioned in previous reviews. They even gave us bottled water and chocolate when we left. We'll definitely come back!

The hotel's decor is beautiful, and there's a spacious lounge area on the ground floor. Its location right by the train station and the availability of free parking make it incredibly convenient for guests, whether they're arriving by car or train.
I booked an Eiger-view room, and stepping onto the balcony offered a breathtaking, close-up view of the Eiger. Although the room wasn't large, it felt very cozy and warm thanks to the heating.
The breakfast selection was varied and delicious. Overall, I was extremely satisfied.

GGuest UserGrindelwald for the first time, and after four days and three nights, this place is perfect.
It's right by the bus and train stations, so you can hop off the train from Interlaken, walk through the terminal, and Eiger Lodge is right behind the parking lot.
Buses take you all around Grindelwald, even to the main street.
The terminal has a Coop, so groceries are super easy.
The hotel has an awesome view of the valley and is super clean. They have breakfast every day, and even though it's the same stuff, I still liked it.
Heads up, there's some construction going on that might block the view a little, but it's not a big deal.
I'd totally stay here again if I come back.

GGuest UserIt's only a 5-minute walk from the station. You have to climb a slightly steep hill, but from there you can see a magnificent view of Grindelwald.
The room was clean, and the breakfast served while looking at the beautiful view was exceptional. The staff were all friendly.
I would definitely stay here again if I visit again.

The view from our room's balcony was like a beautiful painting, with the majestic Eiger mountain right across. Plus, the First mountain cable car station is just a hundred meters directly opposite the hotel entrance. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, satisfying even my 'Chinese palate'. Most of the hotel staff provided great service across all departments. Housekeeping cleaned our room thoroughly every day, and the young, handsome guys in the self-service restaurant were particularly warm and proactive, making our dining experience very pleasant. The only downside was a female waitress at the hotel's cheese fondue restaurant on the first floor. She wasn't wearing a name tag, was petite, had a ponytail, medium build, and appeared to be around forty years old. Her attitude was absolutely terrible and incredibly rude! It was barely 6 PM, and over half the restaurant was clearly empty. I politely started to ask her in English, 'There are three of us...' but before I could even finish my sentence, she rolled her eyes at me, waved her hand dismissively, and loudly and impatiently blurted out in broken English, 'Full, full! It's completely full! Can't you see, there are no seats left!' It was absolutely infuriating. I've traveled to many countries, both domestically and internationally, and this is the first time I've encountered such an awful hotel staff member! And it felt very obviously discriminatory! Honestly, the fondue restaurant itself smells pretty bad, and encountering such a terrible waitress instantly diminished the beautiful scenery and our good mood. I still recommend staying at this hotel, but I advise caution when considering the smelly fondue restaurant on the first floor because of that particular waitress!

AAnonymous UserThis is an accommodation that made me cry and laugh during my trip to Switzerland :) First of all, if you look at the facilities, it is clean and nice since it was recently opened. There was an elevator and a kitchen available, but there were almost no dishes or appliances. There was no problem with cooking at all.
The location is a very far walk from Grindelwald Station, or a short bus ride away. 🌟Throw away the idea of walking with your luggage on the first day.🌟 This is a vertical hike that you can never climb without carrying your luggage. Be sure to check the bus schedule before taking the bus (it's convenient to use the SBB app). Your accommodation will give you a Grindelwald guest card, so you can ride the bus for free. (I had a Jungfrau VIP coupon, so I didn’t use it.)
The reasons I cried were:
1) As soon as I arrived, there was no one, so I called and waited for about an hour, but no one answered and didn't come. There were people staying, so I had to wait in the lobby. I had another number on my laptop, so I called, but no one answered.
2) While I was waiting, a man called and asked why I was calling. When I told him I wanted to check in, he said I was fully booked for today, so what did I mean? I told him my reservation number and he said he would understand. Later, he came running in from outside and asked for my passport. Didn't say a single word of apology. (I was very angry here.) Anyway, in conclusion, he said that there was a reservation history on Trip.com but not in his system, so he had me check it and said he would do something about it since there were no rooms available. However, his attitude was not that he was sorry and was trying to do something, but rather that he was annoyed with me.
3) In the end, they gave us our room keys condescendingly, as if they had made it very difficult for us to get a room, and we were very upset that they were sorry for waiting for an hour and that there was no compensation, but we wanted to rest in the room quickly, so we brought the keys up. However, as shown in the picture, they gave me a room without a terrace... Obviously, the room I paid for had a terrace on the reservation screen, and I made the reservation with that in mind, so when I went to argue with them, they said that the room I had reserved was that room.
(I was told that it was given to me because I had created a room, but when I went down and inquired, I found out that the room was originally assigned...)
4) Then, while showing a picture of the reservation screen on 'Booking.com', he enthusiastically emphasizes that the room may or may not have a terrace. The problem is that I paid through 'Trip.com' and the room type I booked on Trip.com is not available. All photos showed a terrace. When I said that, he got very angry and told me to cancel it for free and to leave if I didn't like it.
To be honest, these words sounded very threatening to me, and I was so intimidated by the man's attitude that I was afraid that he might do something to me. I sometimes wonder if they are speaking in such a threatening manner because I am a woman and Asian.
[I notified Booking.com's customer service center of my move, and now the reservation screen for the room I selected also includes a photo of a room without a terrace.]
Anyway, for this reason, I started my trip to Switzerland very angry and depressed. ㅠ ㅠ
This room does not have a terrace and has a tree view, as someone left in a Google review... lol Next time I go again, I think I'll just choose the room one level up because I'm worried about getting this room.
Also, the toilet and bathroom were attached together, so it was shared by 3 rooms. Please note.

AAnonymous UserLocated quite far uphill and far from train station, you will rely on bus 122 to reach / leave the hostel, which only operates until around 6pm. The view from the hostel is not bad, with quite a large outdoor area. The building itself is an old wooden structure and it is very easy to hear the noise from other rooms. Only two toilets / shower rooms per gender per floor but so far it is ok. Just be reminded that there is no individual electric socket for each bed and the lamp above the bed does not seem to work.

DDariaThe hotel was located in the middle of the hill, just like many of the hotels in Grindelwald. There was free bus in the area so it was easy getting up and down. Yet, the bus service stops at around 6 or 7pm, and you will have to walk up the hill from the train station for about 20 minutes. Also, potentially because it was in the middle of the mountain or it was winter, it felt very dry in the middle of the night. It would be nice if there can be a humidifier in the room.
However, the view of the room is absolutely worth it. You can look at mountains like Eigerblick just from your room and the breakfast buffet, and it is extremely breathtaking.
The breakfast buffet included was decent, with fruits, bread, cereal, some hot food and drinks. In particular the eggs were very nicely done.
The bathroom looks a bit old-fashioned and narrow, with slightly insufficient lighting, but overall it was clean and good.
The service was generally good. We were greeted with great smiles and friendliness by the reception and staff at the breakfast buffet.
Overall it was an amazing stay and I would recommend it:)
