XXiaoyadaochukankanI come to Okinawa almost every winter for vacation and have stayed at many ocean-view hotels here. Halekulani Okinawa stands out for both its significant strengths and weaknesses. **Pros:** (1) As a newly built hotel, the facilities are much newer than other hotels. The rooms even have smart tablets to conveniently book restaurants and check out various amenities. (2) Although the restaurant prices are noticeably higher than other hotels, the quality of both the buffet and à la carte restaurants, and even room service, is excellent and worth the price. (3) The service is very good. If you're taking public transportation when checking out, they'll even provide a car to take you to the station. (4) If you skip breakfast, you can change it to lunch, which is convenient for those who like to sleep in. **Cons:** This seems to be a common issue with Western hotel brands. Halekulani Okinawa, along with two other Hilton hotels here, shares the following problems. I believe this might stem from differences in Western brands' operational philosophies. However, for a hotel like Halekulani, which costs more than double other ocean-view hotels, these shortcomings are quite unacceptable. (1) The hotel lacks a well-stocked convenience store and souvenir shop. Other Japanese-owned ocean-view resort hotels usually have one or two such stores with a wide variety of items. Here, there's only one shop selling some Halekulani branded merchandise and a very limited selection of ”eco-friendly, natural” snacks, with hardly any beverages. If you want something to eat, you have to walk a few hundred meters outside the hotel to a chain convenience store. (2) The mini-bar drinks in the room are chargeable, and the prices are 4-5 times higher than at outside convenience stores. Considering this hotel is 2-3 times more expensive than others, and many other hotels often offer free mini-bars, this difference is quite significant. The main issue is the lack of an internal convenience store, forcing guests to frequently go out to a convenience store a few hundred meters away for a wider selection of drinks and snacks. Not to mention, it's truly unpleasant to go out when it's rainy or windy. For someone like me who enjoys staying at a comfortable and convenient hotel for several days or even a week, it's hard to stay long if a resort can't meet all my needs in one place. (3) The price for the self-service laundry and dryer (700/800 JPY) is also about three times higher than at other local ocean-view hotels (200/300 JPY). While the hotel's price is more than double that of others, the convenience and comfort aren't significantly higher (aside from newer facilities). Coupled with a mini-bar and self-service laundry that are several times more expensive, and the need to go outside to buy necessities due to the lack of an on-site convenience store, it feels like they're trying too hard to squeeze every penny. It's more suitable for a short, 'check-the-box' experience rather than a prolonged, relaxing stay. The quality of the seawater is also just average compared to hotels in Onna Village and Cape Zanpa.

HHeeseung LeeI was very satisfied with both the food and the service. The dinner course was so delicious, I'd definitely want to eat it again! The restaurant manager was very entertaining and I learned a lot about Okinawa, which made it a fun experience. However, it's a bit disappointing that the public bath and spa are not complimentary. Including them in the price so guests can use them anytime might increase satisfaction. Also, having cleansing oil in the room would be a great help for female guests!

MMatsuriまつりAn absolutely fantastic vacation experience! First off, the hotel's location is super convenient. You can get here directly from the airport by limousine bus or OAS, and from the moment I stepped off the bus, the welcome was impeccable. I didn't have to touch my luggage once the entire time. The front desk staff were lovely and explained everything thoroughly, and my room assignment was excellent. My room was spacious with an incredible ocean view. I fell asleep and woke up every day to the sound of the waves. Pulling back the curtains revealed a 'jellyfish sea' – it truly felt like my ideal life. Plus, there's a bathtub in the room, and bath salts were replenished daily, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. I also have to rave about the hotel breakfast. You can scan a QR code to join the queue, and then head to the restaurant when it's almost your turn – so convenient. Both days I chose the buffet restaurant; the variety was great, and the ingredients were fresh. Enjoying breakfast while looking out at the ocean was an absolutely perfect experience. Overall, highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserThis was my second stay at this hotel, and it's definitely one I'd recommend. However, it does have quite a few drawbacks. First off, the service is just okay. Some staff members are quite lazy and have a bad attitude – you have to ask them three times before they do anything. Also, when I was checking in, I had my hands full with bags and a suitcase, and they just stood there watching. They didn't offer any help at all, and then asked me to sign something. My phone was in a bag, so if they had just helped me with my luggage, I could have freed up a hand to sign. Secondly, the soundproofing is terrible. I could hear every word from the room next door as if they were speaking right beside me! Also, many people have mentioned that the rooms are too bright, and it's true. The lights from outside shine directly in at night, mainly because the curtains are too thin. On the positive side, the beach is beautiful, with some of the best sand in Onna Village. The hotel's outdoor public areas are also aesthetically pleasing, with beautiful plant and flower arrangements. Breakfast offers an average variety, but the taste is decent. There's a fishing port nearby, and as soon as you step out, you'll find tons of restaurants with plenty of delicious food. It's a top choice in Onna Village. If you're bothered by older properties, you might want to reconsider, as this hotel is over 50 years old. However, it's very well-maintained! Plus, the rooms don't have wall-to-wall carpeting, so there's less dust. Overall, it's my first choice for a stay in Onna Village. If you prioritize the room and interior design, you could choose the Hotel Monterey next door – its interiors are much better, but its beach is very average. Choose Hotel Monterey if you prioritize the room; choose here if you prioritize the beach.

DDuoerbamaI still vividly remember their 30th-anniversary celebration. Other than the outdated facilities, everything else was impeccable, especially the Executive Lounge – it was absolutely perfect! Great views, excellent food, and an even better atmosphere. I really hope the hotel renovates its facilities soon; it would be a shame to waste such a prime location!

CChilunThe hotel is located on Kouri Island, with a very nice view of Kouri Bridge. The room is large and equipped with cooking utensils. It can accommodate many people. The cleaning time was very random and did not follow the schedule, and the hotel staff came into the room to clean without prior notice. I was a bit dissatisfied. Since I had notified the hotel through Trip.com before departure that I would arrive very late, but when I arrived, I found that the front desk was closed, and there was no prior notice from Trip.com or the hotel about the key collection arrangements, which made my group very panic. Fortunately, I found Trip.com customer service to find the password. Thank you to the customer service and compensation for helping me handle it that day.

CcjessieThe hotel is new and clean overall. The breakfast is Chinese style, with a wide selection and decent taste. The jacuzzi in the room is great, and bath salts are readily available in the lobby. The only downside is that the hotel doesn't have any other facilities besides the swimming pool. It cost over 2,000 yuan per night when I booked, which is on the expensive side.

GGuest UserEverything was perfect, staff was kind and helpfull, food was very good for both breakfast and dinner, the location is amazing and we were often completly alone on their private beach (as it might've been too cold for the locals). Lots of nice and cozy restaurants arpund the hotel as well, you can get there by ”airport bus limousine”, when you're not acustomedto.how it works it looks a little scary but just go to the counter when you arrive to the airport and they'll help you out! Just know that you're in zone B Onna Village, make sure to vheck the time of departure online beforehand as you might need to sleep a noght in Naha if you arrive too late. Theres also a lot of activities nearby, I greatly recommend the snorkling/scooba diving.

GGuest UserFebruary 2026 I'm not sure why the negative reviews, but as a couple, we thought the hotel was great! It's a room to stay, of course having the most updated facilities would be great, but are you really worried about that so much? In any case, decorations aside, the beds were comfy and there was a lot of space in the room. The bathroom was great and there's an anti-fog spot right next to the sink so that was nice. I guess the only ”complaint” was that sometimes the shower water was inconsistent, but because we shower together, it was kind of a nice ”you get your turn and I get mine” There's a small fridge which was good to store drinks and some snacks for the hikes we had in the area. The location was good for us as we spent a lot of time driving around the north part of the island. It had a decent view of the seaside. The pool wasn't filled as it was winter during our stay, but honestly it was fine. Sure, not a bar in the actual hotel, but who would really want to go and get overpriced drinks in ANY hotel anyway? We did the breakfast package, and honestly thought there were plenty to get. A little mix of east and west, but it was a great start to each of our days. Maybe a little overpriced, but still good. We did one dinner night, that was probably over-priced, BUT it was all you can eat on some great slices of beef. Lots of desserts and different types of food. There was also a small selection of spirits and drinks that you could have with your meal. Other than that, it was a nice stay. Service was great. Would stay again if I was doing a similar itinerary, but since we did most of everything we wanted to in the area, would probably stay in a different area anyway.
