"Before coming to Hongcun, I didn't have high expectations, thinking it would just be another old village to visit and leave. However, my stay at 'Hongcun Yike Homestay' made me feel that every detail of this trip radiated warmth. Upon arriving at Hongcun bus station, I was unfamiliar with the area and was stressing about how to drag my luggage across the stone-paved paths to the homestay while looking at a map. The moment I called, the owner's enthusiastic voice immediately put me at ease: 'Wait there, I'll be right over to pick you up!' In less than ten minutes, the owner appeared on an electric scooter, swiftly tied my luggage to the vehicle, and cheerfully motioned for me to hop on. We weaved through Hongcun's winding alleys and past bustling crowds of tourists. The homestay was tucked away in a quiet lane near Moon Pond, an excellent location. You could see Moon Pond just around the corner, yet it was peaceful and quiet – truly an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Stepping into the courtyard, I was captivated by this homestay, a renovated Huizhou-style building. The exquisitely carved porch, wooden corridors, and rustic private courtyard exuded the unique elegance and serenity characteristic of Huizhou homes. Inside the room, it was bright and clean. The antique-style wooden bed paired with a soft mattress offered both classic charm and comfort. The night was exceptionally quiet, and I slept soundly. Early the next morning, I opened the window to a beautiful view of the Huizhou-style horse-head walls in the morning light, distant mountains draped in lush greenery, and the nearby sounds of birdsong and fragrant flowers. It truly felt like living inside a traditional Chinese ink wash painting. On the day of my departure, the owner drove me to the bus station as usual, reminding me of other places I hadn't visited in Hongcun along the way. Before saying goodbye, the owner pulled out a packet of chrysanthemum tea from the trunk, handed it to me, and smiled, saying, 'This is our local chrysanthemum tea, take it home and try it.' Holding that packet of tea, my heart felt warm. Staying here truly felt like returning to an old friend's home in Huizhou, thoughtful and considerate in every way. 'Yike Homestay' truly lives up to its name – making one feel 'at ease' (逸) and so content that guests (客) forget to leave. Next time I'm in Hongcun, I'll definitely stay here again."

"The hotel's location is excellent, less than a 10-minute walk to the main attractions. The hotel itself has a serene atmosphere, with a beautiful Jiangnan garden-style setting. You could easily spend a comfortable and peaceful day just relaxing in the courtyard with a cup of tea, without even needing to visit the sights. The cleanliness standards are on par with a five-star hotel, and they thoughtfully provide two types of slippers. The service is very attentive; they offer shuttle service to and from the parking lot, and are both welcoming and discreet. The front desk lady was especially kind, giving detailed directions."

"This guesthouse is a must-stay when visiting Hongcun to see the Huizhou-style architecture. Its location is absolutely superb, within walking distance of all the popular photo spots, making it super easy to plan your sightseeing. The courtyard is elegant and spotless, and the guest rooms are even cleaner and tidier. The attention to detail in cleanliness is truly impressive; there's no clutter or stains anywhere. It's an old house conversion that beautifully preserves its ancient charm while maintaining excellent living standards. My stay here was a perfect experience!"

"This hotel is super close to the South Gate, and the staff, especially the ladies, are incredibly warm and attentive. The room was very clean, and while the window faces the street, there's a bit of noise in the morning, but it's fine if you're heading out early anyway. The room gets good light too. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, which is great. The complimentary tremella soup was delicious and not too sweet. It's really convenient to be able to grab water from the dispenser right by the hotel entrance. The laundry room is on the first floor, which was perfect for washing all our clothes after hiking Huangshan in the summer. Breakfast is a set menu, but the portions are generous and the food is tasty. The hotel also provides contact info for electric scooter rentals, and you can pick up the scooter directly at the South Gate for a daily rental, which is super convenient for exploring nearby attractions."

"Location: The hotel is situated within the Xidi Scenic Area. Upon check-in, each room receives two complimentary adult tickets to Xidi, with each adult ticket allowing one child to enter for free. The tickets are valid for 3 days, meaning a family of two adults and two children staying here can enjoy free entry to the scenic area. Facilities: The hotel boasts excellent facilities. The bathroom amenities and bedding are of good quality, and the decor has a charming traditional aesthetic. The complimentary items provided, such as the peach wood comb, toiletries, towels, and cotton-linen slippers, are all of high quality. It feels like you're bringing home a lot of lovely souvenirs after just one stay! Service: The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, always greeting guests with a smile and patiently resolving any issues. Breakfast is quite generous, and in the evenings, they even provide complimentary chilled mung bean soup and Bingfen (a local dessert) when you return to your room. Environment: The hotel is nestled amidst ancient architecture and traditional gardens. Staying here allows you to truly appreciate the distinctive black tiles, white walls, and blue bricks of Huizhou's ancient buildings. I only wish I could have stayed for a few more days!"

"This guesthouse is absolutely gorgeous, almost like a hotel, but with so much more warmth and character. The whole place smells amazing, I even looked up the diffuser to buy one for my home. My 15-year-old 'old baby' (dog) wasn't at her best though; she snatched a piece of stinky tofu someone left on the side of the road on our way back from Hongcun, which led to a messy accident in the corridor – I was so embarrassed! ***She also broke a glass in the room, but the staff cleaned it up without a hint of annoyance. Besides the dog, my human companion wasn't much help either; my husband forgot the room key twice, once early in the morning, but the staff were always so welcoming and helpful, it made me wonder if I should tip them. I've traveled with my old baby around Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai for years, and this place ranks among the best! It's a ten-minute walk from Hongcun. My old baby was too tired to walk back, so we took a motorized pedicab for ten yuan."

"The public areas are particularly impressive. There's a dedicated movie viewing area, roasted sweet potatoes, a free Hanfu (traditional Han clothing) changing area, and a workspace. Breakfast is also available on the third-floor balcony. This breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. While the selection wasn't extensive, the taste was excellent. The soy milk was delicious, and they also offered freshly made wontons or bamboo shoot noodles. The third-floor terrace had a fantastic view; you could see the waters of Qishu Lake. During my stay, they even offered white fungus and pear soup. On the day we left, it was so crowded we couldn't get a taxi, and the owner personally took us to the station. Overall, the hotel's decor is aesthetically pleasing. The public areas are large and spacious, the rooms are clean, and the bedding is nice and comfortable. Our family room had a view of a bamboo forest, giving us a feeling of being close to nature. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends or choose it again for my next stay."

"It's quite close to Hongcun, and there's a small path through the village. The guesthouse has beautiful rose bushes planted behind it. The room was clean and odor-free, and there's an elevator. The only downside is that there was only one mahjong table room and we couldn't reserve it. Parking is available right outside the guesthouse."

"Tan She is definitely worth a stay. 1. The entire architectural style is Huizhou, but I also feel it incorporates Song dynasty elements. Every few steps reveal a new scenic view, making it truly enjoyable to explore. Each functional area is meticulously designed. Watching a movie on the B1 floor at night is incredibly relaxing, and the rooftop infinity pool offers stunning views over many small villages – it's a fantastic experience. 2. The hotel staff are very polite, enthusiastic, and genuinely considerate of guests. 3. The hotel's breakfast offers a rich variety of Chinese, Western, and Cantonese options, and the quality is excellent. If I visit again, I would still choose Tan She."

"The hosts tried to get in touch with me before I checked in but I couldn’t receive due to not having a local number. The hosts will very kindly arrange a pickup/drop off for you as the homestay is located outside of the key scenic area so definitely try to get in touch with them before your arrival (or else, expect to walk about 15 minutes from the main bus station - it’s not too bad honestly) The hosts were super kind and the lady boss was so nice to invite me to her tea shop in the main village to drink some tea before driving me back. The room was quiet and amenities were super great! Highly recommend if you like a quiet space."
