Want to capture the 'blue hour' of Yueyao (Moon Pool) without an early start? I recommend staying here. It's just a one-minute walk around the corner. I went out at 5:30 AM, and Yueyao was completely empty. The 'blue hour' with calm water is fleeting, and most people who hurried over from a distance missed it. There's also a three-story rooftop terrace at Courtyard No. 2 next door, where you can get a good shot of the rooftops.

It was a very nice guesthouse experience. Since I wasn't sure about the room types, I didn't book the main courtyard. Although the second courtyard was also nice, the main courtyard's Hui-style architecture had more charm, and the owner's attention to detail was evident in every design element. I'd love to experience the main courtyard next time. The guesthouse's homemade osmanthus black tea was delicious, and chatting and drinking tea in the courtyard in the evening was especially pleasant.

The service is really attentive ❤️. Before staying at the hotel, the housekeeper will come in advance and add WeChat to set up a WeChat service group, inform the location, and come to greet you. When delivering, he also gave you a souvenir handmade in the store. The children and elders all enjoyed their stay. We could see the starry sky in our room at night. The children were very surprised and kept asking if they could continue to stay here tomorrow? ! The room is consistent with the picture of the reservation. The special mountain spring water and welcome dinner in the store are very considerate. The breakfast is also 10 kinds of which are very balanced and rich. The welcome dog Wangzai is very cute. He greets and sees off guests, and the overall impression is wonderful. Very good impression. I will stay here again next time I come to Hongcun.

However, the downside is that during the day, many tourists pass by and even enter the courtyard to take pictures, making it very noisy. It's almost impossible to get some rest or a quick nap indoors during the day. In contrast, it's very quiet at night, and the ambiance is excellent. The distinctive Huizhou architectural style is prominent, and overall it's quite good. The owner also arranges for an uncle to pick up guests and luggage from the bus station, and their responses are very prompt. Courtyard No. 2 is only a five-minute walk from Yueyao Pond and the Ancestral Temple, making it ideal for early risers to snap photos before the crowds arrive.

Zhang Mansion is much more than just a hotel: it is an authentic experience inside an ancient traditional mansion, perfectly immersed in the historic atmosphere of Hongcun. It almost feels like being transported back in time, into the quiet and refined beauty of China from several centuries ago. The interiors are full of charm, history, and character, and staying here allows you to experience the village in a much deeper way than a simple day visit. The atmosphere is calm, evocative, and almost cinematic. A very sweet detail: the property’s cat and dog are genuinely lovely and add an even warmer, more memorable touch to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic, romantic, and timeless stay.

The room was very clean, and the toiletries were good. The air conditioning was incredibly powerful; even with temperatures at 38-39 degrees Celsius, it could make you shiver! The host picked us up from the parking lot when we arrived and also dropped us off when we left, showing great hospitality. Although it's on the very edge of the village, it's only a few minutes' walk from the center of Yuezao, which is very convenient.

Traveling with 2 of my friends on a fun girls trip! This was such an amazing location. We went from a sad and boring hotel in Beijing to this fantastic location and suddenly the whole trip was more fun and much more interesting. The host met us at the entrance to Hongcun and carried our luggage in the back of his little vehicle as we followed him around quaint buildings and through a narrow cobblestone walkway which was perfect for walking and pretty impressive to drive thru without scratching anything. After the beautiful walk we came through the most beautiful circle archway and into the cutest courtyard. We rented the room with a queen bed downstairs and 2 full beds up in the loft. The rooms were so cute we had to hide our luggage to do a full video tour to show our families before unpacking. The beds have mattress toppers which helped soften up the beds for us Americans. The host was very helpful and I would suggest getting WeChat to translate if you don’t speak Chinese. I don’t but it was easy to communicate. I would definitely stay at here again. Highly recommended!

The courtyard is tranquil and elegant, perfect for enjoying tea, daydreaming, or chatting, savoring the slow pace of life. The rooms are warm and comfortable, with large windows bringing the scenery indoors; lying in bed watching the clouds drift by is incredibly therapeutic. The service is genuine and unpretentious; the owner is warm and talkative, sharing stories of Hongcun and recommending off-the-beaten-path photo spots and authentic local cuisine. In the morning, you can capture the reflection of the ancient village when no one is around; in the evening, watch the sunset cast its glow on the horse-head walls from the terrace; and at night, gaze at the dazzling starry sky. Here, mountains and water, ancient villages, courtyards, streams, starry skies, and sweet dreams—everything you could want is here.
