"This was the most pleasant surprise hotel on our trip to Izu! When I booked online, there were no twin rooms available, so I reserved a king-sized room. Upon arrival, I spoke with the front desk, and they graciously switched us to a Japanese-style room for a small additional fee. The decor was lovely, and the breakfast was excellent. The best part was the hotel's seven private onsen baths, available on a first-come, first-served basis. We enjoyed them twice! Highly recommended."

I suspect even the hot water in the rooms comes from the hot springs. Dinner was excellent, served semi-buffet style. Each person orders one drink and one main course, while appetizers and desserts are self-service. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus to the Shuzenji train station, specifically bus stop #8. The last two pictures show the vehicle and its schedule."

The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with thoughtful amenities. Staff were friendly and provided great service throughout our stay. The food was delicious, especially the fresh local ingredients. Overall, it’s a fantastic place for a relaxing getaway. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a serene spa resort in Japan. "The hot springs were very nice, and the food was delicious. The facilities are old, but I suppose that can't be helped; they'll have to be completely renovated or rebuilt. The musty smell everywhere was a real problem. However, what's really disappointing is the lack of consideration for the guests. Two typhoons were predicted, so the day before my stay I called and asked if I could change my dates. Not a cancellation, but a change. They told me that they couldn't do it now because they had already started preparations. I was disappointed, but I went out in the heavy rain. That night the rain got heavier, and the next day I received an email from the inn in Izu Kogen that I had booked, saying, "Please don't push yourself, and we won't charge you a cancellation fee this time because of the circumstances." I think that was a sincere response that considered the guest's perspective. The next morning, when I checked out and told them about the response from the inn in Izu Kogen, they said that other guests didn't cancel, but I don't think that's a valid reason. I wasn't keen on going. Also, the innkeeper said that this amount of rain would be fine, but I'm not a local, so I don't know that. I drove there, and I was worried because I had read on the news that there was a possibility of road closures. I was given a 5000 yen refund, but I don't think that was the right thing to do. I booked through Jalan, but for some reason it was treated as a cancellation after check-out. I would like the feelings of the customers to be respected."

"The buildings are connected by cottages, but we weren't bothered at all by the noise or gaze of our neighbors. The surrounding roads were also quiet, allowing us to relax. Meals are not served buffet-style; instead, they are served in the dining room in turn. Because you eat slowly, you'll be completely full. Given the location, the seafood hot pot with sea bream and the sashimi were delicious. For breakfast, you can choose between Japanese or Western style♪ We chose Japanese, and the rice was cooked in a traditional kamado (rice cooker), which was truly delicious! While the individual dishes for dinner and breakfast were small, there was a wide variety of side dishes. The price is a little on the higher side, but we were 80% satisfied!"

"Overall, I'm quite satisfied. There were many thoughtful touches that I appreciated. For instance, the receptionist took the time to explain all the hotel's amenities one by one. Secondly, there was complimentary tea available, and before dinner, some Oden-like snacks were offered. In the morning, you could pick up free milk (two flavors: plain milk and coffee milk, both delicious). At certain times, you could also get free Yakult at a designated spot. The hotel has both indoor and outdoor onsen (hot springs), so you can choose whichever you prefer. To be honest, the room itself was just so-so. However, the cleanliness was good. You take off your shoes when you enter the hotel and wear hotel slippers throughout. In the room, you walk barefoot. The toilet and shower in the room were separate but very small. But in Japan, if you want large and good separate areas, the price would be much higher."

"Even though traveling solo felt a bit lonely, the overall experience exceeded my expectations – it was absolutely perfect. Everything from the ambiance and facilities to the service and food was impeccable. It's clear why this 150-year-old onsen ryokan has such an allure; I now understand why literary greats like Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Yasunari Kawabata chose to stay here. They have four public baths, each with its own unique charm, and they rotate access between men and women at different times. If you plan it right, you can experience all four even with just an overnight stay. Dinner was a kaiseki meal served in my room between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The food was good, but the pace was very slow, and I actually started to feel sleepy towards the end. The paper hotpot tofu for breakfast was a unique and delightful touch. A taxi from Shuzenji Station took about five minutes and cost less than 100 RMB. I truly hope to have the chance to stay here again in the future."

"We stayed here for our first family trip in a long time. We were shocked by the huge difference between our expectations, based on the photos and reviews, and our experience. Here are the disappointing points: ① There were more than 10 stink bugs in the room. We called the front desk and they came to exterminate them, but ultimately we ended up removing them all ourselves. It was hellish because they kept reappearing no matter how many we removed. The hotel staff seemed to think it was normal and even laughed about it. They were definitely there while we slept, and the room smelled strongly of stink bugs. ② Continuing with the insect story, there were insects everywhere, even outside the room—in the hallways, elevator, and stairs. Spiders, crickets? And all sorts of other insects. It's best not to look at the walls. ③ The food was absolutely terrible. We had high expectations based on reviews saying the dinner was delicious, but we left more than half of it. We also had breakfast included, which we regretted. We wanted to leave the hotel as soon as possible. We were looking forward to the hot springs, but there was no way we could get in surrounded by insects, so we didn't bathe even once. Recommended for those who like insects!"

"The room offered a direct view of Mount Fuji, and it was quite spacious. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the service was top-notch. However, the biggest issue was a strong, unpleasant curry smell in the room. I asked the front desk to switch rooms, but the new one also had the same curry odor. There seem to be a lot of South Asian guests here; I noticed many during check-in. I suspect they might have cooked something in the rooms, and the smell just won't go away. I hope future guests don't get unlucky and end up with one of these rooms when they check in."

"I was very bothered by the dust and moldy smell. There was a tub bath in the room, but the balcony was covered in spider webs, which was painful for me as I hate spiders. All the staff seemed to be foreigners, but they were very friendly. It's an old facility, so it can't be helped to a certain extent, but it was disappointing that there were several times when I felt it was too much. The bath was empty, so I was very satisfied. As for the food, it was more delicious than a bad buffet and I was satisfied."
