Here's my review: **1. Breakfast: 7/10.** Definitely better than Atour or Hualuxe, but the Western selection isn't what you'd typically find in a luxury hotel. They had some pre-sliced ham that was decent. There was also an à la carte menu on the table with items like salmon and eggs, which suggests the owner initially aimed for a super high-end offering, but you get what you pay for. **2. Hardware: 7.5/10.** The public areas are pretty good; for a 5-diamond hotel, it's decent. It doesn't quite reach 5-star luxury standards, though. Many areas use a dark green, faux-marble material that looks quite textured. This faux-stone texture is similar to what you'd find at the Wyndham Grand Yichang, InterContinental Xiangyang, and Conrad Chongqing, but the details aren't as refined. The mattress is quite supportive, not soft, which I really like – similar to JW Marriott and Wanda hotels. The linens are decent. The mini-bar was empty, and they use Yibao bottled water. The slippers have thick soles and are very good; I asked for two pairs when I left. **3. Service:** First, a shout-out to the service. The hotel gave me complimentary souvenirs upon check-in and check-out without asking for a good review. The service during breakfast, item delivery, and changing rooms for a late-night check-in was all very good. The most basic room type has a projector, so if that's an issue for you, book a room above the base category. Now for the downsides. Firstly, the soundproofing is average, which is a common issue with most non-luxury hotels. Thankfully, the location isn't super busy, so I slept well at night. The location is okay; it's not far from Kunming Station, and there's an internet café about 100 meters away. Oh, and the headboard decoration in the guest rooms resembles a certain hotel in Shenzhen, which is quite nice. The hotel's swimming pool and the third-floor terrace garden are relatively ordinary, not as impressive as the lobby. Overall, I'd still recommend it for those who aren't too picky about their accommodation, especially since it's affordable.

This hotel is quite good – clean and hygienic, with a smart 'Xiao Du' assistant and even a washing machine. The environment is beautiful and comfortable. Right outside is a night market street, and it's very close to the subway station, making travel convenient. It's definitely worth staying at, and I recommend it to everyone. I'll book here again next time.

Hilton Garden Inn Kunming🏨 A newly-emerged Instagrammable spot with Southeast Asian vibes! This time in Kunming, I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Kunming South, near Kunming Railway Station. It's right in the heart of Kunming, like the city's gently beating pulse. With buildings rising and falling, and traffic flowing back and forth, you can truly feel the modern vibrancy of Kunming here. It's about a 10-minute walk from Wujiaba Metro Station, and not far from Cuihu Lake or Nanping Street, making it convenient for dining, accommodation, and transportation. The breakfast offers a healthy and comfortable mix of meats and vegetables, along with local specialties like Erkuai, roasted milk tea, and freshly cooked noodle soup. The room facilities are also quite modern and connected. It's comfortable whether you're binge-watching shows in bed or lounging on the sofa. The body lotion has a very sophisticated scent, which is instantly relaxing. High-floor rooms offer great views, perfect for a leisurely tea or reading session. The hotel has a gym and a self-service laundry room, so your clothes can always stay clean and fresh. Plus, the panoramic night view of Kunming from the 52nd floor is absolutely stunning and very relaxing!

Traveling to Yunnan with friends, Kunming was our last stop, and we chose the Howard Johnson Life Hotel Kunming. Our stay exceeded expectations. The location is superb, making it very convenient to visit the Mushuihua Mushroom Market and Shuangqiao Night Market. The room was clean and tidy, the mattress was comfortable, and the entire room featured smart controls. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. The hotel has its own courtyard, a laundry room, and a gym, and parking is convenient for those driving. The front desk staff thoughtfully provided us with complimentary breakfast, which had a rich variety of dishes. The service was warm and attentive, and the environment was quiet. This hotel is perfect for anyone visiting Kunming. Highly recommended!

We had everything needed for a comfortable stay and will certainly stay at this hotel again when we return to Kunming. The skin friendly bedding felt wonderful, plus the quietness of the room ensured a great night's sleep. We have visited China four times in a single year—such was the fascination the country sparked in us right from our first trip; China's history, people, and culture are truly a wonder of the world. Despite our deep admiration and fascination with the country, we faced a major challenge regarding food. As retired seniors who travel frequently, avoiding fatty or sugary foods; furthermore, we cannot eat spicy dishes, as they upset our stomachs. Therefore, having a small kitchen in the room—equipped with an electric kettle and pan —was the best feature a hotel could offer, allowing us to prepare at least one meal a day that was neither fatty nor spicy. We are grateful to the owner.

The hotel environment is great, and there are many convenient dining options nearby, which was perfect for entertaining friends. The room was quiet, the shower had excellent water pressure, and the internet speed was very fast. When they were cleaning, they heard we were tourists and thoughtfully gave us extra bottles of water. The breakfast was incredibly rich, almost like a five-star experience, with a wide variety of dishes. The staff were warm and served with a smile. The food tasted good and had local specialties. Highly recommended! The hotel is also very close to the train station, making it quick to catch high-speed rail. The front desk staff were incredibly efficient and professional and even gave us a small gift. The lobby bar has a good selection of coffee, and it tastes great. From check-in to breakfast to the care received at check-out, the hotel offered a five-star quality experience. It's definitely worth another visit.

The room is typical of a HUAZHU hotel chain, quite spacious. The stairs were a bit of a slope, which made it very inconvenient to carry luggage, but the front desk staff helped me with it, so the service was quite good. The room was next to an elevated highway, but if you close the windows, the soundproofing is excellent – you can't hear a thing. The only downside is that the room felt a bit damp, and the duvet felt a little clammy. Also, it might be a newly opened hotel because there was a slight lingering smell of renovation. Overall, it's perfectly fine as a place to rest during a layover. They even gave me a souvenir when I checked out.
