Hotels in Cuihu District, Kunming

I love the traditional decoration of the hotel, it transports you back to the ancient time. However, the car cannot go in, you have to push your luggage into the street where the hotel is located. It's very near to the big malls and walking distance to the old town. Hotel was very nice to pack our breakfast for us because we have a train to catch early in the morning and the restaurant is not open yet.

This was my first time staying at a hostel from this chain, the one near Kunming's Zhuanxin Farmers Market, and I remember it had a beautiful bougainvillea bush! I chose Qincheng Hostel again, this time picking this specific branch because it's super close to Cuihu Lake, Wenlin Street, and Yunnan University. Their restaurant offers a great variety of food and drinks, and I particularly love their curry beef rice. There are activities every day, and especially on Saturday nights, they have a concert. The singer's voice is unique and beautiful, and listening to music in their cozy bar is just the most comfortable experience. 'Hei Mu Ya' (Blackwood Cliff) is their elevated platform, nestled among huge eucalyptus trees. It's really peaceful on rainy days and nice and cool when it's hot.

This hotel boasts an excellent location, directly across from Cuihu Lake. You can easily walk to Kunming Old Street, the Yunnan Military Academy, and the former site of the National Southwestern Associated University. It's a peaceful retreat right in the heart of the city! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I especially want to highlight the breakfast – it was incredibly rich and diverse, a perfect blend of Western and Chinese dishes. They even provided complimentary welcome fruit!

A delightful stopover during our Dali trip, Van Gogh Lodge truly excels in both soft and hard amenities. The room layouts are thoughtfully designed, offering suitable options whether you're looking for scenic views or a quiet retreat. The butler service is warm and courteous, ensuring everything from check-in to relaxation is perfectly arranged. The rooms are dry and comfortable, making for a truly wonderful overall stay. Highly recommended!

The soundproofing is really poor. The conversations and door-slamming from the room next door were unbelievably loud. The bathroom door hits the sink, so you have to close the door to wash your hands, which is genuinely inconvenient. The air conditioner was clanking all night, and I didn't get any sleep. However, the front desk staff were excellent – friendly and polite. They deserve a big thumbs up.

Traveling with my parents, we received a free room upgrade. The room was clean and complimentary fruit was provided. The front desk staff, especially one young lady, was very patient and helpful. The hotel is very close to Cuihu Park and within walking distance of Kunming Old Street, which is incredibly convenient.

I stayed for 5 days in total, here are my thoughts: The hotel is beautiful, every corner is meticulously designed and heavily invested, exuding the aesthetics of 1956. It's definitely worth experiencing. It's also great for photos. Although some details in the room are a bit old and the facilities are somewhat average, the overall ambiance outweighs these shortcomings, so it's still a worthwhile choice. The service was also very attentive and excellent. The fruit platter in the room was replenished daily with various seasonal fruits, which was a thoughtful touch. In the evening, they would deliver things like white fungus soup (though we didn't drink it), but it left a very good impression. The butler was also very professional and accommodated all our needs. The pool was clean, and the longer we stayed over the 5 days, the more comfortable it became. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kunming. Additionally, I have some personal suggestions for improvement: 1. There are too few non-smoking twin rooms. We were involuntarily assigned to a smoking floor (10th floor), which they claimed had been treated to remove smoke odors. However, for the first two days, there was still a strange smell of smoke mixed with old carpet, an indescribable odor, which made it difficult to sleep well. It was quite bothersome. I hope more non-smoking floors can be added, and that room odors are thoroughly dealt with. The carpets could also be cleaned more frequently. 2. The shower is located inside the bathtub. Even with a shower curtain, water would inevitably flow over the edge of the tub, leaving the entire bathroom floor wet after showering. This was very inconvenient. We had to use towels to block the edge of the tub each time we showered, which helped a little, but water still escaped. I hope there's a way to improve this. 3. The wall near the room entrance has a thick, leather-like texture, but the surface is aged, with many pieces of the outer layer peeling off and flaking. I hope this can be improved. 4. Overall cleanliness still has room for improvement. When we first checked in, there were many water stains on the bathroom mirror! 5. The breakfast was generally delicious, but compared to other 4- and 5-star hotels, it lacked stir-fried rice and stir-fried noodles. I hope more stir-fried dishes can be added. Not everyone likes rice noodles, and if you don't eat them, the other main course options are quite limited. 6. There's no swimsuit spin dryer in the changing rooms by the pool, and the pool doesn't have lane dividers. These are points that I feel could be improved.

There is a famous morning pea rice noodles next to it. It is convenient to go to Cuihu Park. It is best to ride a shared electric car. It is also a bit far to Kunming Old Street, and the place where electric cars are allowed to be parked is a bit far away. The room is not bad, there is TV, sofa, table, chair, sound insulation is still very good.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The moment you walk in, you're struck by the stylish and beautiful design, with a color scheme that's both harmonious and pleasing to the eye. The front desk staff handled check-in efficiently and professionally, and their service was incredibly warm – their greetings and smiles were perfect. Inside the room, the bedding is comfortable and the color palette creates a cozy atmosphere. It's well-equipped, and having direct drinking water is both convenient and hygienic. The cleanliness is impeccable, truly superb. The location is great for getting around, with a metro station just 400 meters away. Excellent value for money!

Absolutely loved this room type! The room was spotless, and the staff were incredibly warm and professional. They even gave us little gifts every time we left and returned, which really shows how much care goes into the hotel's service and management. The breakfast was genuinely delicious, and the rooftop offers a nice spot to sit and enjoy a direct view of Cuihu Park. In the evenings, there's complimentary noodles available and discounted cocktails. The hotel's location is superb; you can walk right out to explore Cuihu Park and easily visit attractions like Kunming Old Street. Taxis are readily available right outside the hotel, and there are several great local spots downstairs to grab some rice noodles or other snacks. The combination of location, facilities, and service simply can't be beaten!
