"The room was small. We stayed for three days, and not once did the hot water in the bathroom work properly – it was either scorching at 80 degrees or lukewarm at 30. The hotel's own parking lot is tiny, so we had to park in a public lot 500 meters away, which cost $24.17 per day. The upside is the great location, right across the river from the museum and the business district."

It’s perfect for exploring Bilbao on foot. The room itself was stylish and clean, though quite compact. If you’re traveling light, it’s fine, but space is definitely tight. One funny (and slightly painful) moment: I actually fell off the bed! It’s positioned close to the wall and a bit narrow, so maybe not ideal if you toss and turn at night. Despite that, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe of the hotel was modern and welcoming. I’d recommend it for solo travelers or couples who don’t mind a snug space and want to be in the middle of the action."

"Best hotel I have stayed!!! Thank you very much for every detail specially for the baby. There was a cot, baby bath, all bathroom amenities for the baby and ever to milk heated! We truly appreciate this! Better hotel than 5star hotels in Barcelona, London and Madrid!!! The concierge team were so helpful too :)"

"Good hotel although far from the centre. I didn't like the attitude of the reception staff who always tried to sell me better rooms. Parking is €17 and there is no other option, so keep that in mind."

"Hotel is in a great location, close to shopping district and close to bars and eateries.  Rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom had a shower and a bath which is unusual but well received. About 20 mins in a taxi from Bilbao airport.  Service was good at check in/out.  Roof top bar is a nice offer with a variety of drinks.  I would stay here again."

"There is a bathtub but no plug. It's too difficult to open and close the window bed net. The most important point is no air conditioning. It's hot at night and I almost die. Location is not bad but on the hillside. Front is friendly but not worth the money."

"The location is very good, I feel that this is a veteran five-star hotel with a strong Basque style design. The suite I stayed in, the room was large, the view was good, and there was a garage in the ground. Maybe the room is not new enough, but it is well maintained. Next to the park, walk to the Basque Museum for 5 minutes and Guggenheim for 10 minutes. I recommend."

"We had such a great time this year for Semana Grande. And the Axel Hotel was in the perfect location for us. Right on the river next to a great spot for drinks and food. The rooftop pool is also a great spot to watch the fireworks! The staff was so helpful and friendly. And although we didn't need housekeeping while we were staying there they offered every day to clean our room or swap out towels or necessities for us. What a great experience. We will definitely be back!"
