Scenic Hotels in Coronado

"We paid $1300 for 2 nights in a king bed room with a balcony, but on arrival were assigned a ground floor unit, dark with small patio under 2nd floor balcony - on busy walkway with lots of families going by, peeking in, making noise, etc. I asked the concierge and a room agent to change but was told no balcony kings available. Finally found wonderful room agent who found room type that we were SUPPOSED to have had. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH ALL THAT HASSLE TO GET THE ROOM TYPE THAT WE HAD ORIGINALLY RESERVED! Then on checkout we found a room charge made in the hotel restaurant that wasn't ours. Again had to make numerous calls to convince people that we had NOT made that charge. In summary: the hotel is beautiful, historic and picturesque. However it is expensive ($600+ rooms, $59/day parking, pricey meals, etc) and water at the beach is not safe due to pollution. We will go back to Coronado but plan to stay at a different hotel."

"El Cordova is a historical type of hotel with lovely Spanish touches in the room I stayed in (#5) - Spanish tiles in the bathroom also a small kitchen area with a stove, microwave, and a refrigerator. I was also surprised that this room had a small living room in addition to the bedroom. Truly the hotel makes walking easy to Coronado beach as well as all of the stores and restaurants. Previous reviews noted that the Mexican restaurant can be very ”noisy” - there was some noise, however, not bad enough to keep me awake. I was surprised that the hotel did not have an elevator; several steps to get to your room. The clerk was very kind to assist me with getting my luggage in and out of the room has I have some ”issues” with one of my knees. All, in all - I liked my room and would stay there again."

"Breakfast can go to the restaurant, you can also go to Starbucks, the pool is good, the room is clean, there is a battery car to the beach. It is also a good choice on the island of Corolla."

"Take the children to play on the weekends, and find that there is no hot water when playing in the water by the sea when going back to the room to take a bath. Called the front desk and waited for half an hour before the workers came to repair it. Because I had reserved dinner, I couldn't wait to fix it, so I had to go to dinner first. Come back for dinner and find that there is still no hot water! Called the front desk again, waited for nearly an hour, and made several phone calls during the call to see the repair. Such a high-end resort hotel, there was no hot water in the room, and the maintenance staff came very slowly! Children wait until 10 pm to have a hot bath to sleep! Called the front desk to complain, asked to speak with the manager, and was told that there was no manager at night ... speechless! Called Ctrip customer service to complain and was asked to take a picture without hot water! Excuse me, how can I make a film without hot water? ? !! Ctrip's customer service said that it would give 100 yuan for exemption. Can you spend more than 6,300 to book a high-end seaside resort hotel, and encountered super mentally handicapped problems without hot water, can 100 yuan solve the problem? ? ?"

"The bower was excellent. Small boutique hotel and great location. The rooms are small to decent but very well decorated with up to date decor. Staff was friendly and left a super personal note at my check out. Much appreciated and great attention to detail."

"I've been coming to this hotel for over 20 years. Always the same.... PERFECT. Some of the stuff still works there for over 20 years. So good to see them. "

"The location on Coronado is brilliant however it’s definitely not worth the price I paid per night. The room is very worn and old, has a strange smell and feels as though there’s no ventilation. The shower is grotty and the couch and curtains were stained. Overall it didn’t feel very clean and I probably wouldn’t stay again for the price. The parking cost is also extortionate at $50 per night. There’s no daily cleaning service either, so our room wasn’t cleaned once in a three night stay. Staff were friendly and the location can’t be beaten as it’s literally right in front of Hotel Del Coronado, so you’re paying for the location but the accommodation itself is basic."
